Trinette
It's been half an hour since we've arrived in Freya's place. Condo unit to be exact. We had enough time for Freya to convince me to take a bath and let me borrow her clothes. I really don't want to since I don't wanna bother her, but she's too much of a hard-headed and insisted for me to take a bath in her bathroom and wear her stuff. I was gonna leave but Freya didn't allowed me, considering the fact that my face is filled with wounds and bruises from the incident in school— she wants me to wait for the nurse and doctor to arrive to apply treatment on my wounds.
I stared at the nurse as she was busy applying some kind of ointment on the wounds of my skin. She looks so focused.
I must say, Freya is really quite lucky to have these things at a very young age. If I'm not mistaken, she's still sixteen, the same age as me but already has her own condo unit.
"Ow—" I hissed in pain when I felt a sudden sting on my arm. I looked at it and it was from my burn. "Sorry," the nurse apologized. I slightly lowered my head at her. "It's fine." I said.
Her lips curved into a smile a bit then she asked, "Where did you get this burn?"
I don't wanna answer it since it reminds me on what happened this noon.
But still, I heave a small sigh. "Cigarette." I simply said. I saw her doing a single firm nod. "Figures." She said.
"So you smoke?" she asked. I immediately shake my head due to the question. I will never smoke, it reminds me of him.
"No," I said. She puts down the ointment back in the kit after applying it on some of my wounds. As she closed the kit, she asked, "Where did you get it then?"
"Just a person accidentally ran their lighted cigarette on my skin. It was an accident so it was no big deal." I lied. I don't wanna admit that I'm being treated badly at school. I know they'll act pity about it and there's nothing worse than that.
"I see," she nodded then she smiled genuinely at me. "Well be careful next time, sweetheart. Cigarette burns are the worst." She commented. I nodded in agreement before she kept all of her things then turned her back at me.
I pursed my lips before I positioned myself sitting properly on the couch. I'm in the living room with the nurse, Chris and Daniel are outside— guarding the door. While Freya, the doctor and the man that was naked a while ago is in the bedroom. I'm assuming its her bedroom. Obviously.
Its been thirty minutes since they are inside the room. I wonder what's currently happening. I guess the man's situation was very serious then. I looked at the bedroom's door. Wondering. I wonder if what I saw a while ago was real. He came out from a big slit— like a portal in the air and fell right on top of me.
I slightly tilted my head. What if it was all a dream 'coz I've lost consciousness? I scrunched my nose. Well that doesn't answer the question on how did I fall back in the rooftop when I clearly remembered that I was already standing on the ledge. And a man on top of me! Geez.
"How about your cut?" I suddenly came back to my senses when the nurse faced me again while holding a ball of wet cotton. I blinked couple of times as I look at her dumbfounded.
"Huh?"
"Your cut," she repeated while pointing at her own cheek just on the part just below the cheekbone. Absentmindedly, I brought my fingers to my face then touches my cheek.
"Ouch!" I hissed in pain then the nurse quickly held my wrist as she moves my hand away. "Don't touch it. It might get infected." She said. I slowly put my hand down. "You didn't notice, huh?" she asked as she sits comfortably beside me, so I faced her.
"I guess so." I said. "Well your hair was covering the cut this whole time, good thing I checked your face." She said. I just nodded in response as I saw her smile.
She's nice.
Instead of staring at her while disinfecting my cut, my eyes wandered around and landed on the door of Freya's bedroom.
I knitted my eyebrows. This is so weird. I heaved a deep sigh. My life is weird and miserable but its my first time to encounter this weirdness.
A man that suddenly appeared in the air. Maybe I was just hallucinating. Mom definitely made that sh*t up to prevent me from doing it. I shut my eyes.
I deny witnessing that event myself. I might even just be dreaming at this point and I'm in a hospital bed, fighting for my life. Who knows.
"Hss— Ow!" I opened my eyes then hissed when I felt a sting on my cheek due to the alcohol being rubbed on my cut. "A little bit more." The nurse said then she taped the small bandage on it. Small enough not to be a hassle on my face.
Guess it wasn't really a dream then.
"I still can't figure it out, Freya." I heard a soft deep voice along with the click of the door. I opened my eyes and found Freya and the doctor exiting the bedroom. I sat up properly, looking at them while they were talking.
"Its odd," the doctor takes off his eyeglass and a piece of cloth from the small pocket on his chest then wipes it while talking. "He doesn't have a heartbeat— I can't even hear it using my stethoscope but he is breathing." He continued. I tilted my head.
It is indeed odd.
"My friend swore he's alive." Said Freya then she looked at me. I got stunned for a moment then I immediately nodded my head.
"Are you sure, miss?" he asked. I gulped down saliva. I don't even know if I'm sure. My mind was occupied and I was ready to take my own life then the man just suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
"Yes.." I still answered affirmatively. The doctor heave a sigh before turning to Freya. "I'll look more into this. I would gladly take him to our hospital but it will cost money." He said.
