Destiny Voyage- Deadline Encroaching 4.3
“Tch. alright, fine let’s go then.” The young man agreed with the brunette young woman as he rolled his green eyes at the situation. Cosette was right as usual- but where did this girl wanted to go? Related to her mission maybe? But what kind of mission did she have to finish? The man was clearly lost in his thoughts in trying to discover the answer.
Sora had then decided to just drag him along with her- for his own sake. She didn’t want a fight to erupt between their team members just because of some ego work at play. She tentatively grabbed his elbow while awkwardly trying to budge him to move. He didn’t move at all for she wasn’t that strong or anything.
Not to mention the bulky armour that he was wearing. ‘Ugh what was he hiding there? Did he keep rocks?’ the young woman wondered in distress as the young male seemed to move on his own accord now. She was relieved but then looked up to see the young man’s face pondering and deep in his thoughts. She pursed her lips as she watched him; he still looked good even with his forehead creased up and his eye brows knotted together. She blushed- what was she thinking?!
“Raiden” She spoke his name and jostled him out of his thoughts as they walked away from the street where Haichi and his mother were situated. “Hmm?” he hummed while enjoying the scenery that lay before their eyes, completely forgetting his questions about where they were going. It wasn’t often that he would go on to the wealthy district to sight see- he didn’t want to buy anything here or window shop at all. He could never afford anything here because he was too busy saving his money.
“I need to find someone.” She briefly explained as she dragged him around the streets, as if she had been already here before. ‘Well most likely hours ago’ Raiden sweat dropped at his wondering, however, she manoeuvred with such accuracy along the place that it seemed like she had been here before.
“Who are you looking for? Why are you looking for that person? Is this a mission?” the orange haired, young man began to pique as he was brought along to this “search mission” by his rather newfound teammate.
“Just follow me.” She sighed heavily as she arrived in the street that she had been looking for. “It’s hard to explain Raiden. You better see it for yourself.” She explained cryptically as the man simply quirked a brow. “You already found the person?” he questioned with a tilting of his head and she simply shook her head. “I have a lead.” She remarked with a triumphant grin as she opened the doors of the store.
The familiar tingle welcomed her as they immersed themselves to the scent of flowery aroma paradise as she inhaled the scent openly.
“What are we doing here?” the warrior demanded as he turned red with all the feminine flowers around him. Men didn’t go to a boutique for fun. They just quickly bought flowers and left. He didn’t get the connection at all on why they were here unless they were after some potted plants or the attendant herself. “Is he here?” Sora asked the store attendant by the counter and the woman nodded. “Please just proceed to the second floor room Miss Hisako.” She explained and bowed with a hand on her chest. “He had been expecting you.” The woman added and Raiden couldn’t help but be perplexed at what was actually happening right now. They were after a male who was staying inside a boutique?!
“What is the meaning of this?” the bodyguard thundered from the second floor as he went down and saw Raiden before quickly walking up to the orange haired warrior with an intent to throw the male off the store. “Uh he’s my bodyguard?” Sora sweat dropped, making an excuse right at the spur of the moment. “I got myself one to face you!” she then declared haughtily as her lips formed into a smirk while every people in the first floor shook their heads in dismay at the obviousness of the lie. “What did I have gotten myself in to?” Raiden questioned himself and then face-palmed. “I’m her team mate. If you have problems with that then say so.” He told the bodyguard evenly, measuring the male with an inquisitive eye.
“Er you can come up with the miss.” The older man sighed- he didn’t want any trouble that could lead to the two of them fighting as he gazed onto the young man’s sword hilt that was on his back. Also was the fact that the young woman with him could probably request him to get fired! He shot a glare at the brunette’s back as she stepped forward. Raiden narrowed his eyes at the male who then quickly stopped and coughed awkwardly. The bodyguard stepped back to allow the young warrior to follow after her friend.
The two team mates then strode up the stairs with Sora who deliberately went in first into the chambers. A young male was looking outside the window, appearing to be lost in his thoughts as the person gazed onto the sky.
“Um . . . hello there my good sir- I have returned?” Sora coughed awkwardly unsure how to greet the nobleman. Even if she didn’t particularly like them because they appeared to have been too rich for their own good- she still had to give respect; after all they were all humans. That’s all there is to it, nothing more and nothing less. Well at least that’s what she tells herself.
“Oh Sora dear, you’re here~?” the man’s cheerful but pleasant voice said as the man turned around. His rosy red eyes locked on her giddily for a moment before noticing the orange-haired man. “Er… you brought someone along I see.” He quipped, a hint of distaste in the edge of his tone but it quickly disappeared with a well-practiced smile. “Hello there, it is a pleasure to meet you.” The white-haired man held out his hand for a handshake and maintained a very pleasing smile.
