Alpha Asher Stone. Staring at her, I started to hate myself for having those thoughts about her. I never intended to get involved in her life, I never wanted it, there was something else that I wanted from her. I wanted to use her technique to get through Alpha Ethan, and fish out every secret, and things that I could use against him, but I couldn’t. Not when I found out the person I was looking for all this time was married to Ethan. I needed to use her skill to hack into the Pack system because I needed to take down the Pack, but she happened to be from the Pack and Ethan’s ex-wife. He hasn’t officially divorced her, and there was still something between them. The thought of it irked me. That’s why I had to delay asking her about what I needed her to work on. And I wanted to keep my secret away from her as well. I never knew why I asked about her wolf, I should have been quiet about it, I wasn’t supposed to be emotionally involved with her or anything. The moment I had spent with her in that office, staring at her brown eyes, as she talked to me about something important to her, I wasn’t someone she was supposed to trust with those secrets. But it was something more, I was starting to have second thoughts about her. I was seeing her differently, she was getting into my thoughts, her voice, her eyes, her face, everything started to distract me. I came late because I wanted her to wait, all to see Alphas swoop around her, I got heated up just seeing that, she smiled at them, not chasing them away, as if she liked the attention she was getting. They wanted her, I knew that. But, I didn’t want to see them with her, not them touching her. I couldn’t blame them, I was the one who picked the dress but the one who wore it, made it look so stunning, and quite outstanding, than every other lady here. It was a floor-length strapless gentrified gown in a rich, jewel-toned emerald green, with a fitted bodice with intricate beading and crystal embellishments, a flowing mermaid-style skirt with layers of tulle underneath, and a daring, thigh-high slit on one side revealing a glimpse of her perfectly toned leg. She added a subtle, sophisticated makeup look, everything made her stand out like the queen she was, even when we stepped in, everyone's eyes were on her. I think it was her first time being at the Gala, I had seen Ethan a few times at the Gala without this woman at his side, though he always comes with someone else. Now, I was doing something I never thought I would, I had taken time to choose the dress, because I wanted it to be very detailed. And she wore it elegantly. Her hand clutched against mine, I turned my gaze at the beautiful woman beside me, and wondered if I was making a mistake or something worse than that. “Alpha Stone and…?” “Raven Winters.” She answered with a smile. Muna was one of the Alpha I do relate with though not much, I won’t say we were close but we do exchange greetings and a few words to be considered close. “You are very beautiful, Ms Raven.” “This is Alpha Muna.” I introduced him to Raven. “You sure do have eyes for good things, Alpha Stone.” He said and tapped my shoulder. I stared at Raven to see if she was comfortable with it, but she didn’t seem to mind with that look on her face. “This is my business card.” He gave it to Raven, and I wondered for a minute what game he was trying to play, Raven took it from him. “I just remember you, you’re the tech director.” “Yes, I am.” “I would love to work with you.” He extended his hand to her, and I didn’t want her to take his hand, but I couldn’t stop her from doing that. I hated the feeling, that even when she was in my arms I still felt this way. She took her hand away from mine, and took his hand, smiling at him. I hated it when she smiled at them. I turned for a moment, my back against them. What was wrong with me? She was not with me to begin with, and the reason I asked to take her to the gala was to get her to work for me, but she was still with Ethan, and she has kids with him. I had to calm myself for a moment before I could face them again, I didn’t want to flare up in anger all because of the men around her, who just wanted to claim her and benefit from it. I guess I was part of those men too. “I can come to your office sometime, preferably we talk in person.” “I will be expecting you, Alpha Muna.” When I turned, she was still holding his hand, I stepped in between them, taking his hand off hers and linking them around my arms. “We should go take a seat.” I walked away from him, but his gaze didn’t leave even when we did. “You picked the right dress,” She said to me. “I know what fits you best,” I replied with a straight face, as if I hadn’t been stealing glances at her. “I wonder how you know that.” “I studied you.” I wished I had said that out loud but I didn’t. I kept it right in and didn’t say another word to her, kept leading her towards the front row where my seat was, and hers was probably close to mine. “Thank you.” She said politely when I adjusted her seat for her, and lifted her dress a bit, helping her to sit properly. She was the first. I have never done this for anyone. I never even had the chance to do it for my mate.
