Destiny Voyage- Deadline Encroaching 4.4
“Cosette?! Where are you?! ”Raiden began calling out for their team mate as they walked the streets of the uptown capital. They were getting stares but it didn’t bother the young man the least. He was worried of Cosette falling for the man’s charms and becoming a herd woman chasing after him. That would be unacceptable.
Cosette was a very nice young woman; it would be a shame if she somehow acted like a mad woman for love- not to mention the waste of such powers. Raiden sucked in a breath, he hated to admit it to himself but Cosette in terms of power was perhaps even stronger than him if she acted aggressive.
He scratched his head a bit, and . . . he would begrudgingly admit that Cosette was too lovely and dazzling for her to simply become a person chasing after a male who was as infuriating as the woman beside him at the moment. Cosette would be better off with Haichi if he had to choose.
Sora sighed softly to herself as they crossed the streets of the city. Finding Cosette and Robin was like hitting two birds with one stone and even if it was just Cosette that they had found then they would find pointers from her. That’s was for sure. But the thing was that Sora couldn’t help but be bothered by that strange pang in her heart at the moment.
It was troublesome, feeling queasy and Raiden’s voice resounding every moment he called out for their team mate. It was bothering and she didn’t like it at all.
What was this feeling?
“You’ll scare her out and Robin if you keep calling out like that.” She told Raiden with a purse of her lips. The man simply grunted and ignored her statement, more concerned in finding their team mate than the consequences of getting reprimanded. She sighed and crossed her arms whilst they walked. Of course, Cosette would be given more priority over her . . . not that it mattered anyways. It was a simple fact given to everything.
Prior people before the new ones. Old friends over your new ones.
She sighed softly, was it the same between her and Robin? Would he have chosen her between this luxurious life and their simple life in the merchant village? In another way around, would she choose to run away with him back to their home and give up her dream to be with him peacefully? Her eyes widened at the realization. What if he did have to make her choose between him and her dreams and aspirations?
Would she gladly give it all up? Would she throw all of this away just for him? Could she? “Hey.” A gruff voice brought her out of her thoughts and she found herself staring back into deep forest green eyes that seemed to soak her into his thoughts. Its stillness reminded her of the deep dark jungle, the bursting of a tiny sprout springing up from the ground, and the sounds of the leaves soaring with the invisible wind.
It was too tranquil that it bothered her so as she gazed into his forest shaded eyes. He should be worried about Cosette shouldn’t he? “What?” she spoke softly afraid to break the serenity of the air between them. “Are you okay?” he shrugged nonchalantly as they walked through the streets. She strode beside him and rolled her eyes. “Why wouldn’t I be?” she asked sarcastically.
“You were lost in your thoughts.” he mentioned to her and she merely shrugged at the notion. “What if I was?” she piqued at him. "You don't really use your head too much." Raiden told her with a small chuckle as the young woman merely rolled her eyes at him. “We should just find Cosette and Robin.” she stated plainly and walked ahead. “Are you worried?” he asked her and grabbed her arm, pulling Sora beside him. She gave him a soured look, “For whom? Cosette? ”She expressed at him with slight disdain.
He rolled his eyes at her, “For you silly.” Raiden replied and poked her head and pulled her along the streets more quickly. “You must be nervous about this mission.” he stated softly in contrast to their high speed pace. “You don’t have to worry about it- we’ll find them.” he gently smiled at her a bit before shaking his head- as if against his own actions. “You shouldn’t try hiding any of this stuff you know?” He then intoned at her with an opposite tone to his previous kind one.
“Yeah yeah, tell that to Miss Viola when we return would you?” she sarcastically whipped back at him and the male sighed to himself at his hot headed team mate. “Whatever, we must be close to Cosette’s residence.” he told her as they turned to go to another corner street. “What does her home look like?” she asked the male who simply ignored her. His eyes were widened for a moment, somewhat he was stunned. Sora quirked a brow and glanced at his line of sight.