Raiden’s eyes twitched at the man who appeared to not recognize him. “I know who you are, come here and meet my fis-“ in what seemed less than a second Raiden had already swung his clenched fist at the young noble and even faster was the young man’s reaction as he blocked it with his extended hand. “Oh-ho~ you are a feisty person to strangers aren’t you?” he chuckled delightfully instead of being mad at all.
“I like that.” He complimented the other male. “You could be my body guard if you wanted.” The man murmured thoughtfully while Raiden was unnerved by the man’s own speed. Was this man a warrior as well?!
“Raiden!” Sora gasped and hastily pulled back his arm. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t expect he was this hot headed to guys who are more handsome than him.” Sora apologized then realized her slip of words before laughing a bit in embarrassment. Raiden glared at her while the other person simply chuckled. “You are quite an honest lady are you not?” he smoothly asked, his voice as rich and velvety as honey.
The young woman blushed slightly but shrugged it off. “Raiden’s an insecure man.” She replied before looking at the orange-haired man. He roughly pulled off his arm from her and she cringed a bit, knowing she upset the male once more. However, from what Haichi’s mother had been saying, it seemed pretty accurate.
“Or you are just plain rude.” Raiden huffed and then looked at the man in front of him. “I offer my apologies; it seems I have mistaken you for someone else.” He clarified and held out his hand in a wish for a conciliatory handshake.
“My name is Raiden. I hope we get along despite the awkward introductions.” He straightforwardly told him and the white-haired man simply chuckled. “No problem Raiden, people often mistake me for my troublesome brother.” He smiled warmly and shook his hand.
“I’m Roswell Williams, a pleasure to be of your acquaintance.” The man introduced himself while Raiden’s eyes widened for a moment before shaking his head. “Oh no, the pleasure is all mine good sir.” He replied, acting way too proper to Sora’s knowledge of the young man’s normal personality. “Call me Roswell please.” The man laughed modestly and glanced at Sora with a shine in his eyes.
“Your friend seems immersed with a lot of knowledge, truly a well-tactical warrior.” He told her in praise while Sora merely quirked a brow at the compliment. “Oh yeah, he’s smart at times.” She nonchalantly remarked while not getting it herself that made Roswell chuckle a bit.
Raiden grimaced at his friend lack of common knowledge. “I sincerely apologize for the intrusion of my unknowledgeable team mate.” He sheepishly told the young man. “Hey I heard that!” Sora frowned at the man in distaste while Roswell simply smiled graciously.
“Oh no, Sora is delightful company and already quite helpful despite coming from the humble merchant village.” He explained thoughtfully and glanced at her with a look that made Sora feel unsure of her next reaction. He looked lost in his thoughts and quite hesitant to continue with his words.
“You see, I’m helping him find his brother.” She quickly explained while shrugging her shoulders, she need not to hide any information now after all. “Miss Viola gave a deadline until tomorrow though.” She added while Roswell smiled sheepishly at the acknowledgement of the fact.
“Well the faster the better really. My family is dead-worried after all.” He managed a somewhat hoarse laugh that made both team mates cringed. The mission was indeed quite delicate from the looks of it; the young nobleman seemed to take it not too lightly.
“Of course Roswell-sama, that’s why I’m here to ask for a lead or any places that he often visits.” Sora sheepishly explained to the man as Raiden simply shook his head and sighed inwardly. This young woman had her own set of charms it seemed to please other people even though she wasn’t nearly as beautiful and exquisite as Cosette- not that he noticed any of it or paid attention to those things. The male frowned slightly and shifted his footing from his stance.
What mattered to him right now were simply and solely the skills and abilities to be a useful and helpful team member and reclaim his family’s glory. ( Haichi: You really had to explain that much? *laugh*)
“Hmm, my brother and I are not actually close and try to keep each other’s distances.” Roswell told them thoughtfully and once again looked out the window. “He often likes flirting with women until they can’t help it but do their best to resist him though.” He explained briefly and shrugged at the notion of it to which both Sora and Raiden seemed to have question marks popping at the confusing and rather contradictory statement.
“He’s quite notorious already even without the family name really.” A small smile tugged at his pale pink lips. “He’s said to be more attractive to females than me; well it’s not that I really try to compete with him at that.” He chuckled lightly but both team mates could feel the rivalry beneath that tone. “I don’t have to do any of that after all.” he finished with a small smile despite not facing them. Raiden could not help himself but sweat drop and Sora was silently agreeing to her own dismay.
“Oh and he sometimes sneak out the Capital to laze around the meadows and forests around this place- however, I am aware that my parents have apprehended that and ordered the gatekeepers to never let him out to escape.” He added with a small chuckle before he turned to face them. “I do hope that helps you Miss Sora.” He told her amicably and grasped her hand gently. “If there is anything else that you require, please do not hesitate to ask.” He smiled earnestly at her before kissing her hand gently and looking into her deep green hued eyes.
Sora shyly looked back into his eyes; those ruby red eyes were always an enthralling hue that never ceased to captivate her… Robin’s!
