Chapter Five

1215 Words
Brenda’s POV. “What the hell is he saying,” I couldn’t believe my ears, as I found it very difficult to believe that the most popular and hot Zillionaire in the country was seated before me, asking me to be his contract wife. I suddenly cleared my throat and took another glance at him, “I don’t know why it seems to me that you’re joking,” I said, smiling lightly—but I was met with an expressionless face. “Are you in or out Brenda?” He asked with a blank look which was void of emotions, but something else surprised me. How in heaven’s name did he know my name is Brenda, I couldn’t ask him that now as the atmosphere was too awkward and cold. It also seemed to me that he had this rude personality, and....heck! “I don’t know what else to think about,” I thought silently. “I’m waiting,” He said, pressing his lips together... “What would my answer be?” If Lucian was truly higher than Gary, then the best thing I could do at this moment was to accept him—then make Gary pay! “Yes,” I said slowly, as I found myself praying silently that I wouldn’t end up regretting this decision. “Then sign this,” He pushed the paper on the bed towards me with the tip of his finger. “Do I need to go through it?” I asked, but he shrugged with a nonchalant look He said blankly, “It’s all your choice,” After thinking about it, I collected it from him and signed it quickly, before handing it back to him. “There’ll be nothing there that’ll shock me again apart from this,” I wondered... “Nice doing business with you,” He flashed me a handsome smile, and I really couldn’t believe my eyes. He looks handsome whenever he smiles, and for a minute—I thought about complimenting him before I suddenly decided against it. “My driver will come pick you up tomorrow, just get prepared to leave by 6...and don’t take any of your clothes while coming to my house,” He said, leaving me confused. “Coming to where?” “Clothes for what?” All these rummaged through my mind as I was confused hearing him talk... “You didn’t read it?” He chuckled slightly, showing off his set of white teeth. In a way, it felt as if he was mocking me—but he coordinated himself after a few seconds. “You’ll be living with me, starting from tomorrow—so don’t take any of your clothes while coming,” He said, as I felt his gaze on me from my head to my toe—before he continued. “You’ll be getting married to one of the richest men in this country—so you shouldn’t be seen in this,” He pointed at my dress, with a light frown evident on his eyebrows. I felt myself shudder in embarrassment, but on a second thought—I decided not to feel bad. “He wanted me, so he got me—at least, he should be happy,” I thought silently and let out a low sigh. I wasn’t going into this marriage for him, but because of what I wanted.....which was to make Gary pay! At that moment, I didn’t care what his reason was and why he wanted me to marry me—but what clouded my mind was how to make the revenge towards Gary sweet and painful. “See you tomorrow,” He said, and walked briskly out of the restaurant—and I suddenly breathed out, not knowing how long I kept my breath in. He had this aura around him that made me comport myself whenever I was with him. “So I’m getting married?” I thought, and I suddenly facepalmed myself. There and then, I decided that this would be a little secret from my parents—they’ll never be in support of it if I let them know—so it’s better I keep it from them. I was suddenly grateful that I had foresight then and decided to leave the country—far from where they were, which made me not see my parents nor my younger sister for years now. “Haew,” I breathed deeply and turned only to meet a shocker waiting for me. There stood the CEO of the restaurant looking at me with a slight smile on his face, and I began to wonder how long he must have stood there. “Brenda,” He said, coming towards me with a large smile on his face. “I think it’s time you give up the job,” He said, and I arched my brows wondering if he heard everything I and Lucian discussed. “What do you mean?” I asked pretentiously, as I tried to sound firm. “Sir Lucian told me that you’ll stop working here and that he has taken charge of protecting you,” He said, as I mouthed an Oh. “You’re the best waitress I have in this restaurant, so letting you go isn’t an easy thing—but I have to respect him,” He said, as his eyes became red and teary. I wasn’t in the mood for all his emotional talks, so I simply nodded—flashing him a beautiful smile. “See you,” He said, as he waved at me. The rest of the workers were so confused when they saw me come out of the changing room, and when Mr Noah kept on waving at me till I walked out of the restaurant. I heaved deeply the moment I walked out of the restaurant, inhaling the fresh air outside. “That scumbag should wait for me,” I thought as a mischievous smile appeared on my lips. “Now what is she thinking?” Someone suddenly asked behind me, and I quickly turned around—holding my chest. It was Cecilia! “Gosh, you have the knack for scaring me,” I groaned, breathing heavily. “Why do you have that look of mischief on your face?” She asked, but I suddenly thought that it wouldn’t be proper to tell her about it now. We were on the road, so I needed to change the topic. “Where are you headed?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at her because I began suspecting her. “No, it’s not what you think...He called me and pleaded with me that he wanted to talk,” She said, and I chuckled— I have my ways of making her talk! “Even after everything he did?” I couldn’t believe my ears, because I knew everything he had done to her. Well, it was all love—and that was what would have happened to me and Gary if he had pleaded with me, but he didn’t. So my ultimate motive and goal was to seek revenge! Revenge for hurting me, and breaking me to the core! “I promise to make Gary pay,” I had this look of determination, as I swore within myself.
