Alpha Stone. “Lucianna.” “Stay with me, please.” “Stay, give me some time to get help.” “Stay with me, please!” “Lucy!” I woke up with a start, I flipped the light on the bedside up on, beads of perspiration had dampened my face down to my neck. I fell back on the bed with my head against the pillow, staring dumbly at the ceiling. I searched for my phone underneath the pillow and took it out. It was just past 11pm. I had slept in early because of a serious headache, and I had taken some medication and gone to bed. I wanted to relax my head for a while. Only to wander off into a nightmare, I stared at the screen of my phone and sighed. Placed it beside me, and got up from the bed, there was no point in lying down, it would end up haunting me even more or worse. I took and walked out of the room, into my study, and put the lights on, I started working on the paperwork on my desk, and ordered one of the maids to get me some coffee. My phone beeped, and came on, there had been an update from Raven’s page, which I had avoided ever since what happened, I didn’t know what I was going to say to her, and I didn’t know why I did that, I was so lost in that moment. I picked up my phone, staring at her contact, I couldn’t stop avoiding it, I had to confront what I did. I decided to send a message which was the easiest way to get it over with. *It was a mistake* I dropped the phone and sighed with a hand clasped over my forehead, I lowered my head and breathed out. I remained in the study room the whole night working on my desk, I couldn’t think of what to do, or how I was going to face her again. What was I going to say to her? When she asked what the mistake was? Wouldn’t it be so shameless that I thought she was my mate for a second? I didn’t want that. I worked till the morning, and when Jamal came into the study room with a teacup, that was when I knew what the time was, I had kept my phone away from me after I sent her that message. I didn’t want to know what her response was, I didn’t know how I was going to check it. “Alpha.” “I heard you were in here all night.” “Did something happen again?” He dropped the teacup on my table. “Are you okay?” I nodded, as he pulled out a chair to sit on. I folded my arms around the table. “You don’t look that way to me.” “What’s going on?” “You haven’t been the same ever since you went to meet with Raven, and you never told me how the whole event went, and what happened, did you discuss business with her?” “I already told you it wasn’t business.” “Then what?” I shook my head. I couldn’t even bring myself to say it, and what I was going to say, so I had to keep quiet about it. “Something happened didn’t it?” “Something you didn’t want to say, what was it?” “It’s nothing.” “Then when should the next meeting be? You have to inform her of some of our agenda, you have been hesitating when it comes to her, ever since you found out about her identity. You weren’t like this when we were searching….” “I had the same dream last night.” He clamped his lips shut. “That hasn’t happened in a while, how come you had it again?” “I guess I’ve been stressed lately.” “No, I think it’s because of her, that’s why you’re thinking again, that’s why all of this is happening.” I did have a moment of what ifs, it was the thought I had before I fell asleep, that was it, but I never thought I was going to have that dream again. “I can’t see her for a while.” “You mean, Raven?” “Yes.” “Should I go to her instead,” He brought out his tablet and pointed down to something on it. “…this was her and Alpha Musky, it was captured yesterday, and there’s a possibility he’s trying to form alliances, but he’s someone not to be trusted, you know that Alpha, he’s just…” “Looking for a way to get through to her and when he has secured enough chances to attack, he will seize power.” I completed his words. He snapped his fingers. “Exactly.” “If we get to inform her about this, we are having her down at our side.” I shook my head, “I don’t want to go through that plan anymore.” “Alpha.” “I don’t want to go through with her, I don’t want to use her to get what I want, she’s nothing to do with all of this, her only mistake was getting married to Ethan.” He scoffed. “You don’t mind that.” “I have thought about it.” “She’s the only one who can break through.” “We have to find another way.” “It can’t just be her.” “Have you been able to secure someone else in the last five years? We haven’t been able to do that Alpha, and now we have her this close and you’re going to push it all away?” “Have you really thought this through or are you making this decision because of emotions that you’re having, is that the reason you’re thinking this way?” “If I had known, I should have stopped you from going to that restaurant with her, I should have gone there instead, from the very moment, I should have been the one to approach. We won’t be going through this right now.” He said, and I tapped my fingers over the table. “Her father is the Alpha of the Neverland Pack, he’s not innocent…” I lifted my head and saw his hardened face. “If you had forgotten what happened years ago, I haven’t, Alpha, every day I see the scar right in front of me, as a f*****g reminder.” “I woke up with that nightmare and you think I’ve forgotten.” “Then why should you spare her!” “That’s why I can’t understand, Alpha, we need her and I’m not going to back down, because we’ve made plans, nights we go without sleeping, working and now it’s the time to finally put those plans in place…” “I kissed her that night.” His back hit the chair in defeat, he stared like he was completely lost for words, I looked down at the table, not knowing the words to say after, I did say it, right after I promised myself never to let that work out. “H—how?” “I don’t know, Jamal, I can’t even explain it.” “Did you confuse her with Lucianna?” That was the whole issue, I didn’t, she was just so different, and I didn’t know what came over me, what made me look her in the eye, what made me offer to drive her home and see to it that she got home safe. Was it all because of that face? “I don’t think I did.” “You don’t sound certain.” “Because I’m not certain of what I felt at that moment, and that’s why I can’t face her.” “You can’t afford to face the consequences, so you’re running away from it, aren't you, Alpha?” “I would…” “What?” “You’ve to go meet her, Alpha, and get rid of the whole idea and not go through with her, now you’ve to make her trust you, we can’t spare anyone, not even her, don’t forget. She’s part of the reason we lost your mate.” “The reason Lucianna died was all because of her.”
