The Queen and Her Protector

Chapter 9

Charlie looked at Tyler then at Adam, from what they had told Charlie from her history is that protectors never fought with their soulmates in case something went wrong.

“What aren’t you telling me Tyler?”

“Usually it isn’t this easy to defeat your advisor or your mentors but you have done so with such ease that it makes me worry. You need someone to challenge you and neither of us has.”

“I know I’m not supposed to be touching Adam in that way, I will hurt him.”
Tyler took out the suit he had been developing since he thought this may be a possibility. He gave it to Adam.

“Here is a suit, I assure you its Charlie proof.”

Adam took it and put it on in the next room, it felt pretty amazing. He jumped a little and put a dent on the tiles. He went back to the training room and smiled at Charlie.

“This suit feels awesome kitten like I can achieve just about anything.”

“You can Your Majesty; it will also be your battle suit whenever you two go fight. Your Majesty, Your Highness could you please begin to battle?”

“Are you ready kitten?”

“Adam I’m about to kick your butt.”

“Bring it on baby.”

“As you wish honey.”

Adam was the first to attack, it’s like the suit knew what he wanted to do and helped him reach Charlie faster. Adam punched her shoulder and Charlie fell down as she wasn’t expecting him to hurt her.

“Tyler what the hell?”

“The suit is tapping into Adam’s capabilities and is enhancing it.”

Charlie got up using her air manipulation and grabbed Adam’s hand and twisted it. Adam groaned at first then he pushed her towards the floor. Charlie faced him and grabbed his neck and pressed her thumb on his throat. Adam pushed her arm away from his throat. He tried to get his breath back while dodging all of her kicking attempts. When Charlie tried to kick him one more time, he grabbed her leg and pushed it back down. Taking advantage of her stunned expression, he grabbed her wrists and pinned her down to the ground.

Charlie used her air manipulation by using her hand and concentrating, making Adam float in the air. She took him down by kicking him in the abdomen; Charlie wrapped her legs around his neck and tried to choke Adam. Adam used his elbow to hit Charlie in her abdomen; Charlie in turn blocked it but touching his suit and electrifying him. It didn’t work; it only heightened Adam’s suit ability. Adam used that same electricity and touched Charlie which threw her against the wall. Charlie ran towards Adam and he ran to her but she bent down and knocked him to the ground using her legs. Charlie got up and turned to face Adam when he got up and punched her stomach. She opened her hand, built a water bubble and fell into the water instead of the ground. Adam used his hand, placed his arm into the bubble and pulled her out. As he did she grabbed his neck and electrocuted him.

Charlie took advantage of his moment of weakness to get up. Adam took hold of her ankle and pulled her towards him. They look at each other for a moment and Adam took advantage of that moment and held her hands, trying to read her thoughts as well. She knew what he was trying to do so she used her psychic shield to block him out. She saw him mouth the words well done and she smiled at him.

“Charlie you have to push harder now okay.”

Charlie heard the message behind his tone and nodded.

She picked up her battle strategy a few notes and Adam pushed her harder than any training she’d ever been used to.

By day 15 she had a very strong loathing for Adam, with that suit helping him he had won every battle and she just couldn’t figure out how to beat him no matter what strategy she came up with, no matter how much guidance she received. She made her way to the training and waited in the centre as usual for Adam who joined her and gave his battle stance.

Adam charged at Charlie, grabbing her and turning her body away. He pushed her knees down; causing Charlie to fall on the ground. Charlie then head butted Adam and he moved backwards, letting go of her. Charlie got up to and turned around to face Adam; as she did Adam pulled two knives from his pants and sliced Charlie on her upper arm. Charlie looked at the cut then looked at Adam. Charlie conjured up two fire balls and threw it at Adam which he dodged. Charlie took advantage of his startled look and punched Adam in the face; Adam swayed a little.

Charlie grabbed Adam’s shoulders and hit his gut with her knee. Adam swiped Charlie across her abdomen and pushed Charlie on the floor. Adam took the opportunity to jump onto Zach and push the knife near Charlie’s face. Charlie pushed Adam off of her by using her air manipulation. She got hold of Adam’s shoulder and stunned him with a few electrical currents. Adam commended Charlie for her resolve.

“Well done Charlie, You’ve won your first battle.”

Before day 23 training she decided to watch the recording from her mom again but still she didn’t get any advice. When she put the USB back she was reminded that she hadn’t seen her father’s recording yet. She played it and listened to him.

“Hey pumpkin patch, you must be wondering what we’ve gotten you into, I fully blame your mom for this one. I wish we were there to see you grow and mature but unfortunately it wasn’t in the cards. I pray you’ve found a man who absolutely would die for you the way we would. Do not be overwhelmed by this love baby doll, be filled with it. Hahaha, I don’t know what else to say to you except to listen. Listen to the power that’s most demanding in your head at that moment in the battles. Your body knows which power to use; it’s just up to your brain on how you use it. I’ve seen this from watching your mom and hearing her thoughts. Listen to that little voice that tells you what to do and let it flow.

