Before I could push him away, someone else had stepped in, grabbed Ethan by the collar, and pulled him backward.
“You’re so shameless.” He spat.
I was relieved that his hands had left me and stared at the man who had taken him away from me.
Alpha Stone.
He stood before Ethan in a tailored black suit, some inches taller than Ethan, and he was more confident and poised.
His hand was still around Ethan’s shoulder. “You’re divorced,” He said quietly as if he was disgusted by what Ethan had done.
He glanced around. “You came to her workplace, you should have acted well enough, you’re an Alpha, and you have this kind of a disgraceful character.”
“I don’t think this has anything to do with you.” Ethan snarled at him. “This is between me and me.”
“Why are you still clinging to her, she already said you’re divorced, scared that you’re going to fall apart?” Alpha Stone smirked, there was something evil about the way he smiled with those eyes at Ethan.
“I made her,” Ethan growled confidently at her. “I gave her everything…”
I chuckled amusingly. “Isn’t that the other way around?”
“You should leave,” I warned him.
He yanked Alpha Stone’s grip from his collar and freed himself.
“Leave? We still have some things to sort out.” He took a fierce approach down to me, but Alpha Stone stopped him, shielding me from Ethan. “You have no business with this Stone.” He gritted his teeth.
“I do.”
“How?”
“Raven is going to be my date at the Gala event, I can’t allow just anyone to harass her.”
“Anyone?” Ethan’s eyes darted from me to Alpha Stone.
I didn’t have to respond to him when he gave me that stare, I wanted him to leave.
He snorted. “I’m not just anyone,” He was probably correcting Alpha Stone who didn’t seem to care about his words.
“You agree to be his date?”
“What is your plan to be with a married woman?”
Alpha Stone stared at me over his shoulder, and his hand gently brushed against mine.
“For the record, she’s very much single.”
Ethan’s gaze darkened, his breath got a bit heavy, and I saw him clench his fist. “I know this is a way for you to get at me, Alpha Stone, that’s probably your plan, but it’s not going to work, you will never get Raven.” His words were filled with malice, Alpha Stone gently led me out of his presence with his hands around my shoulders protectively, all that for Ethan to see.
I could tell he was fuming as he stood watching us, and then he stumbled his way out of the building.
“This is my office.”
“I wasn’t expecting you today.”
“I wanted to come ask you in person, I felt it was a bit disrespectful sending it over email.” He pulled out a chair for me to sit.
“That’s why I came to see you.”
“How did you know I’ll be here, did you stalk me?”
He chuckled at my words but didn’t answer.
“I brought you some flowers, I guess the one he brought was ruined.”
“I don’t think I need his flowers,” I replied with my hand on the table, and my face resting over my hand.
“Then you will need mine.” He snapped his fingers, the door of my office opened, and a tall man came in with bouquets of roses.
I smiled, lifting my head at the man who had just come in.
Alpha Stone took the flowers from his hand, and walked around to me, “This is for you, Raven.”
I took the flowers from him with a smile.
“So will you be my date to the Gala?” He adjusted his suit and went back to take his seat.
“Yes.”
I saw him smile, there was a way his eyes went smaller when he smiled.
“If there’s anything you need, you should let me know.”
I nodded curtly.
“I’ll attend it before the Gala, and let me be the one to pick your dress, it’s going to look stunning on you.” He said, and I chuckled.
I don’t think Alpha Stone has any woman at his side, it was a bit more difficult to get through him than any other Alpha.
He was a bit more technical and not that easy to read. I could easily walk past other Alphas flirting with a smile, and I already knew what their thoughts were, but with Alpha Stone, it was different.
As if he were the one who could see me, but my view of him was blocked.
“Why are you doing all of this?”
“To entice me?”
He shook his head with a small smile. “I want to.”
“Is that a good reason?”
“I think it’s something more.”
He didn’t seem like he was ready to say it yet, or maybe something was holding him back from saying it.
He leaned closer to the table, both hands on the table, and I have never seen anyone stare at me so keenly before.
“I want to get to know you, Raven.”
“And I’ve been around you long enough to know that I can’t sense your wolf around you. I wonder why,”
I broke eye contact with him.
“I wasn’t going to ask.” He quickly said, “I don’t mind that, my scent is enough to cover both of our wolves.”
I smile sadly.
“I lost it completely when…” My words hung in my throat.
“You don’t have to say it, Raven.” He reached out for my hand across the table. “If you’re not comfortable sharing it, you don’t have to tell me, and I don’t think we are close enough to sharing secrets.”
“It’s no secret, I’ve kids, a twin,” I mentioned and swallowed.
“My wolf was wounded when I got pregnant with my twins, I almost lost my life too,”
“What did he do?”
“You mean Ethan?”
“He did nothing.”
“That was when he was supposed to give you his strength, he shouldn’t have let you suffer alone.” His hand squeezed mine.
“I’m already healing from it.”
“It doesn’t seem like you are, Raven.”
“You may be right, seeing my twins act like I was some temporary babysitter hurt me, and it was all because of Ethan.”
He kept quiet, his eyes still fixed on me, he was listening to everything that I said.
“I just want to get away from him,” I didn’t know what made me say all of that to him, if it was because he had seen me with Ethan, or because I needed someone to talk to ever since what happened.
The only one I have been talking with is my lawyer.
“Isn’t that why you divorced him?”
“He cheated, I was going to manage if it was just with the kids, but he wanted more than that, and he refused to sign the divorce papers, he wants to keep me tied down to him,” I licked my lips. “So I’m thinking of charging him in court. I think that’s how we are going to resolve all of this.”
He didn’t let go of my hand, even when I kept my head down.
“I’m sorry I’m telling you all of this…”
“No, it’s fine.”
“You’ve been holding all that in.”
It was a lot worse, I just didn’t have to say all that, and he happened to be the one I was telling all of this to.
“I’ve a lawyer, and we can urge the case, he would have no choice but to sign the papers.”
“I have it under control.”
“It didn’t seem like you had it under control earlier. He was going to hurt you, and he didn’t care where, you don’t need a man like him at your side. Ethan doesn’t deserve you.”