Her heart froze.

The young blonde was lounged at the medical lab with all sorts of glass potions and tubes. She sighed softly and smoothed out some of the dust speck from one container. The young woman glanced at the recipe written in her hand she then cast her eyes at the shelves and searched for the ingredients. Some rosemary and a little bit of thyme for the concoction that the mystic was about to make.
‘It was a bit disappointing to always follow the book handed down by our ancestors. Why could we not fiddle with it a bit?’ She thought in dismay as she glanced at a jar filled with poison ivy. It was only acceptable to use for the trained eye . . . a little bit of it wouldn’t hurt though? The lady grinned as she grabbed the jar and opened the lid. The whiff of its enticing leaves had left her for a second in a daze. Using a pair of handling instruments, she picked up the leaves and prepared to pound it before using it in the mixture.
Knock. Knock.
The sound brought her to senses as she quickly placed back the item into the shelf. “Yes?” the lady called out to the person on the other side. “Uh Miss . . . someone is requesting for your presence? Should I make him leave?” the servant queried his master hesitantly. “He seems important though.” he added to me urgently. The young woman quirked a brow, having told him prior that she would not be entertaining guests, then she figured it was truly important. “Alright I’ll go out to meet him. Please make him wait for a bit.” The young master kindly told the man as she heard his pounding and nervous steps to the guest.
The Mystic huffed for a bit, hating to be disturbed as she hastily moved her fingers and rearranged the items in the room with a bit of magic. Patting her hair in place, she started out to the lounge area. Grieving to herself that she had not enough time to retouch herself or even freshen herself up. “Good after noon.” The delicate young woman immediately greeted the person with a smile as she strode into the room.
“Good after noon indeed.” a young man’s voice spoke up as her head turned immediately to the guest. “Surprised?” he asked the lady with a small chuckle as he glanced at her with his fiery red eyes that seemed to burn into the back of the lady’s mind. “Do you not often have bachelors or suitors lining up in here just to gaze upon you?” he queried the blonde with a funny quirk of a brow. She gave a half-forced laugh. “Not at all surprised, a pleasant surprise maybe. Although my father doesn’t really allow suitors to even step into the gates of our humble abode as you can see.” she told him quietly as she could. He simply pursed his lips and shrugged.
“I see. Well then my lady, shall we be off?” he asked courteously for the young woman’s permission as he stood up and held out his hand for the lady to take. “Um, and why should I go out with you?” she starkly told him as she crossed her arms at him in disagreement. “A wonderful lady like you should not stay in her home all cooped up.” he replied to the lady with a captivating grin. “Let’s go out and have some fun.” He added.
She was now the one who pursed her lips in doubt. “Are you sure you have asked the right girl? I thought you were looking for someone else.” she pouted at him and he laughed boyishly before looking at her straight into the lady’s soothing azure hued eyes. His passionate and flaming red eyes were piercing into her very soul. “I want to be with you right now, is there anything wrong with that?” he pouted at the lady childishly; she couldn’t help but laugh a bit. A small blush spread across her cheeks. “Alright, alright.” she agreed to his request.
“Just let me freshen up and maybe a shower-”she started out but was cut off by his finger being placed on his lips. “You don’t need to do that.” he smiled at her gracefully. “You already look pretty.” He told her, the woman’s face already heating up some more. “Plus girls take too long.” The young man laughed amicably as she rolled her eyes and shoved him a bit. “The place we’re going better be good.” she remarked in a playful manner.
“No worries my lady, we are not going that far. Let’s go to your favorite place here?” he queried her and she smiled devilishly. “I do hope you do not hate me for that then.” The young woman grinned triumphantly at him before she grabbed his arm and pulled him out from her abode.

