I had called the maid in charge of the kids, and he told me they had gone to school, and last night when I had called them, there was no answer, she said they had slept on time, and the kids were fine. There was a post of the kids with Symphony, that they went for a picnic in the afternoon while I was at the exhibition. I wondered if they even cared that I hadn't been in the house for some days. “…thank goddess mommy didn’t call today.” I heard Tani’s voice in the background. “She’s boring.” Toni clicked his tongue. “With her everyday questions, I think she has gone back to the countryside with grandpa. I think she belongs there.” The maid hung up on the phone. I just heard their voices after she told me they had gone to school but they were home with her. I kept the phone at the bed, reminiscing when I first held them in my arms, I had been in the labour room the whole night, and they came out in the morning. I passed out the moment they came, lost a lot of blood, and everyone was in haste to save me. I thought I would get to live happily with my kids and Ethan’s love for me would bloom when he saw the kids and that we were now a family. I gave up everything, because I wanted Ethan’s love. My father, when he became sick, entrusted me to Ethan’s grandfather. Ethan lived with him, and both parents had died in an accident. I was the heir to my father’s pack, the night Ethan came home drunk and forcefully slept with me, and I had gotten pregnant. His grandfather had insisted we get married immediately. I agreed because I was already in love with him. I thought when we got married, he was going to love me, because we will be together but it was a silly fantasy, just something an ignorant girl will believe. “I’m the CEO of Glimestone, Kaid Vanguh. I have some business offers to you.” I stared at the mails a couple of times, after last night, I was sorted by different Alphas and Billionaires. Kaid Vanguh has a luxurious clubhouse downtown, a renowned billionaire, and he has invited me to meet him at the clubhouse. I wondered how they found out I was a top hacker. My mailbox was filled up with messages, and I wanted to go for the best. I placed a call through my lawyer, and he confirmed yet again, that the divorce papers hadn’t been signed or sent to him. There was another email from Kaid. “I’m quite eager to work with you, Raven. I have the best offers to give you if you agree to meet up with me tonight.” I had packed some of my things out of the house with Ethan, and I had them moved to my father’s house. I haven’t been there in ages since he passed. But, now, I have moved back in. While I fight back to take back my inheritance from Ethan. I ordered the house to be cleaned before I moved in, and had my things arranged back into my room. I didn’t plan to have it reconstructed, I want it to have the same memories I had with my father before I was handed over to Ethan’s grandfather. “…Ms. Raven. I suggest we give him some time.” My lawyer said on the phone. “When you got married to Alpha Ethan, he was given ownership of the Pack lands.” “My father handed it over because of joint benefits.” “I know, Ms. Raven, and it’s marital property which is subject to division.” “Then make it work,” “I will do my best. Ms. Raven.” I ended the call with the lawyer, because there was an incoming call from Ethan. I hesitated before taking the call, this was the first time he was calling me, he never called, I was the one who always did, and he never responded to my calls but replied to me through text which was always brief. “Where are you?” His voice blared on the phone. “They said you moved out of the hotel?” “You should come home now and stop this madness! Is my father aware of this attitude?” “Does he know what you’ve been doing?” “Why don’t you tell him?” “You should tell him how I caught you in bed with your lover, you should let him know that you brought her home, tell the kids that they should refer to her as their mommy, don’t forget to tell him all of that and lastly, that ever since we got married, you never remembered my birthdays, not even our anniversary, you didn’t know anything about me. So go ahead, and tell him all of that in detail.” “You’re being an embarrassment.” He spat out. “Exposing yourself at the exhibition, shows who you truly are.” “Go rattle with my lawyer,” I ended the call while he was speaking, and dumped it at the side of the bed. I swept my hair off my face and tried to calm down. Knowing Ethan’s grandfather wouldn't accept Symphony as Ethan’s wife, he would have told Ethan that she was unfit to be my replacement. I picked up my phone again and sent a reply to Kaid Vanguh. I stood before the mirror, knowing that it was time for a change, and I wouldn’t let Ethan treat me like trash anymore. I had to prepare for my meeting with Kaid Vanguh, while the card of Alpha Stone was on top of my drawer. He said he was going to reach out, and I didn’t want to be the first to do that. I had my hair straightened and then layered, then settled for a red dress with a slit. “I thought I won’t see you tonight.” Kaid Vanguh said with a dark smile. He wore a white sleeve and a silver watch, two buttons on his shirt were left undone. I could see a tattoo over his wrist, and there was one on his chest as well. I noticed that when he turned. He said he had been seated there for over an hour, and I was the first person who had ever made him wait. His eyes were dark brown, and his eyebrows were thick, thicker than most I have seen, on his fangs were golden teeth. “You were quite a hard catch.” He muttered and swigged his glass of tequila. “I wanted to know what your offer will be,” I replied. He glanced at me and smirked. “That’s if you can get the business done.” “If you think I won’t be able to do it, you won’t have reached out to me.” He took a shot of tequila while trying to hide his smile which I had seen already. “I wasn’t expecting you to be a woman.” “Are you disappointed?” “Impressed is the word.” I took the shot of tequila that was in front of me on the table, he watched me as I chugged it down my throat. It had a taste of vanilla, caramel and a hint of oak. “Is it good?” “I wanted something to your taste.” I wiped the corner of my lips with a finger and nodded at him. “I wasn’t expecting to see a beauty like you,” He was being flirtatious with his words, and I didn’t seem to mind that. Ethan never gave me a compliment, he never told me I looked pretty, he never bought me any dress or jewelry, though he gave me money once every three months. I used that to take care of his needs and that of the kids because I always put them first. He filled up my glass with a bottle of tequila. I didn’t want to take more because I was lightweight. I didn’t want to get drunk and make a mistake. I expected him to be strict with business, but he didn’t seem like that with me. “So I want to impress you, I hope I haven’t failed while doing that.” “Because you haven’t agreed to work with me yet.” A guard stepped forward and handed him a pad, and he placed it in front of me. He picked up his glass again, the music in the background was turned down, and we were in the upper room of the clubhouse. He leaned against his seat, his fingers rubbing the brim of the glass calculatively. “If you can get it down, I can give you anything you want.” “You can get my loyalty, trust, and everything you can think of.” He looked focused, his brows knotted together. “I, Kaid Vanguh can make it happen.” I tore my gaze away from him, and stared at the pad, and what he offered. He knew I was a hacker, and this was a job to hack into a website. “I will protect you and keep you safe, aside from the money, you should trust me.” I huffed. “You have no plan on killing me after I pull it off? He leaned over at the table, though we were seated beside each other. “When I saw you, I decided on something else.” I waited and watched the words fall out of his mouth. He took his gaze away from the glass, chuckled, turned, and stared at me. “Be my wife, Raven.”
