Surprise

Parting the curtains, rays of sunlight filled the room with it's warm presence. Emma took a deep breath before falling back on her bed. Just as she was about to dive back to quick sleep before beginning her activities of the day, her phone screen lit up with a notification sound.

She groaned in fraustration, rolling over to reach for her phone. She unlocked the phone to a text from Noah. ‘Got a surprise for u later. Wear something nice' she smiled as she read the text which ended with a heart emoji.

She dropped her phone, wondering what kind of surprise he had planned, all the while smiling. A knock Interrupted her daydreaming. She listened for it again to confirm she heard right and seconds later another loud wrap of knock landed on her door.

Emma struggled to her feet and then to the door. “Surprise!!" Both girls standing outside the door yelled out simultaneously as soon as Emma opened the door. “Oh my God! Chloe!!!" Emma called out excitedly on seeing her childhood friend.

Without hesitation, Chloe jumped into Emma's waiting arms. They held eachother tightly in a hug, laughing excitedly. “Me too" Karen added, joining in the hug.

Unlike Emma and Karen who stood at 5"4, Chloe was a brunette who stood at 5"7. She had the same brown eyes as Karen. Haven went to middle school and high school together, the girls were inseparable until they each had to leave for different college schools. And now that they were reunited, no one was more excited than Emma, who had missed the company of her closest friends.

“When did you get back?" Emma asked when they finally broke the hug.

“Last night" Chloe replied

“Yeah I was surprised when she called me that she was in town and we should surprise you at home" Karen added

“Well I am surprised for sure. I'm so glad we are back together. How have you been?"

“Good...but not as good as you I heard. Karen gave me the highlight on our way here. Now I want the full details. I need to be in the loop" Chloe urged, dragging Emma by her arm to bed. “Tell me everything"

Liam pushed the door to the study open to the view of the Alpha standing, facing the family photo. “You called for me father" He annouced, shutting the door behind him. The Alpha gestured for him to come over to where he was.

Wondering what this little meeting could be regarding, Liam's mind worked every possible reason without coming to any concrete one. He approached the Alpha and stood beside him, and joined in staring at the painting too.

Alpha Wolverson handed one of the glasses of whiskey he was holding to Liam. A gesture which surprised Liam even more. He accepted the drink, took a sip and resumed staring at the photo. With how scarce his picture was around the house, he was surprised he made the one he was staring at.

“You're done with school now. You're no longer a kid or a teenager anymore. You're an adult. So what are your plans now?" The Alpha started

Caught by surprise, Liam quickly took another sip from his whiskey. “Plans?" He asked

“Yeah. You're a man now, a man needs to have plans. What plans do you have for your future?"

“Well...well I haven't really thought about that. I just wanted to come for a while, get my head straight, calm down a little and then start making plans" Liam explained

“A man needs a plan for every step of his life. I wanted to know what you have planned, so that I can know what you'll be doing when you leave this house"

“What's the rush? I just got back" He stated with furrowed brows

“Yeah well you're not staying" The Alpha blurted out bluntly

“What?" Liam confused by his statement, dropped his glass on the table.

“I said you need to leave and soon"

“You're kicking me out?? Because I don't have a plan?" He questioned with anger brewing inside of him. “I don't see Noah delivering his plans and I don't see you kicking him out too" He protested

“Noah has had his life planned out since his birth. He's to be Alpha after me and he needs to be here to learn everything he needs to know to rule. It's different with you. You're not a wolf" Alpha Wolverson countered

“Oh I see" He bobbed his head with anger

“You think I hate you and I'm being hard on you but..."

“But you're not exactly handing out roses to me like you do my brother" Liam cut him off and stormed out of the room. Alpha Wolverson dropped his glass, sat down and heaved a deep sigh, running his hands through his hair.

“You look stunning" Noah complimented, admiring the white flowery dress Emma wore as she walked past him into the restaurant.

“Thank you" She flashed him a smile. She looked around the restaurant and realized it's empty. “No one's here" She pointed out, a bit confused by the sight. The restaurant was one of the fanciest they had in the town and it made no sense that it was empty.

“Yeah it is" Noah approached her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist and planting a kiss on her cheek. “I rented the place for the night. So it's just the two of us here for the night" he whispered in her ear.

