Purebloods have very few rules to follow because we are the apex predator. Being at the top of the food chain comes with perks. I can knock a human out, scramble their memory if that’s what I need, kill them with ease—human laws mean very little to me. Their traditions mean even less. Marriage. My Violet views it differently than I do. It was a contract, a merger between two large families. The purpose isn’t love and it’s not to procreate—it’s all about gaining power and influence to maintain dominion over our territories.
It’s not about feelings. It’s business.
Then again, for my species, everything is transactional. Any emotions we feel are fueled by our hunger for blood or need to procreate. Everything is done to fulfill me, for my desire to be sated
