Chapter 12

1287 Words
Lily's POV I sit there. Feet firmly placed on the ground and hands wresting in my lap, frozen as Noah runs out the door. "Where is he going?" Heather continues to pace. "I don't know, he was clearly mind linking, maybe it's about the attacks on the east side or he went to tell Cal what's happening, I don't know." I shake my head "He was part wolf when he ran out. When you threatened Amber she said 'why wait', she's probably already here." I'm starting to shake but I try to remain as still as possible. I can't look weak at a time like this. Heather stops pacing to look at me. I look up at her and try to straighten my furrowed eyebrows. "If that's true then I'm going to follow through with my threat by ripping out her throat." I look away from her amber eyes and focus on my breathing. "You can't do that. We have to stay here until further notice." She laughs, causing me to look back at her. She was back to pacing, running her hands through her hair. "If I sense danger I'm going out there. I'm a luna, there's no way in hell I'm staying locked up in here." She stops and looks at the floor, concentrating, mind linking" she growls. "What? What is it? Is Noah okay?" I stand looking at her with frantic eyes. She narrows her eyes at me "Can't you listen? They told us both" she starts pacing again. I take a deep breath "I can't mind link with them because I haven't yet been officially accepted into the pact. Remember?" I roll my eyes. "Oh yeah, we didn't get to that part did we" she mumbled. I give an impatient sigh "Well what's going on?" She stops her pacing and stares at me once again. "Look at you, your shaking" she shakes her head. "Pathetic" she mumbles under her breath. I feel my face go red in anger and embarrassment. "I'm worried for him, of course I'm shaking. I have no idea what's going on" I spat. She shook her head again and concentrated. Her face went pale. "What is it!" I growled. I can't stand when people ignore me, and make me feel irrelevant. She looks at me then starts pacing again. I was already wringing my hands out of frustration and worry. I waited for her to say something, but she doesn't. So I tackle her, but before we hit the ground she somehow turned managed to turn me mid fall so that I was the one who hit the floor with a big thud. My head banged off the floor and I winced trying to bring my hands up to head but noticed they were trapped beneath Heather. She was sitting on me and looking at me in such a way that if looks could kill I would be dead. "What did you think you were going to accomplish with that little stunt?" I groaned in frustration. Come on. Give me a break, this girl was off guard and she still managed to get the upper hand, who the hell trained this girl. "I was going to try to get information out of you but I guess that's not going to work."  She glared at me some more before standing up and holding out her hand for me to take. My eyes practically fall out my head as I stare at her hand. This was so out of character of her, from what I gathered of her she's a pretty violent person, but goes all girly around Noah. I thought she'd be using that hand to punch me. "My hand won't stay here forever" she snapped at me. I stood without her help and faced her with my arms crossed, just in case. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, then opened them again. This time I saw worry and fear in her eyes and her voice wobbled as she explained. "Alpha Rickman's pack is a lot larger than ours. I was mind linking with Jim and he was telling me that Rickman's pack fighters are pouring into our pack, they're out numbering our fighters. We've already lost a lot of our fighters from the amount of attacks on the east side. We also have a lot of fighters who are still in training. We don't stand a chance."  I gulp "What about alliances? You guys must have other people who can help" I say desperately. She shakes her head "The other alliance we have will take almost half a day to get here and they only just left, it'll take them forever to get here. We have other alliances who live closer but their also allied with Rickmans side. So they won't choose a side. Rickmans alliance with us goes back centuries, we were all so close. I can't believe he would do this to us." Oh no. What does this mean for Noah? For the Pack? "Were going out there. Now" She says turning towards the door before I grab her arm. "We have to stay here. Noah has a lot on his plate and his wolf is already weak and indecisive. What if someone decides to attack us? Noah won't be able to defend us both." "Then he'll be forced choose. I don't know about you but I can't handle not knowing who he's going to accept and who he's going to reject." "He can't choose. Not now it's too late. If he rejects one of us then his wolf will go into mourning, I don't know how Noah's wolf is but some wolves shut down when their mouring another. Some goes into rage, and that's to risky, he won't know the difference between his own pack and another." She shrugs. "Look, I need you there because if things go down between Noah and Rickman, it's going to be a battle to the death with everyone who stands beside them. We need to protect this pack from Rickman, I will not allow him to become alpha of this pack. We will fight if need be, and I will need back up. Two luna's together make up one alpha, and if Noah can't fight him off we will." She walks to the door but I stop her again. "Are you forgetting that I can't fight? I'm an awful fighter, I haven't been taught how to fight like you." "Can you access your wolf?" she asks. I nod. "Good, stand back if a fight breaks out and attack anyone from the opposite pack who is winning a fight against our member. Only attack them if their back is to you and make sure you go for their neck first. Make no mistakes." I swallow my nerves and  nod again. We walk out the door side by side. "Just remember one thing Heather." I say looking straight ahead. "And what's that" she says flatly. "I'm not your enemy. So when you see an opportunity to kill me. Don't take it." She looks at me and I turn my head towards her. She has an eyebrow raised "I may seem like an Amber to you but I'm not. Were both matched to the same person, so I'm sure were not as different as we think we are." I doubt that but I won't bother arguing with her about that. "Just remember." "I will. And you remember the same." She walks off ahead of me and starts jogging. I run to catch up. I practically got into a fight with her two times already, and she put me in my place both times. I don't think she has to worry about that.
