Chapter Six

Sitting there talking to my best friend really put everything into perspective for me. Willow had agreed to hang around the house so Mom and I could be scarce if anyone showed up unannounced. Dimitri had excused himself to handle important phone calls, while his Mom worked on building a team to start planning a rescue mission. My parents had traveled to my father's pack to recruit more help. So, with everyone busy, I decided to take care of a few things that I needed to finish for school, and I needed to send an email to my principal about my decision on graduating early. Once in my room, I sat down at my desk and opened up my computer.

I want to thank you for letting me attend the Gala. It was truly a wonderful experience. The reason for this message is to ask if you could pass the article onto someone else. I ask because I will be part of it, as I was one of the winners of one of the scholarships and I don't feel it would be right if I were to continue. Attached is all the pictures as well as video recordings of my notes and the speeches from all the guests, along with mine and the other winner's thank you's. I also wanted to be the first to tell you that I have decided to graduate early. I want to thank you for teaching me everything you have about writing and Photography. You taught me more in my last four years. I feel like I can presume my dreams. I really can't thank you enough for being a great teacher and at time's a friend.

I wasn't normally a crier but I was after reading that, I didn't have the heart to tell her that I wouldn't be attending college at all, or at least, I didn't think I would be. I checked again and saw that Mr. Hadly had responded and wanted to meet first thing Monday morning and that I was free and clear. Now I just needed to tell my parents and Dimitri. I turned off my computer, used the restroom and washed my hands, then went downstairs to start some dinner. After the eventful night, I figured everyone could use and nice juicy steak. I fired up the grill and pulled the steaks out, seasoned them and slipped them back in the fridge, then started prepping everything else. I decided on baked potatoes with a salad. I washed up the taters and dried them, I poked holes in all of them and doused them in butter and some salt and pepper, wrapped them up in foil and placed them on the grill. I found Dimitri in my Mom's office rubbing his head. I could feel his frustration coming off him in waves. I could only imagine what it would feel like when we mated completely.

" Hey babe, are you OK?" I asked.

" Hey love, yeah, I'm alright. Just frustrated." said Dimitri.

" What's going on? Maybe I can help." I said.

" My Mom is being really pushy about everything. I keep trying to tell her that it would take some time. Right now my friend Asher is trying to find the blue prints to my Uncle's place. Without that, we were at a standstill, and when I told my Mom that she flipped on me," said Dimitri.

" I'm sorry, I'm sure she understands that it takes time. Im also sure that she really just misses her mate. Put yourself in her shoes. Imagine if it was me missing and you had to take care of a whole kingdom along with three children all alone. While missing your mate knowing they are out there somewhere. I know that if I was in her shoes I would be scared and frustrated to." I said hoping I hadn't over stepped anything

" Babe your right, I never really imagined what she was going through. I think its time to go home, things are starting to pile up and I can't handle it over the phone. I'm needed in meetings and I would really love it if you would come with me?" Asked Dimitri

" Funny that you mention that. I actually have news to share. On Monday I meet with my Principal to get the process started on graduating early. If you need to leave before then I understand." I said

" Babe, you didn't have to do that. I can push off a few things and my Mom can handle the rest, I really don't want to miss your birthday. When do you think your parents will be home?" asked Dimitri

"I wanted to, I decided that it was time I did something for me and I want to be with you. There is something that I want in return, I would still like to attend college and continue with taking pictures its my thing and I can't give that up. I understand that once we are married that things will be different but its somthing that I want. They should be home by the time dinner is ready, come with me i need to check on my potatoes." I said walking to the back yard

" Im glad to hear that, and I have no problem with you going to college and doing what you love. I'm sure the packs will love the future Queen taking there pictures. Have you heard if they had any luck on finding more help? What are you making for dinner?" asked Dimitri

" Thank you so much. No I haven't heard anything, oh I bet they will and I'm sure some will think something else entirely.Im hoping no news is good news. I'm making steak with baked potatoes and a salad, I figured with all thats happened we could use a good sit down family dinner." I said

The tater's were cooking nicely, but not quite done enough to cook the steaks yet. So I made the salad and decided to set the table outside it was nice enough, and it got everyone out of the house. I also whipped up a dessert for us to, a homemade chocolate cake, it could cook while finished cooking and ate. I slipped the cake in the oven, grabbed the steaks out of the fridge and put them on the grill.

" How does your Mom like her steak cooked?" I asked

" She would prefer it to be more medium rare, I like rare to medium." said Dimitri

" Ok perfect, I didn't want to assume, even with a bunch of wolves." I said with a chuckle

" Thats true, you never know. But one thing I know if that everything smells wonderful and I can't wait to eat it." said Dimitri

I was about to say something when I heard the screen door open and shut.