Her eyes widened and she turned to face him. “Why? That must have been expensive"

“Yeah it was expensive but it's nothing when it's for you. You're gonna be my Luna soon. You deserve the best"

“Awwwn. Thanks. This is really nice" She smiled warmly at him.

Noah led them to their seats and soon, the waiter came up to them, handing them the menus. “Have anything delicious in mind?" Noah asked with a smile, staring at her from across the table and amazed by her beauty.

“I think I'll have the chicken parmesan" she replied, handing the menu back to the waiter

“Make that for two and add some champagne. Thanks" He added.

The doorbell rang just above the door with the door being pushed open. The sound and the distinct smell of someone who wasn't a wolf walking into the bar, drew the attention of everyone present in the bar.

The room was clouded with smoke and filled with the smell of alcohol. Liam scanned the room and then proceeded toward the counter, ignoring the intent stares of everyone. “Vodka please" he ordered, sitting by the counter.

“Here you go" She poured him a shot of vodka, giving him a subtle long stare.

“Are you checking me out?" Liam asked, catching on.

“You're...."

“Human yeah....I'm not a wolf like these gentlemen in the bar"

“Are you sure you wanna be here? These men don't take kindly to humans coming into the bar. It doesn't usually end well" She warned

Liam scoffed softly “You're clearly new to town" He downed his shot of vodka. “I'm the Alpha's son...so I'm basically untouchable" He explained “Except by the Alpha" he whispered to himself.

“Oh" She said

“Yeah...yeah the Alpha has a human son....keep the drinks coming" He urged “What's your name though? I'm Liam"

“I'm Daisy"

“Well nice to meet you Daisy" He smiled, downing his second shot.

“Likewise Liam" She flashed him a flirtatious smile before walking away.

“This is good" Noah spoke with a mouthful of chicken parmesan.

“I know right" Emma replied. “The chefs here are really good. This taste better than the other ones I've had" She added.

“Maybe we'll make here our favorite restaurant"

“I like the sound of that" Emma laughed

They fell into silence for a few minutes. Just focusing on the food and drinks in front of them. Noah kept on digging his way through his food whilst occasionally stealing glances at the girl he is in love with. He couldn't still phantom that she was his.

Emma caught him staring and couldn't help but blush. “What?" She asked feeling a bit embarrassed.

“You look so beautiful"

“Oh my God" she muttered

“It's full moon tomorrow. Are you ready?" He questioned, drinking from his champagne.

“I'm so ready. It's been a while since I let my wolf run free. Had no chance back in college. I've missed the thrill and freedom that comes with running free in the woods under the full moon" She stated excitedly

“Well I'm glad you're excited. I'm excited to experience that with you too"

“So am I" she blushed and then looked away. “Thank you for this tonight. I really love it"

“Anything for you" Noah smiled, grabbing her hands on the table and stroking it gently with his thumbs.

“You've probably had enough to drink for tonight. Maybe you should call it a night" Daisy advised, coming out of the counter.

“Yeah you're probably right" Liam rubbed his eyes and then stood. He was feeling a bit tipsy but nothing new to him. He put on his jacket and dropped some cash on the counter.

“Let me escort you to your car" She offered and before he could object, she was already on her way.

Liam shrugged and began following her. “Goodnight fellas. Stay safe" He called out to the wolves in the bar before exiting.

“Thanks" He said to her on arriving at his car. He got in, uttered a sigh and sank back on his seat. “f**k" he cursed, shutting his eyes.

“You okay?" Daisy asked

“Yeah I'm good"

“It's full moon tomorrow night. Maybe you should just stay inside"

“I've seen a lot of full moons. Tomorrow isn't any different" He inserted his key and turned on the ignition “Thanks though. I guess I'll be seeing you around" He concluded and reversed, driving off into the streets.

Driving down the highway, Liam began recovering from the drinks he had. Upon coming back in full contact with reality, he began replaying the conversation he had with the Alpha over and over again in his head. “Are you kidding me?" He scoffed, thinking about how ridiculous the conversation was.

Turning on the music on the car stereo, he immediately felt a sharp pain in his head, followed by a blurry vision which came too swiftly. “Ahhh!!" He yelled, holding his head as the intensity of the migraine increased.

Realizing he was no longer holding the steering wheel and his car was now swerving on the highway, he quickly turned off the ignition and put his foot on the brakes and before he could apply pressure to it, he blacked out and dropped on the steering. The car began to slow down. His weight turned the steering wheel and the car went off the road into the woods.
