Charlie woke up drenched in sweat, she turned to see Adam sleeping soundly next to her. She was grateful that she hadn’t woken him up. She got up from her bed, put on a robe and went to the balcony, taking in the early morning sight of the Eiffel tower.
Charlie thought about earlier on, what they had shared between each other, she couldn’t explain it but she had a feeling that she could handle it, him. It was as if her body was telling her what to do and she just followed. She touched herself where Adam had left definite marks on her, they had been gentle and vicious all at once. At some point she thought they weren’t going to make it but their love had overcome everything. She was so happy she hadn’t killed him because a life without Adam seemed extremely painful to live with.
She ran her fingers through her tousled hair, thinking about that hectic dream and tried to control her breathing, it had been so intense like she had actually been there, fighting this massive battle and losing her friends, her people. She felt like she was really dying, she just needed a moment and this beautiful image in front of her.
Adam groaned as he woke up, he turned to grab Charlie but was met with an empty side. He got up and went in search of Charlie. He saw the balcony doors open and Adam went to her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Good morning Mrs Stewart, officially.”
“Good morning to you Mr Stewart.”
He kissed her shoulder blade.
“How are you feeling?”
“Thoroughly feeling like a woman who was ravished by her handsome husband.”
“How did you sleep?”
“I had a nightmare, God said the answer would come in a dream but this dream was vicious.”
Adam took her hands and saw what she had dreamt. He was quiet for a very long time then he looked at her. He kissed her hair and whispered.
“Gear up right now.”
She frowned at him.
“Adam what’s going on?”
Adam didn’t say anything, he held her hand and spoke to her privately.
“Pull up your mind shield so no one can hear our thoughts.”
Charlie did as Adam commanded and waited for him to think again.
“I think the way it works is you have a dream or nightmare, once you share it with me then it comes together sort of like a puzzle. The first piece is right here in front of us, the Eiffel Tower.”
Adam showed her how the dream effect worked and she stared at him in wonder.
“Okay I’ll gear up.”
Charlie brought down her shield and they got ready together. Adam phoned the concierge and arranged for their luggage that they weren’t using to go straight to the airport in the next hour.
Charlie phoned a contact of hers from the Marines on a secure line and asked him for a favour. Charlie and Adam meet Pierre at the lobby of the hotel where he was waiting for her.
"Cherie, how are you?"
He embraced her with a massive hug.
"I'm good, it’s been a while, I'm glad you could help us out. This is Adam my husband."
Pierre shook Adam’s hand.
“Nice to meet you Pierre and thank you for your help.”
Pierre shrugged and laughed at him.
“It is my pleasure, Charlie saved my ass a lot at the Marines.”
Pierre escorted them to the car as they made their way out of the hotel and to the Eiffel Tower. When they got to the entrance, a teenager came rushing to Charlie. He picked her up and spun her around. He kissed her cheek and she laughed.
"I've missed you Charlie. You don't Skype anymore."
Charlie looked at Jean-Louis, he had grown taller. She ruffled his hair as he set her down.
"I know, I’ve been gone undercover for a while, Jean-Louis this is Adam my husband.”
Jean-Louis shook Adam’s hand and asked them to follow him. Adam told her it would be on the second level and she had to use her powers to find it. He would take Pierre and Jean-Louis to the third level and distract them there.
When Charlie got to the second level she began her search. So according to Adam’s thoughts she had to choose one power to find the plant and it had to be connected to the area which they searched. She assumed the Paris was the city of love so she was looking for the Agape leaf. It must be where you could see Paris. So she went up to the site and found the leaf near the telescope overlooking a beautiful view of Paris.
Charlie placed it carefully in the container, sealed it and put in her bag and made her way to the guys when Scott appeared. He was leaning against the door the railing, smirking at her.
"Hello Charlie."
Immediately the shield came up and Charlie shielded her mind from him.
"Who are you?”
Scott placed his hand on his chest, smiling at her. He came forward but she pushed him back using her air powers.
“Oh I’m Scott, the guy whose brother you killed.” He looked at her begrudgingly while Charlie smiled.
“Right, the brother who you helped killed my godparents. Look Scott I want to chit chat and catch up but I have a planet to rule.”
“A planet I’m soon to destroy.”
"We'll see."
Charlie saw him move closer as she stepped backwards until her back felt the wall. Before Scott could get his knife Charlie threw fireballs at him then she climbed on the railing and stood there. She knew she got his arm when she heard him curse. Charlie smirked at Scott, when she tried to jump Scott grabbed her. She knocked his head with hers and Scott fell back. Scott continued fighting with Charlie, throwing all he had to her. That was the illusion Charlie left Scott with when she used the elevator to get to the guys. She knew it would only last a few minutes but at least by then they would be gone.
Pierre handed Adam and her helmets, they put it on and jumped on the bike. They fled through the traffic, Pierre made it look so easy. A few minutes later they arrived at the airport. Pierre got them through customs and they all left together on one of the private planes.
