It was about time I called the kids, but I decided against it, I never missed calling them every morning before they are taken to school, and before they sleep at night. But now, I don't feel the need to do it. I had stared blankly at my phone for over an hour, and wasn’t able to call them, so I dropped my phone and went to sleep. I woke up to a notification on my phone about the technology exhibition today. I have been missing my opportunity to go. When it came out two months ago, I was away serving Ethan’s sick father, but I was able to submit my design to the management. Ethan never allowed me to leave the house or work. I wrote a letter to the company after I found out the ticket to the exhibition had ended, and I desperately needed one, they refused to offer help and stated that there were no extra tickets left. Until I told them I was Raven Winters who they had been desperately looking for, the anonymous designer, and my work was part of the exhibition. I was free now, and I had the chance to go to the exhibition. The last time I bought a ticket to the exhibition I never went, this time, I didn’t want to miss it because I needed it. I stared at my phone, I had been given a ticket, and a special invitation. I almost let out a scream, I wasn’t expecting them to write back. It felt as if I had accomplished something because the exhibition was an annual event in the Pack. I had so much interest in Tech, I was secretly into it, During the six months I was away from the Pack, I had indulged and developed my program, and the secret director of a booming start-up. The exhibition was at 2pm and I needed to get ready, and it was around 7am. At the time I usually call all the kids, they would probably be eating breakfast now, and Ethan didn’t bother calling me, and when I spoke with my lawyer, he said he hasn’t signed the documents yet, and he never received the divorce papers. What was he waiting for? I didn’t call, I wasn’t going to reach out to him or the kids. I would have to sue him to take back my pack from him, and split them if he wasn’t willing to submit willingly to me. I was dressed for the exhibition in a black jumpsuit and sunglasses, I had gone over to the salon, straightened my curly hair, and now it fell over my shoulders. I was led into the building, and I was surprised to find my design in one of the hallways on the stairs. I let out a proud shy smile. There was a man before it, his eyes were keen at the design, I had seen him take pictures of it, I was distracted and missed a step, because I was staring at my work as well, his arms quickly gripped by back, and restrained me from falling. He steadied me back on my feet, and from his smell I knew he was different from a werewolf but he had the scent of an Alpha. His hand gently let go of my back, his forest green eyes gleamed with intensity, a high cheekbone and a strong jawline defined his chiseled features, accentuated by a sharp nose and firm red lips. A sprinkle of stubble added a hint of ruggedness to his otherwise polished demeanor, he was dressed in a tailored black suit which fitted him impeccably, showcasing broad shoulders and a powerful physique, I lowered my head in greetings, but instead of acknowledging my greetings, he ignored me, and turned the other way, facing the design again. Only if he knew I made that. “I’m Alpha Asher Stone. It's quite a pleasure to be invited to this honorable event.” The man appeared again at the podium giving a speech. I have heard the name before, Ethan had talked about how difficult it was for him to get to Asher, that he was a Lycan, and I was curious on who he was. His eyes found me in the crowd, I had taken off my sunglasses, and his green eyes stared into mine. I smiled and put my glasses back on. There was an evening dinner after the exhibition, and it was at that moment, Ethan came in shamelessly with Symphony, her hands over his arms. I never knew he came to every exhibition, the way he was welcomed, it seemed he had never missed any. He stood five feet away when he saw me, his eyes narrowed at me, I wasn’t in my bulging glasses or curly hair which he expected. My hair was straightened, and I was in a black heels and a fitted jumpsuit which had my curves right in position. His lips twitched. “Raven?” “And tonight…we are making an acknowledgement to Raven Winters, the director of the booming tech startup. We have one of her designs.” One of the managers of the event announced, and I stepped forward, flipped my hair, and made my way down to the podium. The moment I stood at the podium I found all eyes on me, some staring in disbelief, shocked, and amused. “One of our famous works was designed by her.” I took the microphone from her. “I’m Raven Winters…” “Is this the reason why you wanted a divorce?” Ethan cornered me right after I came down from the podium. His nose was flaring at me. “Have you forgotten that you cheated?” I asked, and he gripped my wrist forcefully. I yanked it from his hold. “I begged you to love me Ethan, but you didn’t, and it didn’t seem like the first time you came here with her, everyone here thought Symphony was your wife and not me! While you keep me locked down in the house, you go everywhere with her.” “You can’t divorce me, I will have you and I will have Symphony. I won’t sign those papers, and prepare to come back home, and we will pretend that none of this happened tonight.” “How stupid of you to think you can have us both.” I stood tall, glaring into his eyes. “You will meet me in court, Alpha Ethan.” I pushed off my path, and he came after me, while I tried to get away from him. Alpha Stone was in front of me, if I turned back, Ethan was behind, and the last thing I wanted was to get involved with him right now. He brought out his card from his pocket. “I wanted to send my Beta but I realized I should meet you in person.” He stretched out his card to me. “I’m Alpha Asher Stone.” His words were fluent, and his gaze didn’t stutter when he looked at me. “Raven Winters,” I replied. “I have been looking for you, Raven.” Ethan growled behind me. “That’s my wife, Asher.” “Ex.” I corrected him. “We are divorced.”