There he was. He was just sitting and enjoying the day with a familiar woman a few meters away from their position. They looked so happy . . . could she even challenge that? The blonde girl whispered into his ear, sweet nothings maybe. It brought more strange feelings into the young brunette’s heart that was already having strange pangs a while ago. She sighed quietly to herself and averted her eyes to the ground.
“There they are.” Raiden scowled slightly to himself as he started to stride towards them. The lady beside him grabbed his arm and held him back. “No.” she told him off with a glare. “Don’t interrupt them- I mean Cosette. I bet she has a plan already to capture him.” she told the young man beside her albeit knowing that there was none and that Cosette was just clearly enjoying his company. He frowned and stopped in his tracks, annoyance quite obvious that he had been stopped.
Sora sighed softly and gazed at them from afar. The young man laughed boyishly at her and messed up her hair. Her jaded green eyes blinked for but a moment but she was already lost in the memories.

The two were seated at the back of their makeshift classroom in the field. The current school they had which only held two classrooms was currently being renovated thanks to an investment from a particularly wealthy family from the Capital it seemed. Little Sora sighed softly to herself; she had wanted to go there.
“They said they brought along a boy our age.” Some girls from their class whispered between each other. “I hope he looks cute.” one added and giggled. The boys also seemed to be chattering among themselves and were looking at Robin disdainfully. Sora looked at the young boy beside her who had been busy drawing scrawny figures on a piece of paper. Crayons and glitters were spattered around him.
She sighed softly. “You’re so messy Robin!” the little girl criticized him and bonked his head slightly. “Ow.” He complained at her and pouted a bit. “Fix that up.” she told him and he simply stuck his tongue at her and just continued with whatever he was doing. “Boys.” The brunette child grumbled to herself and just focused on our teacher who had been giving a speech.
“-And that is why we are so grateful for their family to contribute for the advancements of our school. So let’s clap for their young boy who’s going to attend our session along with you.” the woman clapped and a boy around our age walked out from a tree. He had been hiding there it seemed.
Oh so dramatic. Sora rolled her eyes a little not even bothering to soak in his appearance. He was surely going to seat in front and never bother with them kids in the back. “Okay now that’s he’s here. Please be kind to him.” The teacher told everyone and she frowned slightly. Special treatment it seemed. “Do you have anything to say?” she asked the newcomer.
“I do hope that we all manage to get along everyone~ Please don’t be so harsh with me.” The young boy laughed a bit, somewhat too melodically that it seemed like he was a girl. Sora sighed inwardly, not a stuck up and primp one. However the girls around her seemed to squeal in delight and even the boys chuckled. They began saying how cool he seemed.
Sora couldn’t care less and returned her attention on the teacher.
“Okay I’m sure they would be kind to you.” their teacher said, looking at the kids with that ever so scary smile that made them do whatever she wanted. Sora shivered along with some other students. “Now that’s through- how about our class show off one of our homework? Who wants to show everyone their drawing of their family?” the teacher beamed at them enthusiastically.
“Oh! Oh! Ma’am!” Robin called out to her, waving a piece of paper around energetically. So that was what he had been doing. The little girl sighed, that one was supposed to be done last night. He crammed his homework again. “Alright how about- oh Robin.” the teacher looked a bit surprised at him but nonetheless called him over.
“Okay over here are my moms and pops- they’re great and kind folks.” he explained to their class eagerly. “But maaan they make you do a lot of chores at home.” he whispered conspiringly at their classmates, making some of them laugh in agreement. “Here are me and my sister Hisa-chan playing outside.” he smiled fondly at the drawing of the two of us making the young girl smile happily.
“We sometimes sneak out to a super-secret place to play and relax.” he grinned at them and winked at Sora. She sweat-dropped and laughed awkwardly while some of the girls looked at her enviously. Her brother was known to be a troublemaker but they would never deny the fact that he also looked handsome.“Excuse me ma’am. I have a question!” the aristocratic boy raised his hand as he and Robin locked eyes for but a moment. There was a strange air between them but it quickly dissipated.