"Hey guys we are home and I have good news." said Dad

" Hold on let me get my Mom." said Dimitri as he ran into the house and hollered for her. It didn't take her long to join us.

" It smells wonderful out here. Noah, Everly did you have a good trip to your pack?" asked Arianna

" We did. Im happy to inform you that I have ten warriors that can be ready with one phone call. Also one of those warrior's knows the inside and out of your uncles place. Her family used to work for him a long time ago, she used to play as a kid and she knows the in's and out's of the place. She assured me that she could get in and get out without being detected." Said my Dad

" That's fantastic news. Can we send them in now?" asked Arianna

" Yes, I just have to make the call. The choice is yours."Said Dad

I knew Dimitri wasn't happy about not being apart of the the rescue, but I knew our talk from earlier was making him think about his Mom. She was going to need him here as moral support. He looked at me and I nodded my head in agreement.

" Make the call please, also he's not safe at the palace. I've been informed that there is a spy, Brookhurst is looking into it quietly, but we are needed back right away." Said Arianna

Dad pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"Yes Alpha." said a man

" Its time. Call me as soon as its done and my wife will open a portal to safety retrive the package. Again speak of this to no one." said Dad

"Yes, Alpha." said the man and the line went dead

" Thank you. Mom I can't leave, Scarlett has some things.... wait sorry babe I should let you talk first." said Dimitri

" Mom, Dad I have some news and I hope your ok with it. So about a month ago I was asked my Mr. Hadley if i would like to graduate early once I had finished all my finals. Well today I put the process in montion, I meet with him first thing Monday morning and that will be it." I said

" Oh hon, thats great and a great decision as well. We also have more news to now that you have decided to do this. I am going to step down as coven learder and move back to be with my pack and your father. The house is ours so it will always been here it will also act as a safe house, it will always be protected as long as one of the four of us is hear." said Mom

" Mom I'm really happy for you and Dad and im glad that your doing this." I said

I put the last touches on the steaks and taters and we all settled into our dinner as a family. Dimitri insisted that he and his Mom would clean up since I cooked. My Dad excused himself to shower and get cleaned up, and my Mom and I sat outside. She sipped her wine and I drank my tea.

" How was being back at the pack today Mom?" I asked

" It was wonderful, I had forgotten how much I missed it, not to mention so did my wolf. I'm glad to be going back." said Mom

" I am so happy for you and I knew you were missing something in your life other that just Dad. How are your doing with the other news?" I asked

" Not well actually, that was a memory that I had buried so far down that I could forget and now I don't know what to think or do. I just know I'm not strong enough to fight her or to even face her either. I just hope this time has a better ending than before. How did it go today?" asked Mom

" Good, I passed my article along to someone else. I thanked Mrs. Miller for everything and told her about my plans and she wished me luck. Then I started on dinner and helped Dimitri understand a little how his Mom was feeling and why she was being so bossy and frustrating. He thought about it and realized that he needed to take a different approach with her. I also got some things off my chest that I was worried about." I said

" That's good your were there to help him realize that, sometimes men forget that we as women are stronger then we look, but

sometime that strength breaks down a little and we fall apart. What had you so worried? LIfe has been so crazy that we really haven't gotten to talk much about your first shift or anything actaully." said Mom

" Your right. I was worried about not getting to attend college even if its just online. I want to continue taking pictures and even selling them if I can. Dimitri assured me that I could. It feels like we have been going for a week straight with no sleep, yet its only been two days. Shifting like that was so embarrassing, I know he wasn't trying to hurt me by telling me the truth, its what I wanted and well Alex just took it way to far with getting angry like that. I tried to get her to listen to him but she was to far gone for that. Now I'm scared that anytime a women talks to him that Alex with wolf out and hurt someone." I said

"I'm happy to hear that your dreams won't be put on hold. I agree, I wish this train would slow down a bit so my mine can catch up. Don't be embarrassed it happens to the best of us, I was the same way before your Dad and I completed the mating process. Your changing once the bond is completed you will be a Lycan just like him. Wolves are already very possessive creatures, but Lycan's are worse. You both will have to learn control because it will only get worse. I would honestly be more worried about him wolfing out and hurting someone. Oh I almost forgot, these are for you." said Mom handing me a bag with a pill bottle inside

" What are these for? I'm glad to I was afriad I would only even be seen as a Queen and not get to live life, I know that is a big judgement but my mind started to wonder and well it got the best of me. I can already feel the changes happening and it scares me, I know that he will help me to learn control.Truthfully Im scared to finish the bond, Ive never had a boyfriend. Heck Mom in reality I just had my first kiss." I said

" Oh dear daughter everything is going to be fine. Don't rush I know everything sounds hard and maybe a little impossible but you will be fine. The pills are to help you with your heat. Now that you have found your mate, your heat will start and that's when your control will be tested the most. You will be safe here I will cast a spell to keep Dimitri away along with any other red blooded male away. The pills will help but you will still be in pain and there will be no stopping it unless you choose to complete the bond. I see that weird look on your face, I know this isn't a conversation you want to have with me but its me or your Dad. "said Mom

" I chose you, and your right it kind of sucks. I need you to explain more please so I know what to expect." I said.