She shifted to look at Raiden who looked somewhat disgusted and she couldn’t help but giggle inwardly. “Thank you Roswell-sama, I will keep that in mind.” She smiled and gently pulled her hand away to avoid hurt feelings. “My friend and I should better get going then.” She toothily grinned at him like a young child, “We’ll find him, I promise.” She declared while Roswell smiled graciously and nodded his head.
“Ahem.” Raiden intruded the young man and woman from making more conversations. The male walked to her and grabbed her hand with a firm grip. “As she had said to you sir- We’re off to search for your brother. It was an honor to meet you Roswell.” Raiden told the young man before he dragged Sora away from the young man and outside the room, leaving the male somewhat shocked at the sudden gesture that happened as his brows raised and his mouth pursed for a moment.
In a minute though, a small and quiet laugh erupted from the nobleman’s lips. The warrior was indeed quite entertaining to play with; he would love to twist the male more under his thumb if the opportunity allowed it. It would have seemed quite unnoticed to anyone if they had been present but not with Roswell’s discerning eye. He swept his long, silver and lustrous hair back. It was sure to him that sooner or later some hearts would soon fall in love or break into two. He knew where that silent aggressiveness came from and had already seen it before.
“Hope to talk to you next time!” Raiden had called out sheepishly to the nobleman in attempt to appear polite before pulling Sora downstairs as fast as he could that it was like the young woman was flying in the air. Sora was completely baffled by the complexities of the male who seemed irritated yet honored at the same time with the person that they had just met up now.
She sighed a bit and looked at the young male who seemed to be blushing slightly in embarrassment. “Oi! Raiden are you feeling okay?” She spoke up and stopped her tracks. Raiden sighed irritatingly and looked at her in annoyance, his eyes narrowed onto the shorter figure before him but never stopped to release her hand from his firm grip.
“What is it?” he grumbled slightly at her as they left the flower boutique. “Why did you act funny?” she innocently asked while he quirked a brow at her. “What do you mean?” he glowered at her, not taking the remark very nicely. “You don’t like Roswell right?” she asked and the male formed a silent death glare at her, as some people stopped their tracks in astonishment. “Why wouldn’t I not like him?” he told her icily and she grimaced.
“You-”She started to speak up and he hastily placed a finger on her lip. “I just don’t like you thinking he’s more attractive than me.” He sheepishly said and averted his gaze to the ground. Some of the women around them giggled, some men sweat-dropped and Sora’s jaw dropped, not noticing at all the people who had been eavesdropping on them since she first uttered the name of the noble.
Raiden was really acting funny.
He would never, ever say something as pathetic and cringe worthy like that. This was a warrior she was with; this was a male who seemed to adore his blade more than women or any other material thing. This was the male that said harsh words to her when they first met. He told her before that she would never become a part of their guild and here he was saying that he felt jealous that she, she the pitiful merchant thought that the nobleman looked better than him?
“Let’s talk about this in private shall we?” he told her sickeningly sweetly and pulled her into an alley. “Now first things first Sora please don’t say anything that could get us killed!” he remarked crossly at her that filled her with confusion. Her head tilted to the side, somewhat he thought that it was kind of endearing but he shook his head and grumbled under his breath about her idiocy. “Why so? I just asked if you don’t like him.” She pouted at the male and he sighed at her ignorance.
“Do you know who he is?” he asked while crossing his arms at her. “Um Roswell Williams?” she shrugged nonchalantly. “Exactly.” He stated and nodded his head; glad she managed to get as much information like that. “Exactly what?” Sora asked him while peering at his face that looked too smug right now. “Don’t you know the Williams family?” he asked her, voice aggravated. “Of course- wait, not that Williams family?!” she gaped at him and he firmly nodded at her before he backed a bit for she was too close for comfort.
“What?” she frowned in confusion at his actions before Raiden shook his head and waved her off with his hand. “Let’s just start looking for Robin.” He muttered while her eyes widened and she corned him to the wall once more. “How do you know his name?” she interrogated him and he glowered at her.
“I met him today, that’s all. I know where he headed so we should go there as fast as we can right?” he answered her and pushed her off of him and walked off. “Follow me.” He called out to her.
Sora inwardly sighed at her forceful reaction and ran after him. “Hey wait up! What if he didn’t stay too long?” she called after him in a jog. “That’s why we hurry short-cake.” He rolled his eyes at her and picked up his pace. Sora cussed under her breath and began to run and kept at that pace just to keep up with him. “Where do you think he was going?” she queried to herself while the male simply ignored her and kept jogging.
Where could have that man stayed? Certainly not in one place if he was chased by a herd of women. Most likely out to the meadow but it wouldn’t be surprising if he started to flirt with a beautiful woman if he could see one. ‘Cosette.’ His minds immediately flew to his team mate and worried if that finicky man founded her before they found him.
