Alpha Stone. I didn’t have a clear reason why I gave her the necklace, I didn’t know what drew me into giving her the necklace. I had that necklace with me for years, I never thought I would be able to give it to someone else, and I think of part of letting go which I never wanted to do. “What will you do?” Jamal asked, he was the one I referred to as my Beta, and a close friend. “She has been divorced, and all the Alphas in the pack and wealthy businessmen are after her, they want her and everything that comes with it, don’t you think it’s time for you to make a move?” He asked and pulled out a chair to sit. “I saw her being close to Kaid, you know how hard he has been trying to get me ever since that incident.” “Kaid is a rough businessman and he might be using her for something, what if he intends to get back at you, I don’t think he forgot what happened.” “I don’t think he will ever forget about it,” I said with a sigh. “But I’m ready to face Kaid anytime.” “But, he might be coming from another direction, I think that’s why he’s been around Lady Raven.” He was right, I could never tell what he was planning, but I wasn’t just going to sit down and watch them make plans. I had to come up with something soon. “What will you do?” I shook my head. “I’m a bit confused.” “Do you want to go to her?” “Everyone is going for her, you should at least benefit from it, instead of sitting aside.” “Do you want me to use her as well?” “Do you want her to see you differently? She’s still going to think that you’re using her at the end of the day, once she finds out about everything.” “I don’t want that to be now.” “Why?” “Because she looks like your mate?” I bit my lower lip and didn’t say anything further, I folded my arms around my chest, and couldn’t reply to him. “It’s been over a decade and a few years,” “She stirred it up again. When I saw her, I got flashes.” “That’s why you’ve been hesitating, we’ve been making these plans for years, and we have been searching for that hacker as well. We had no idea that it was going to be her. We can’t afford to delay further and now is the perfect time to start moving forward.” He leaned close with his arms over the table. “Don’t let her shake you up,” “I know you gave her the necklace, I watched you taking time to pick out the perfect dress for her, you did all of that because of something, and that was a feeling that was stirring in you.” “That’s why I wanted to stop seeing her.” “No, you don’t have to, Alpha because we need her skills, we would be able to move further with our plan. You have to remember that Lucianna is dead, and there’s no way that Lady Raven will be here.” “You’re right Jamal.” “We’ve to take advantage of every chance we’ve got.” He nodded at me and leaned back in his seat. “Exactly my point.” I did agree that I was distracted for a moment, she had the same striking eyes as her, her long brown hair, though her nose was a bit straight, and the shape of her lips was different, hers was fuller. I needed to clear my head of those thoughts and focus on what was important. It can never be her, she was just someone that has a little resemblance to her and that was it. “So what will you do, Alpha?” “I should set up a meeting with her.” He nodded. “Should I do that for you? We have to use one of the burner phones to contact her else she might decide to track us. We can’t trust her just yet.” “I will do it.” “Alpha, you can’t call her with your phone.” “I want to know what she will do, if she would indeed track down my location.” “Alpha Stone.” He drawled out. “I know what I’m doing.” I took my phone from the table, I wasn’t going to call her here, but outside the house, in close distance from here, that’s where I was going to call her. “I’m going to trust you on that but it’s partially. I can’t trust you completely when it comes to her. It would have been preferable if it had been a man instead of anyone other than a woman. You haven’t stared at a woman this long except her, you even had to listen to her talk about her marriage with Ethan, and f**k, Alpha, they have kids!” “Do you have to remind me about that?” “Yes, I have to keep you on track.” “Have you seen them? The kids.” “Yes,” I admitted, I had seen them a few times, but I never told her about it. He sighed. “You’re getting too far. Alpha.” “They are Ethan’s kids too, I need to know everything.” He narrowed his suspicious gaze on me, and I stared at her contact on my phone. She wanted to return the things I got for her. I didn’t know why I didn’t take it from her, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. She acted differently too, she seemed shocked to see me, and as if there was something she was hiding, but I didn’t want to pressure her, when it came to her, I wanted to take things gently. When I wasn’t supposed to. I had gone out to make the call as intended, her phone rang, and in a second she picked up the phone. “Hello, Raven, it’s Alpha Stone.” I waited a few seconds before she replied. “You did call.” “Were you expecting my call?” She didn’t say anything. “I wanted you to have this contact, so you can call me anytime you need my help. That’s why I called, and…” “I wanted to check in.” “I wanted to know if you’re okay.” “I’m fine.” Her reply was short but it was enough to know that she was fine. “Is there another reason you called?” I wanted to ask if we could meet up, but I couldn’t bring myself to say that. I would have asked Jamal to set up the meeting as he had said. “No.” “I wanted to know if you’re okay, you looked stressed out the last time I saw you,” I waited for a reply from her, and it seems she was taking her time to respond to me. “I’ve been a bit stressed out and I didn’t get to thank you for what you did, you helped with my divorce, my lawyer told me about it, and I want to treat you to dinner. When will you be free?” I wanted to stay away, I didn’t want to get too close and keep everything work-related, but I didn’t know how I was going to do this when she was asking me for dinner. I couldn’t bring myself to say no. “Will you be free tomorrow night?” “Yes.” “Then I will see you tomorrow night, Alpha.”