Oh and Charlie I love you so much my love, be happy with him.”

It took a while for Charlie to register she was crying, she hadn’t heard her dad’s voice since she was seven. She fell to the floor and cried even harder, she missed them so much especially now.

That’s how Adam found Charlie; he rushed to her and picked her up, cradling her in his arms. He took her hand, trying to figure out what he could. He kissed her forehead and tried to comfort her as best he could. She was such a strong person that he forgot she could be very fragile too. She had taken in so much so fast and not complained once about the load.

“I am here to bear that load with you Charlie.”

Charlie held onto Adam as tightly as she could. Only he could understand how much pain she was feeling and only he could help her ease it. She heard his thoughts when he thought about the load, only Adam could be this sensitive towards her. She loved him so much, it hurt sometimes.

The way he said her name always made her melt. She also loved the way he looked at her. Adam pulled her up so she could look right at him. He ran his thumb across her bottom lip and she opened her mouth to suck on it. And just like that his mouth was on hers, ravishing every bit of her.

He bit her lip and dragged it slowly between his teeth before sliding his tongue along her lips. She moaned and shivered instantly at his touch. She had such a sexy moan. His hands were all over her, touching her. He kissed her neck and worked his way down. Charlie pulled herself away and caught her breath.

Adam picked her up and kissed her senseless again. Burning was all she could think of, her lips, her hands, her body, everywhere he touched she burnt. She clung to him, wanting more. Adam loved the taste of her.

He pulled her lower lip between his teeth and enjoyed her response. He could feel her nails digging into his shoulders and that thrilled him. He felt his control slipping and she was to blame but he didn't care. He felt her tremble before she pulled back again. She looked at him with those adorable brown eyes.

“Adam do you think I can do this?”

He took her hands and held it while looking at her.

“I know you can, you just need to not think too much, just feel it.”

“I love you Adam, so much.”

“I love you Charlie, more than you can imagination. Now let’s go smash this training.”

“Okay.”

They went to the training room where Anthony and Tyler were waiting for them.

They began at the centre as usual and took their battle stances. Just as they came towards each other there was a massive explosion. Tyler and Adam immediately came to Charlie’s side. A guard ran in and whispered in Tyler’s ear. Tyler turned to Adam as they moved towards the explosion.

“Your Majesty the flower has disappeared. There was an attack and it seems they tried to get the flower but…”

Before Tyler could finish his sentence he stopped talking. Immediately aware that someone was in the forcing Tyler not to move Charlie produced a fire line to block the view of whoever was trying to control Tyler.

“Thank you Your Highness, Your Majesty the twins are here and I think they are trying to kidnap me.”

Charlie looked around and moved the fire so she could see them. She froze for a second when she saw who it was then she sprang into action and went straight to the two men she recognised.

The first guy sped past her but she turned the water into ice and he flew into the wall. She turned to face the next guy who was already at her side and got into her mind, trying to taunt her.

She blocked him from her mind, drew up an energy blast and hit him with it. He landed next to his partner.

The one guy picked up the other and they ran towards the river. Charlie ran after them through the harbour, knowing that Adam was behind her in his suit.

Charlie kept on chasing them until they split up; she focussed on the guy in front of her and used the ground to take him away from his course where he landed on the ground. She then pursued the other assailant using the rivers water to drown him out. When she was sure she knocked him out she pulled him from the water. Charlie pulled the other guy from the ground and put him with the other guy.

“Do you know who we are?”

“Yes, you’re responsible for killing my Godparents. Now you’re going to pay.”

Adam stepped forward and tried to stop Charlie.

“Charlie you don’t have to do this.”

Charlie ignored his advice and she drew up ice and threw it at them both, one of them stood firm and turned to steel. Charlie conjured up a huge fire then blasted him with the flame then she turned that flame into ice. Adam tried to stop her but she use air manipulation to blast him further away. She ran to the assailant then she turned the ice into a sharp sword and broke him into pieces, his partner looked at her then flew away. She melted the pieces and let it burn and turned to the guy in the sky. Adam distracted her from killing the other guy; she turned her fury on him.

“How dare you try to stop me?!”

“Charlie.”

“No.”

Adam went to her and pushed him away violently and went to the explosion. When she got there she found the council waiting for her, the chairman spoke to her.

“The plant has disappeared Your Highness.”

Charlie paced up and down, trying to look for any kind of clue.

“Tyler I need you here please.”

“Your Majesty are you alright?”

“I am not, I recognised those 2 men. I don’t know their names but I remember their faces. They are responsible for killing my aunt and uncle. But you all knew that and decided to keep that from me as if you had any right to withhold that kind of information from me. I will be taking this matter further but now isn’t the time. How has the plant disappeared?”

The councilman spoke.

“It was in danger and so it has been said in order to not have it in the wrong hands it will disappear. It has never happened before as all the other planets have pledged not to take it away from us.”