"OK, so once a month a female goes through a heat. it is generally the best time to conceive a pup. To put it bluntly you are super horny all the time for about a week. The only way the pain and tension goes away is by your mate touching you or having s*x with you and not just once it would be like a song on repeat. The pills will also help you to not get pregnant when the time comes that you want that to happen stop taking them and by the time your next heat happens or hes just really good it will happen. I think I need more wine, you need more tea?" asked Mom

"Nice save Mom, but can we promise to never have this conversation again or ever mention that we talked about this like ever. Yes i would love somemore tea." I said

Mom took our glasses and laughed as she walked to the kitchen. I couldn't believe I just had the s*x talk with my Mom, but the wolf version of it. Now my fears were really starting to take hold, everything for a Lycan is even more intense so that means I will be living in hell for a week until it goes away. I know I had options but I really wasn't ready. Call me weird but I really just wanted to get to know him and take things at a pace I was good with. Mom came back with our refills and we sat in silence and just looked at the stars. I felt my phone start buzzing and that when I realized its my birthday, In other hour I will offically be nineteen. I tapped my Mom on the shoulder to wake her up. She looked at me confused and asked "What time is it?" I replied with "It's just after midnight." She sat straight up in a bit of a panic. I knew right then what crossed her mind, we hadn't heard from Dads team yet or at least we hadn't. Mom quickly left me to go find my father, so I grabbed the empty glasses and deposited them in the sink. I could hear noise coming from the living room, so I went to check it out. Arianna was fast asleep on the couch so I grabbed a blanket and covered her up. I knew where I was going to find my mate and my Dad. Sure enough, I was right. They were sitting in the office waiting for a phone call.

"Have either of you tried to sleep?" I asked.

" No." They both said in unison

" Your not going to be of any help if your both exhausted. Mom and I are good now, so we can wait up and if somthing happens you will be the first to know." I said

Dad was the first to reply "Your right hon, we should get some sleep. Dimitri your mate is right." with that he left the room.

" Your Mom is asleep on the couch, I covered her with a blanket." I said

"Thank you. I can't sleep my mind is just so wound up that I can't relax." said Dimitri

" Your welcome. I know it is but come with me and please try?" I asked

He agreed and I grabbed him by the hand a took him to our room. I went to the bathroom and changed out of my jeans into sweats and a tank and finished up by washing my face and brushing my teeth. While Dimitri took his turn, I turned the TV on put on a show. He walked out of the bathroom looking like the weight of the world was sitting right on top of him. It was normal that he was feeling this way, the effects of having the block are starting to catch up to him. All these new emotions were going to rip him up inside and out unless he talked about it.

" Dimitri, what your feeling is normal." I said testing the waters

"You have no idea what Im feeling. Please just let it go." Dimitri said coldly

" Actually I do, its the effects from the magic and the block. Ive been feeling it to, you are going to be feeling it worse because you have carried it with you for so long. Every memory is starting to swarm you and its making you feel to many emotions at once. You need to talk about it before it makes you explode." I said

" I don't even know where to start. At first I was just feeling guilty about not being able to do somthing when I was a boy, then I realize there wasn't anything I could have done. But then I think why didn't my Mother do somthing, if she could still feel the bond why didn't she look for him sooner. I know in my heart that she coulnd't because she had to take care of us children but I can't shake that feeling of being mad at her. But then I think about my Uncle and the rage I feel right now could demolish a tank, he ruined my families life. Whats worse than that is that he ruined yours. How do you not truly hate me for everything that he's done." said Dimitri with tear in his eyes, I placed my hands on either side of his cheeks and made him look at me.

" I love you, more than I ever thought possible without actually knowing everything there is to know about you. You are not your uncle and I could never hate you. If our lives were ruined I would have never met my Dad nor would I have met you. Everything that has happened, has been for a reason. The rage that you feel for your unlce isn't wrong but remember with rage comes mistakes. Don't lose your head, that is what he wants I could see it in his eyes when we did the spell. He wants you to make a mistake, its what he thrives off of." I said

"I love you to. What would I do without you right now, you were right I do feel a bit better. How long will these feelings last?" asked Dimitri

"Now that you've talked about it, everything should be better in a day or two. If you are feeling at odds please come find me and we can talk. Now come on lay down and just relax even if you don't sleep just rest. We can figure the rest out as we go." I said kissing him

He laid his head in my lap and I stroked his hair as we watched the TV. Just before sleep took over I heard him whisper "Happy Birthday my love." I grabbed my phone and flipped through f*******: and IG. I checked all my notifications and thanked who had posted on my timeline. Once I had my fill of social media, I settled in with a book. An hour later my phone buzzed alerting me to a text from my Mom.

