Brenda’s POV.
Cecilia kept on bombarding me with questions as she found it hard to believe that I had met the most influential billionaire in the country.
“What would people think or say when they hear about what transpired between you and your ex’s uncle?” She asked, but it seemed like she was lost in a trance—because she kept on looking at a particular spot for some minutes without batting an eyelid.
“I don’t know,” I mumbled as I sighed deeply, and that managed to jolt her back to reality.
“Who knows, I can use him to get back at my ex,” I suddenly thought, as a smirk appeared on my face.
“It wouldn’t be a bad idea after all....I just hope I get to see him again,” I said slowly, before flashing Cecilia a very beautiful and big smile—as she concocted a confused look.
**********
I had an afternoon shift, so I was on my way to the restaurant.....
I got there on time and began working—serving people their food.
Different people came into the restaurant, making it filled to the brim with people. The workload was too much because I kept on walking around—and my leg began to hurt.
I suddenly started limping, as I found it difficult to stand comfortably anymore.
Just as I was serving them, I noticed something unusual...
Everyone slowly began to disperse, as they took their food and left the restaurant making us confused.
I walked up to a fellow waiter with confusion etched on my forehead, “What’s going on?” But he simply shrugged, because it seemed like he didn’t know what was happening too.
Just as I was still in my world of thoughts, a young man cladded in a black suit walked up to me....with a very strict expression on his face.
His face looked oddly familiar, as I was lost in thoughts—wondering how possible it was for me to know him....only for me to slowly remember that I saw his face the night I went to the club.
He was behind my ex’s uncle in the club, as it looked like he was on duty that night....and almost immediately, a sly smile appeared on my face.
“He’s here,” I thought, and a wry chuckle escaped my lips.
“Who are you?” I asked with a frown on my face, as I pretended like I didn’t know him.
“You won’t know me, but I’m pretty sure you’ll know my boss,” He said with no ounce of a smile on his face, making him look like a sadist.
“Who is this your boss?” I asked, and he shrugged as he walked out—
“Follow me,” He paused and continued walking, and just like a magic force—I walked behind him closely, following him.
He took me to the V.V.I.P section of the restaurant and my walking steps changed instantly.
I walked as I swayed my hips slowly smiling seductively. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I had a feeling that I could use him to get back to my ex for hurting me to the extent of making me feel like I meant nothing to him.
Immediately he took notice of my presence, he stood and waited for me to come to where he was.
“You’re here,” He flashed me a handsome smile that I returned sweetly, as I couldn’t help staring at his lips.
He had such a sweet voice that managed to send a tingling sensation down my spine.
“You again?” I questioned acting shocked, but the only thing he could do at that moment was to let out a dry chuckle, as he folded his arms staring at me amusedly.
“Have a seat,” He said sitting down, and I sat down reluctantly....
“I’d have asked you if you remembered me, but it’s obvious you did,” He said, interlocking his gaze with mine.
When I managed to get myself, I diverted my gaze from him as I cleared my throat nervously....but shockingly, he was on the verge of laughing and only a serious glare from me managed to send shivers down his spine.
“Are you okay now?” He asked, making me wonder what he meant by that question.
“What do you mean?” I inquired with a raised brow.
“I met you at the club and while I carried you home, you kept on asking me questions like, ‘Am I a regret?’ ‘Why do people hate me?’” He mimicked my voice, with a funny and cute pout—and acted like I was the one talking.
I became extremely shy and I found it hard to look at him in the eye because I wondered how he must have been frustrated that day.
He suddenly cleared his throat, making me avert my gaze to look at him— “You don’t have to be embarrassed, it’s not your fault,” he said, making me gasp in awe wondering how he must have known that I was feeling embarrassed.
“Can you look at me now?” He asked, and I mouthed an O—because it became clear that he only knew it because I refused to stare at him in the eye.
I slowly looked up to meet his gaze on me, as he wore a handsome smile...
“Can you please tell me why you went to the club that day?” He pleaded, but I slowly shook my head.
I literally couldn’t bring myself to tell him that I went to the club to drink because I was heartbroken by his cousin...
It didn’t sound like a good idea at all!
“I’m sorry, it’s my private life and I’m not ready to talk about it now,” I said, and that was it.....He nodded like he understood my plight before raising his hands in surrender.
“I won’t ask you about it again,” He promised, and with that—I flashed him a beautiful smile.
“I also have a proposal to make,” He started with a nervous smile, and I raised an eyebrow in confusion as I wasn’t expecting it.
“What’s it?” I inquired, but he didn’t reply...and after a long and awkward silence.
He stretched forth a paper which has been on the table for a while now, but I didn’t take notice of it—not until now.
I collected it, with a confused look as I opened it slowly—wondering what it contained...
“Would you please be my Contract wife?” He asked as I looked taken aback.
This shocked me to the core because this was the last thing I was expecting...
But it could be my only chance to pay Gary back for all he has done to me, and rejecting this proposal would make me the biggest fool of the century—but I still needed to be sure that I heard him correctly.
“What?”
