Raven.
I saw him walk through the front door of the restaurant in a black suit and pants, neatly tailored to his body. He was led down to the reservation table where I sat, I already saw him coming down to me before he did.
“Hi.”
“Hey.”
We needed to say something despite the awkwardness at the beginning. He sat down in front of me, and I pushed the menu towards him. “You can order whatever you want, I’m paying.”
He stared at me with a small smile before he picked up the menu, and trailed his fingers over it.
“I’ll get this.”
I turned over to the waitress who was beside us and gave her the orders.
“Is this why you wanted to see me?” He asked with his hands stretched over the table.
I nodded curtly. I didn’t want to give too much meaning to it, and that’s why I just nodded at him.
His hands rested over the table, and I saw his lips stretched out in a smile when he saw the necklace I had put on. I'm sure he wasn’t expecting to see the diamond necklace he gave me.
“It looks pretty on you.”
I smiled and waited for our meal. I wanted to know why he never talked about the reason he came for me, he was the most unpredictable, I couldn’t share in his thoughts or what his idea was, neither was his intentions or interests.
He offered to pay for the meal, and he wasn’t going to let me use my money while he was there, so I had to let him pay for the meal.
He was quiet and so was I.
“Will I see you again?”
“Depends.”
“On?”
“If you want to see me or not.”
“No one is going to stop you from doing that.”
“Well, except you.”
“The last time you didn’t look too pleased to see me, I thought I had made a mistake in coming to you, and got me thinking I did something wrong.”
“I had a lot going on at that moment,” I said, and looked away from him, we walked slowly down to where his car was parked.
“Thank you for inviting me to dinner, it’s good to see you again.”
I nodded. I just wanted to make up for my attitude towards him, and it didn’t seem like he wanted any from me yet, and he had been on my side, and I hope that didn’t change.
But I wasn’t quite sure.
“Do you have plans on getting your kids back?” He asked, and I had to take my gaze back at him. “I wasn’t quite sure about that yet.”
“I don’t know how I’m going to take them away from him, and he already said he wasn’t going to ever let me take them away, and…”
“I don’t know how I’m going to change their mind from Symphony yet.”
“You mean the lady we saw at the Gala?”
“Yes.”
“If I act while being irrational, I might get them to hate me a lot more,” I said, and that wasn’t part of my plan. I didn’t want them feeling that way towards me, but I was going to find a way, and whatever Symphony had done to them.
“How can anyone hate you?” He asked quietly as she kept walking, “And I know that you’re busy, you have to keep the Pack in check.”
I folded my arms around my chest, knowing that he was right about some of the things he said, and I needed to be careful, and how I was going to run the affairs of the Pack.
We were heading closer to where his car was parked. “Are you leaving the Pack this late?”
“You were the reason I came, and I can’t stay any longer, I have to leave.”
“Except you don’t want me to leave, that’s the only way I would have to stay behind.”
“It’s late.”
“I’m not scared of the dark, Raven, I was born out of it.”
“What if…”
“No what-ifs.”
We stopped walking when we got to his car, he placed his hands in his pockets and leaned on the car door.
“Can I drive you home?”
I chuckled softly. “I don’t think you want to go home. Alpha Stone.”
“After I've seen you’ve got home safe.”
“But my driver is already here.”
“He can tail behind us, I don’t mind that, I want to see you get home. Safe.”
“You can just call me,” I said with the smile still on my face, he didn’t look convinced, he did intend to take me home.
“But I wanted to take you home.” He moved away from the door, opened it, I glanced over at my driver who was ahead of us, and I had to send him a message to meet me at home.
I walked down to the car and got in. He closed the door, walked over to the driver’s seat, and started the car, driving me all the way home.
I watched him drive with a smile on his face, it was weird seeing him that way, this was the first time I was seeing him with such a smile on his face. “Do you mind me asking?”
He tilted his head at me. “About what?”
“Why the smile?”
He chuckled softly and glanced back at the road. “You.”
He stopped the car in front of the gate of the house, I was still staring at him, while his hand tapped against the steering wheel. The gate opened, and he drove in.
He came down from the car and opened the side of the car door for me, holding my hand as I stepped out of the car.
He didn’t let go of my hand even when I was right beside him. I didn’t expect him to pull me close to himself, his hand had gone round my waist, and for a second, I thought time had gone still, even when I felt his lips on mine.