Mom: Hey we just heard, they have him and he is in ok health. He is at your father's pack being checked out by the pack doctor. Your father has been on the phone with Phil and with King, he has explained everything. The doctor was asked to call us once he was done with his evaluation. He should be here in the next hour or two.

I didn't even respond back because I was already waking Dimitri up. " Baby I need you to wake up, I have news." I said

he started to stir and said " Please tell me everything is ok." replied Dimitri. I hugged him and said " Everything is fine, he is at my Dads pack being checked out by a doctor. As soon as he is cleared my mom will open a portal and he will be brought here." I said

He just looked at me as tears started welling up in his eyes. He pulled me into a hug and and cried, " I'm really going to see my dad." Said Dimitri

"Yes you are. Lets go talk to my Dad he has more details." I said

We found everyone in the kitchen I could see Arianna was crying to, I elbowed Dimitri a tilted my head towards his Mom. Thankfully he got my point and walked over to her and pulled her into a big hug,One that Im sure they both needed. I poured a cup of coffee and was about to sit down when Dimitri pulled me on his lap and whispered " Having you close to me helps me stay in the now." I nodded letting him know that I understood, I poured him a cup as well and slid it closer to him.

"Noah what can you tell us?" Asked Arianna

" He is every much alive. It seems that he was better taken care of then most who are in lock down but he is still very malnurished my pack Doctor has him on some IV fluids to help him. Doc James is requesting that he stay the night in the hospital to make sure nothing else arises. My pack is expecting you and Dimitri to come and stay until he can be returned home. Everly and I will go with you, I need to prepare my pack for the possibility of retaliation. Everly will place protection on you and your family you will be safe. Said Dad

Both Dimitri and his Mother were both crying and hugging each other, I couldn't imagine the relief they both felt knowing that he was alive. A boy now a man was getting his father back and a wife was getting her mate back.

"Dad do you think they will relate?" I asked

" I wish I knew but we all need to prepare. Your mother said Willow was going to stay with the house. I think you need to come with us and start training. I would love nothing more than to keep you both here, but I know that isn't fair. You and your Mother both need to learn to fight in your wolf form." Said dad

" Ok I will do anything that needs done to help my family. I just wish we knew what they were planning or even when they were planning to attack. This whole prophecy thing is really starting to complicate things." I said

"I know I wish we did to. You had better pack some clothes. Warmer is better but also stuff to train in. Your mom is going over first to cast all the protection spells and then when she is done, she will open the portal." Said Dad

I left my mate in the kitchen with his Mother and my Father and packed a bag for myself and for Dimitri. His mind wasn't in the right space to worry about packing. I pulled my phone out to text Willow.

Me: Hey my Dad wanted to know when you could be at the house? We need to leave here in the next hour or two.

Willow: I can be there in thirty need to finish packing my stuff. Does that work?

Me: Yeah thats perfect. Thank you for taking care of the house.

Willow: Girl its not a problem. Im always there for family. See you soon xoxo

Me: love you too.

I was grateful to have a friend like Willow. It was nice having a friend that you didn't have to hide from and that you knew would be there to help you out in a pinch. After I had canceled my birthday party, none of the other people that were supposed to be my friends hadn't even reached out at all. I know we lied about why it was canceled, but not a single person has asked if I am OK or if my family is, of course, except Willow. I hoped that she found a good mate when the time came and one that would love her in all the ways she deserved. I was about to pack up my computer and camera when I remembered I had a meeting with the Principal on Monday about graduating early. I typed out a quick email

I'm sorry for this short notice. But I won't be able to make our meeting Monday. My grandmother in Florida has broken her hip in a fall and my grandfather isn't capable of helping her just yet. Is there any possible way we could have the meeting over the phone? If so, please let me know and I will call you on Monday morning.

Now that it was taken care of, I packed up the rest of my things and decided to lay down for a bit to relax. These last few days have been crazy and I haven't gotten much sleep after shifting and learning about everything. My head and heart were feeling heavy with worry and with love. I played around on my phone for a bit, checking out all my social media stuff. All these people were posting all the fun stuff they were planning and what they planned for after school. I had hoped that would be me one day planning my life. But it seems mine and Dimitri's life had already been planned out for us, long before we even came to be. The pressure to be the best was intimidating.
