The Queen and Her Protector

Chapter 7

It took Charlie hours to listen to what was expected, when she would take the throne, the history of Venus, the rules about her powers. They had even discussed much to Charlie’s dismay her relationship with Adam, how things would work from now on and it just was overwhelming to her.

They had eventually done the test on her powers and that had been too much as well.

It felt like they would never get home, Tyler sensed that and so he ended the session for the day. Thank goodness they were beamed to the hotel but when they arrived Adam took note of her body language. Charlie hadn’t said much since they returned from Venus, he watched her pace around with that thinking face of hers. She was frowning with her thumb and index finger squeezing her bottom lip.

“Charlie what’s going through your mind?”

He leaned against the wall, with his arms crossed staring at her.

“Honestly Adam, I am sad for my parents but mostly I’m livid, at you, directly at you. How dare you put your life…”

Charlie watched as Adam approached her, when she lifted her hand to stop him. He stopped and looked at him strangely.

“No Adam, let me talk. How could you endanger your life to save mine! What right did you have…”

Adam ignored her once more and moved forward. She heard a tiny shattering sound as if she had a shield and he had physically and mentally destroyed it.

He kissed her forehead, hoping it would calm her down. Charlie wouldn’t let him smooth this major situation like it was nothing, not this time.

“I love you, with all my heart, if anyone is going to protect you it’s me. You may be livid at my decision but it’s my decision to make.”

Adam lifted her face with his finger, she held him with everything she had.

“That’s not fair Adam! I could’ve… How can I match your love!?”

“Kitten you can choose to denounce me as your protector but you would reverse your powers. You’d have to start off with one power, sort of.”

Adam didn’t want to be manipulative or cruel but he had to make sure she understood the consequences.

Charlie pushed Adam away, she couldn’t deal with him right now or the pressure of his feelings. Hell she hadn’t even known if her feelings could match that of Adam’s. Charlie walked to the bathroom as fast as she could manage, she needed some space to process and think about all of this. She heard the room’s door open and close, she assumed that Adam had left.

Charlie stripped her clothes and started the shower, she needed to relax. Charlie let the water run down her body, grateful for the moment she was having. Everything she knew was turned upside down, while she was trying to wrap her head around it all.

As a marine, you’re trained to adapt to the worst possible mental, physical and/or verbal situation. This was by far the worst, the pressure seemed so much that Charlie mentally blocked it out. She didn’t want to think too much or too deep into it.

When Charlie was done with her shower, she put on her robe, got onto the bed and let sleep prevail.

Charlie woke up when she heard a knock on the door. Charlie fixed herself then went to the door, saw Adam through the peephole and opened it. Adam was leaning against the doorframe.

Charlie was glad for that sleep, for in the dream she had. She had thought about the whole insane situation but clearly they were in it together for the long haul. Her decisions were his and vice versa, Adam had given up a lot to be with her and she had to acknowledge that.

He could have just walked away but he hadn’t, Adam had given up his life for her. How many people could say that in their lifetimes?

“I’m surprised you opened the door.”

Charlie came back from her reverie and smiled at him, shaking her head. How could a man look so devilishly handsome as he did, it had to be a crime.

Did he even know how he drew her in like a magnetic?

“Knock on door etiquette not precise enough for you?”

Adam laughed a little then he entered the room. She looked so radiantly beautiful to him, he couldn’t resist pulling her towards him and kissing her. He liked how stunned she looked after.

He pulled back, closed the door and guided them to bench by the bed.

“I guess we have a lot to talk about.”

Charlie sighed as she sat down comfortably next to him. She leaned her cheek on her hand and looked at Adam with a sweet simple look on her face.

“Do we?”

Adam pulled Charlie towards him, turning her to face away from him. He heard her laugh so deeply; it was so lovely to hear. He took her hands and played with her fingers and she let him.

Adam had known stepping away from the situation and giving her time to process would help them. Finally the moment he had been waiting for had come, peace between them and no secrets.

“Does it scare you?”

Charlie removed her hands from his, sometimes she just needed her thoughts to herself.

“Okay holding hands is freaking me out, I can literally hear your thoughts.”

Adam kissed her hair.