“What it is?” the young woman asked him. “Why is he the only one with white hair when everyone in the family has brown coloured hair?” he questioned innocently but it dropped a peculiar silence into the room. Some ‘yeah’and ‘he’s right’ was whispered into the room as our classmates compared Sora and Robin scrutinizing. “Oh my, well that’s because he’s adopted.” The woman smiled at him a bit tentatively.
“So it’s not his real family then?” the young boy finished the teacher and looked at Robin with a questioning gaze. “Who’s your real family then? Do you know your parents?” he swiftly asked Robin before it could be dismissed. Robin frowned at him but his eyes were misting up. Sora’s eyes widened for a moment in worry. “R-Robin. . .” she murmured quietly.
“Why does it matter to you?!” he screamed at the other boy, his voice breaking a bit and ran off from their class. “Robin!” the teacher scolded but he paid no heed and kept running. Sora grimaced, regretting her decision and stood up before chasing after him. “Robin wait!” she yelled out to him. It seemed like hours before she managed to even get a bit close to him before she tackled him into the grass.
“Robin you dummy!” Sora screamed at him and huffed into his face, clearly worn out with the chase. Robin on the other hand was sniffling and trying so hard to blink back his tears. “Y-you always think I’m an i***t don’t you?” he croaked at her and sniffed some more. That seemed to have done it as tears started slowly pouring down his already red eyes. The little girl instantly felt guilty but she was at lost for words.
“You hate me don’t you?!”He cried at her as he began shaking unable to hold back anymore. Robin. . . “No I don’t.” she spoke up and he just shook his head. Sora glared at him. “No I don’t hate you; I just think you’re stupid.” she huffed at him, “There’s a difference.” She then clarified and he sniffed at her. “There is?” he looked at me skeptically.
“Yes, you’re my stupid brother. I just really dislike your stupidity.” she shrugged indifferently at him and he frowned at her. Sora looked at him with a questioning look. He immediately sat up and messed up my hair. She screeched at him. “What’s that for?” she complained and he grinned a bit before patting her head gently.
“You’re my annoying little sister.” he laughed a bit before tackling her down and began tickling the little girl until I was in tears. “Hey! Cut it out!” she kept screeching at him to stop while she nearly howled in laughter.
~ End ~
“R-Robin. . .”she managed to croak out his name but Sora couldn’t hold it back anymore. The two strangers were so close to each other in such a short span of time. Her lips seemed to bleed from me biting it too hard unknowingly. “Sora?” A puzzled voice questioned the brunette from her side as tears nearly erupted from green colored eyes. “Hey Sora.”Raiden’s voice tried to bring her back from this stupor as she gazed at him with painful eyes.
His emerald eyes looked at her in surprise and before he could come any closer she pushed her way against him and ran off. She needed to get away. She needed to get away from everyone now. She couldn’t stand this anymore.
“Sora!”Raiden’s voice called out to her but she never looked back at him and just kept pushing forward in the crowd. She was wishing to lose herself in the sea of people.

“Sora!”a familiar male’s voice suddenly called out and jostled Robin to immediately stand up by instinct. The young lady beside her also stood up and looked in the same direction. The orange-haired warrior was the one who called out to his childhood friend. Did he lose her?! “Rai-kun!”Cosette yelped as her face immediately reddened. This must be the guy she actually likes- not that it mattered to Robin anyway.
The male had wanted to immediately search for her but his courteousness held him in place as Cosette looked at Robin in apology before wording out a small sorry and rushing off to her team mate. “Rai-kun!”She called out as she approached the male and the young noble followed after her towards the male. The young man was a warrior, Robin’s eyes widened. Raiden wasn’t it? He was with Sora. He inwardly wanted to curse himself; he had been too stupid to remember Sora and Cosette's male company.
“Where is she?!”Was all he managed to say as Robin reached Raiden and nearly grabbed the man's shirt's collar.
