Alpha Franklin walked to the center of the stage with Luna Ava standing off towards the side. With powerful authority started his big speech.

“Welcome, welcome one and all, Thank you for coming to our little celebration tonight. Ava and I cannot believe its been 18 years since the apple of our eye Amber came into this world kicking and screaming, not much has changed.” Everyone started laughing at that.

“we have a few announcements tonight and a couple of surprises that we think you will all enjoy, But first things first will you all raise your glasses. Amber you make me so proud to be your farther, happy birthday and may you have many more.” A chorus of “happy birthday Amber” followed then the room quieted down again ready for what was to come. Next from our Alpha, even I was curious as to what these announcements could be.

“ Amber, we have a surprise for you, me and your mother decided that this was the best gift we could give you.” He then passed Amber a small box with a little red bow on top, the box of course was embellished with diamonds,

“even with something small like this they had to stick to the theme of the party” I thought rolling my eyes. Amber slowly but carefully pulled off the bow and opened the box. She pulled out two different keys, puzzled she looked at her farther confused. He didn’t take long to answer he unasked question.

“Everyone come outside for a minute the first part of your surprise Amber is there waiting for you.”

Every member of the pack followed the Alphas lead, Amber at the front looking excited, everyone was happily chattering, wondering what all the mystery was about. There parked in front of the packhouse was a bright pink Mersadees SLK convertible with a bright red bow across the bonnet. Everyone staired in aww that the beautiful car.

“Happy birthday sweetheart” Alpha Franklin said looking on Amber with a look of pure joy. Its not often that the Alpha showed his pack his sensitive side, but you could tell he absolutely adored Amber.

“ This key here is for your car, try it out see how you like it”

Amber ran towards her dad and gave him a massive hug, with a look of pure delight she turned towards her car and ushered her friends Jessie and Becky towards the car.

“lets take this baby for a spin” she said all of them started laughing in high pitched giggles.

“don’t go far, this is only the first half of your surprise” Alpha Franklin stated Amber and her friends took off on there little joy ride and everyone went back inside.

Where was Damien? I couldn’t see him anywhere, it was like he had turned invisible or something. Making my way back over to join my friends I grabbed another glass of champagne off the waiter.

Autumn arched her eyebrows at me “ what it’s a party, I’m allowed to indulge a little arnt I.” I was really only drinking to calm my nerves, with the glass shaking slightly in my hands I took another large drink.

Amber was soon back with the rest of her posse, the room then turned quiet in anticipation of the Alpha and Lunas next surprise.

“so I bet you and your friends have been wondering what your other key is for hmmmmm” Alpha Franklin said look smug.

“ Actually yeah, I’m so confused right now” she said looking at her dad rather intently.

“ well that brings me to one of tonight’s announcements, I have finalised the plans a short while ago with the council and everything’s set. This is the key to the pack house, its yours now, from tomorrow you and your mate, whoever that will be. will take over as Alpha and Luna of this pack. Me and your mum are retiring, so tonight as part of your birthday celebration we have a member from the council to swear you in as our new Luna. This is also a Luna ceremony surprise.”

Everybody was silent, this is not good I thought, not good at all now she could do whatever she wants to me and get away with it. She was going to be even more dangerous now her dad and mum had stepped down. I can’t take any more of this I need to find Damien, we have our own news to share and I needed it to be now before anything could happen.

“ wow dad im gobsmacked, thank you, well now I can reveal a surprise of my own” she said everyone was listening with bated breath.

“ everyone knows I found my mate when I was 16, he was a rouge wolf and our pack guards killed him when he came onto our land, without realising who he belonged to” Amber was milking the crowd knowing she had everyone’s undivided attention, my nerves really cant take much more of this somethings wrong where is Damien.

“ would it be possible that the member of the council could also marry me and my chosen mate tonight” Amber looked at her dad with hopeful eyes.

Alphas eyes bulged out of his sockets he was definitely shocked at Ambers announcement and that is just what she wanted.

“yes its possible but who are we talking about here, I’m not just going to let anyone marry my daughter.”

Just then I finally caught sight of Damien and sighed with relief, he came towards me with the oddest looking smile plastered to his face.

“please don’t hate me he said” giving my hand a squeeze he let me go and walked over to where the Alpha, Luna and Amber stood.

“meet my chosen mate Bata Damien” Amber said smugly introducing him to her farther

Damien shook Alpha Franklins hand and gave Luna Ava a kiss on both cheeks then went and proudly stood at Amber's side. Hand in hand they both looked at the Alpha waiting for his blessing. I should have known having Damien as a mate was too good to be true. What a crewel joke the Moon Goddess was playing on me, why is she punishing me? What have I done wrong that I deserve this. With tears streaming down my face I screamed.

“NO THIS CARNT BE HAPPENING TO ME” I couldn’t breathe my world was collapsing all around me everything I had thought possible was a lie. Everything became too much for me to handle and I collapsed to a heap on the floor letting the darkness take me away from this living nightmare.