"I can pay for it—" Freya's words got cut off. Geez. Rich kid.
"No, Freya. I don't want you spending money on something especially for someone who's not even related to you. I know it's an act of kindness but your father will not be in favor with this if he knows about it." He said. I can see Freya's disappointed expression on her face but still she nodded. The doctor gave me a piercing look before he walks away then the nurse follows.
Okay? That was weird and rude. ._.
The moment that the door clicked close, Freya approached me and said. "Don't mind him. He's just like dad." She said.
"Seems like you two are close." I said. She nodded a bit. "Well, yes. He's my dad's schoolmate during middle school and they were quite close so dad hired him as our family doctor aside from being a doctor in general." She said.
"I see," I mumbled.
Some people are just really fortunate in life.
"Do you know something about your friend?" I looked at Freya. Right, I claimed a stranger as my friend. I can't really blame myself, he looked like he really needs help a while ago. He was barely breathing.
"What?"
"Like is he a bad person or— No offense! I'm just asking." Freya said then she plastered a nervous smile on her face.
Should I just lie? "You did found him naked, do you think he has like a problem in his head?" Yeah, maybe I should just lie.
"I'm not sure, he doesn't really talk much about himself to me." I said. "Maybe he was hiding things from me like... problems." I added, finishing it off with a reassuring smile.
"Oh..." Freya nodded slowly. She looks convinced. "Well atleast he's kinda safe now." She continued with a sweet smile. I just nodded at her remark then slowly looks away from her.
"And Tri," she called out as she sits beside me. I looked at her. "Hmm?"
"You can stay here if you want." She said. I looked at her dumbfounded.
Stay here? "Stay here?"
She plastered a smile. "Yeah," Freya leans her back on the couch. "You might hate me for mentioning it but there are some rumors about you having problems in your own home."
I stared at her. My mind is currently blank right now.
"That," Freya paused. "You were abused." Don't cry.
"I figured out that, of course.." She shrugged. "You don't wanna go home in that place so you can stay here for as long as you want."
I blinked. "But... this is your place." I reasoned out.
She chuckled softly. "My parents only gave me this place for future purposes and plus, I still have two years before deciding if I should live here by myself." She said with a smile.
Honestly, I always thought rich people are cruel. That they use their money to gain power over eveything, to take what they want and less on what they need. That they look down on people who have less power than them. That they don't treat people equally. But I guess Freya isn't one of them.
I hope so.
"Freya.." She smiled sweetly at me. My heart felt warm and cozy that I didn't what happened but I just immediately wrapped my arms around her then embraced her tightly.
"Thank you so much." I mumbled. I can feel her wrapping her arms around me as well then rubbing my back, but I maintained myself not to shed a tear.
"Its not a big deal, Trinette. You deserve peace." She said as she broke the hug. I just looked at her, smiling widely.
"You look nice when you smile." She said. I just chuckled.

"Are you sure you're not gonna go in?" I asked Chris once again that is standing outside the condo unit. Its been two hours since Freya left with Daniel and it's already 1 a.m. Chris is still outside guarding the unit, right in the hallway. He was left with me so that someone could guide, guard and take care of me while Freya is gone.
"For the nth time, kid." He turn his head at me. "No." He firmly said. I purses my lips. "It's kinda cold in this hallway, do you want a jacke—"
"Kid, it's 1 a.m. Get some sleep." He said while giving me a bored face.
"But you won't get any sleep.." I said. "You can sleep in the couch if you want—" I got cut off when he starts to push me back inside gently.
"Just leave me alone, alright?" he plastered a big fake grin on his face as he said those words before closing the door.
"But I—" I sighed at the sight of the door close. Geez, he's very serious with his job. I guess Freya's dad really pay him well.
I sighed as I decided to just give up convincing Chris to rest. I guess bodyguards are that devoted in their job. I silently walked my way back on the bedroom. There are actually two bedrooms in here. I wonder why Freya has two bedrooms when she mentioned that she's gonna live alone in here someday. I walk passed by the room where the man is. Freya told me that he's asleep and the doctor advised to not disturb him, he might be in a critical health situation due to the fact that they can't find his pulse.
I inhaled deeply as I tilt my head while looking at the doorknob.
A peek wouldn't hurt.
Slowly, I held the doorknob and twisted it open then I gently pushes the door open. My eyes wandered around the room for a moment before it landed on the man sleeping peacefully on the bed. The same man who fell on top of me on the rooftop except... he looks neat and not naked anymore, of course. I leaned my temple on the door as I stare at him sleeping. The blanket is placed just right on top on his chest then covers the rest of his body. He's wearing a round neck white shirt, matching the white bed sheets. Even though I'm meters away from him, I can still see his facial features.
He looks like a decent man.
I wonder what his name is.
I wonder where he's from.
But the fact that he appeared in thin air, going out from what seems like a portal makes me think... what is he?