“It’s part of our connection with each other, I can hear yours as well. Your parents could do the same when they put their foreheads together, it’s different for everyone.”

Charlie turned around and sat on his lap, her eyes were closed as she caressed his face.

“Adam I am freaking out about this powerful bond between us, being the queen, ruling a planet, the powers, galaxy wars! It’s selfish I know but I hate that I can never truly be what I want.”

Adam held her face and made her look at him.

“You can walk away from this, you’ll still have your powers. No one can take away who you are but you can leave and be who you want.”

“Adam we both know I won’t, it’s just a little too much to handle actually and when I was in that place they tested me, the powers I have are unreal.”

Adam rubbed her cheek with his fingers, when Adam himself found out he had made sure Tyler told him everything they were planning on doing to her. He was not about to send her in with no clue what they would do to her. He cared too much for Charlie to disrespect her like that. He knew the risk was going to be greater when she proved to have all 3 powers, something he blamed himself for even though Tyler had assured him it wasn’t Adam’s fault.

Adam wanted to control her narrative, if they both had knowledge of Venus and her connection with the planet then they’d be in control instead of depending on people they didn’t know. He pulled back to look at her.

“You have 3 powers connected to the flower from which your family powers stem. You are the first female Venusian to have that many and because of that you are now the one they want as the galaxy’s defender, not just Venus.”

Charlie rested her forehead on Adam’s shoulders, groaning very loudly. Of course he would be the one to think ahead, it was so like him to plan for every detail. Adam lived his life like that, he never did anything impulsive, he planned ahead and it happened, if it backfired he had option b and c, hell Adam probably had plans that covered the whole alphabet.

Charlie rolled her eyes as it all came together, she stretched her fingers up and down his shoulders. She put a stray hair strand back in place when she talked to him.

Charlie placed her forehead on Adam’s, relief flowed through her body, she felt much better knowing that Adam had looked out for her. Charlie leaned back, taking her time to look at Adam, she placed her hands on his beard. He was rocking this stubble he had going on, you could see bits of grey hair in between, she rubbed it gently.

“Charlie.”

Adam wasn’t holding her hands but she heard the message through his stern tone.

“Adam.”

He heard her mocking tone and it was completely different to the message he was trying to convey.

“We cannot have this happening again, you need to learn how to harness, control and use your powers correctly before you end up killing me.”

Charlie curled up on his lap.

“I’m sorry Adam, all I can think of is having you and nothing else.”

“I know kitten, I want the same thing…”

Hearing Adam speak made her body move of its own accord. Adam anticipated her move and held her hands firmly. Did Adam know how wonderful it felt to be held like this?

“Charlie please...”

When Adam spoke she heard the strain in his voice. Charlie climbed onto Adam’s lap and started grinding her body against his with a frenzy Adam couldn’t explain. He watched her move him gently onto the bed, powerless to her seduction.

Adam pulled the tie from her robe and moved it down to her waist. Adam held one of her breasts, putting his mouth on her n****e and sucking it.

He loved how her body arched, how she clutched his hair, she cries out his name over and over again. When he was done with the one breast he moved over to the other and put it in his mouth and repeated the process.

He kissed her so potently that he felt her squirm and moan, he loved how she writhed underneath him at his touch. Adam knew he was danger of losing himself but for some reason he couldn’t stop himself.

Charlie felt it when she took Adam’s essence from him and he let her, she could feel him losing himself and suddenly she was fighting this power to stop it from overtaking.

She didn’t know how but she had summoned Tyler because he appeared in front of her. Charlie put her robe back on and ran towards Tyler and held him, whispering what she was experiencing. Tyler was not accustomed to being this familiar with royalty but clearly this was his Highness’ comfort zone so he tolerated it.

As soon as Tyler appeared Adam knelt down, bowing before his queen all the while feeling jealous that she would turn to Tyler rather than to him.

Tyler alerted her that she needed to send Adam away but she refused stating Tyler had to send him away.

“Protector you may leave Her Highness, I’ll take it from here.”

Adam rose and left but not before Charlie saw the hurt look on his face. When he left Charlie felt it easier to breathe, Tyler witnessed Charlie pacing at a rapid rate.

