Florence had tossed a Flash Orb at the demon and it was supposed to detonate a few seconds after he activated it with his mana but the flash happened a little earlier because Cali had struck it with her [Dark Arrow] magic spell.
Thankfully, he saw this with his [Enhanced Clairvoyance]’s Future Sight and quickly covered his and Heather’s eyes. He didn’t stop moving as he quickly got out of there. The attack from Heather and his use of the Flash Orb providing the best smokescreen to aid in their retreat.
The Flash Orb wasn’t dwarven made but something their Vulcan Kingdom’s alchemist and mage associations were jointly developing and creating. This campaign was going to be the first test run of the completed product and Florence was thankful that it worked as intended.