“Tyler I couldn’t control myself, it slipped and all of a sudden my head was crowded with these feelings of Adam, to consume him. I nearly killed him didn’t I, I could feel it.”

Tyler stood with his hands behind his back, which Charlie was getting accustomed to.

“Breathe, Your Highness, it is with great regret that the universe bestowed you with multiple powers, so any level of intimacy with your protector puts him at risk. One power is controllable but you have all 6 powers and that is extraordinarily forceful.

Even your truest of loves cannot contain the power you have therefore we need to start lessons immediately so you can control it.”

As much as Adam was her protector, she was his queen and his life came before hers no matter what the cost.

“Six?! Tyler you said I had three before.”

“You just unlocked the other three.”

She sat down, trying to process this.

“Okay, has someone ever possessed all 6?”

“No Your Highness but four thousand years ago King Damon was tested and found that he had 4 divine powers. He had air manipulation, kinetics, telepathy and water.

He discovered his mate at the age of 11, Paula protected him. To this day when people speak of King Damon, it is done so with great sadness.”

Charlie curled up on the couch so intrigued by this story, Tyler’s voice had her enthralling in it.

“Why sadness?”

“King Damon had just wed Paula and they were to mate.”

Tyler watched as Her Highness blushed and laughed all at once but very interested in the story and it didn’t surprise him. If his love was dependant on him, he’d want as much information as possible.

“You make us sound like animals Tyler, it’s so crazy.”

“They were being intimate, the bubble appeared to protect the planet from them and all was well. Once they were secured in the bubble things got complicated, King Damon somehow began feeding off of Paula’s life force, purely by accident. By the time he realized what was happening it was too late.

You see King Damon’s power of air and water manifested while they were mating, he was drowning her and cutting her air supply at the same time. Your powers of electricity and air come alive when you are intimate with your protector. Air to fill the bubble you are in so you both may be able to breathe and electricity to protect anyone or anything from trying to stop the consummation.

For some royals the powers of air and electricity will appear only for intimacy and for other royals the powers are within them, permanently.”

This had been the weirdest day for Charlie, the fighting and the reveals but goodness it had also been interesting. Most of this was freaky but Tyler made it seem so cool.

“Why the bubble though?”

“Your powers even if it’s just one are extremely powerful, it can flatten a whole planet and so the bubble is created in order to protect the people from you.”

One life does not outweigh on the many, Charlie’s sergeant always used to say that.

“Was King Damon the only one with multiple powers?”

“Yes but now there is you.”

“Tyler what exactly are my powers and where do our powers come from?”

“Remember I told you your powers run in your family. Well eons ago your many greats grandfather went to pray as our planet was being invaded and we could not stop the invaders. King Kyron was given a flower from the Divine which contained 3 major powers of love. Body, mind and soul, the Divine told him to pick one and if he was fruitful and kind his powers would manifest. So he picked soul and the Divine gave him the soul sucking powers. King Kyron used this to send the invaders away and was granted another for not using his power excessively. He was given an Eros power.

So this love plant has three love powers, Agape, love of soul; Eros, love of body and Philos; love of mind.

The plant contains many powers and each royal has their own power/s according to how much they can handle. The plant has three leaves, Agape, Eros and Philos which are known as the primary leaves then it splits into 3 more secondary leaves Mania, love at first sight; Pragma, practical love and Agape, this is the purest of loves and we assume that once the plant determines your love then it gives you the powers according to your heart.

We believe you have the Agape love like King Damon and therefore you have been blessed with all 6.

You get 2 powers from each primary leaf of the plant. Your soul powers included soul restoration which means you can restore a soul from the brink of death and you can take a soul away and conscious separation which means you can separate a soul from its body.”

“So like Dr Strange basically.”

“Yes like the actor, your mind powers include a psychic shield which means you are highly resistant to any mental intrusion, can resist being manipulated or controlled by others and Illusion manipulation which means you can create shapes and manipulate images causing others to see, touch, hear or even smell things which aren’t there. And last your body powers include control of all elements, fire, air, water and ground, pretty self-explanatory and energy manipulation, electricity in simple terms.”
