Chapter 4: Forced To Dance

"Dan, where are you going? The celebration is not over. Come back and taste your cake and feed some to your mate," Alpha Michael insisted, not caring if Dan was angry or not.

"Dad..." Dan hissed. He didn't want to stand next to Nelly.

"And I insist," Alpha Michael said, as he looked so unfazed.

Dan gulped hard, looked back at the stage, and forced his feet to move. He went back, picked a small cut of the huge white cake, and ate it.

Customarily, Dan had to feed Nelly since she was his mate. His hand moved stiffly as he picked up a piece of cake to feed Nelly.

Nelly's chubby cheeks flushed. She had not expected that public show of love.

"Go on, Nelly. Do not be shy. Dan is your mate now. So you both have to learn to eat together and do things together. After that, you will both dance and give us a show before the celebration comes to an end," Alpha Michael insisted, getting amused by the turn of events.

He knew that Dan did not like Nelly, but he did not care about what his son liked or not. As long as Nelly was the moon goddess's choice for a mate for Dan, she was okay in his eyes, and he believed that he could put her through a weight loss program, as it was not like she was sick or crippled. She was still okay and only flawed.

"Dad, must I do this? Do you derive joy in my unhappiness?" Dan said angrily. He wanted to leave the banquet hall, which was a very large hall that was used for most royal celebrations in the palace.

Alpha Michael scoffed and said, "Go on and feed your mate. You do not want to provoke me into changing my mind and handing everything over to Remy."

Dan scowled and glared at his father. He looked at Nelly's face, who was acting shy before him.

Nelly opened her pink mouth. Surprising Dan, she had a nice set of white teeth. She scented so nice, and Dan shook his head, trying to ward off any form of admiration for Nelly.

To him, chubby women were ugly, and he could not imagine himself becoming mated for a lifetime to one.

Nelly opened her mouth shyly, and Dan fed her the cake. She ate it slowly and blushed, while Alpha Michael was the first to clap for them.

"Very lovely. Now you both should dance for us. Music, please," Alpha Michael said, and the love song erupted in the banquet hall, while Dan scowled. His father was pushing him to his wit's end.

Dan did not want to touch Nelly, but at the same time, he knew that he could not afford to provoke his father. His father was still the Alpha King, and until Dan became the next Alpha King, he could challenge his father's authority.

Dan firmly held Nelly's hand, and she cried at the force with which he grasped her closely.

Nelly knew how to dance, as she was a loner. So she danced in her room at her own free time.

Her father frowned, while her stepmother angrily left the hall to find her daughter, as she could not stand there and watch Nelly steal everything away from Elena.

"That bïtch. I am going to make her regret the day that she was born," Stella Robinson growled and left the hall to find her daughter.

Many didn't hear her, as everyone's eyes were fixed on the stage, admiring Nelly and Dan, who were forced to dance together by Alpha Michael.

Wendy and Fred glanced at the stage and left too, to search for their sister, Elena. They were Nelly's half-siblings. While Wendy was 15 years old, Fred was a 13-year-old boy, so he left to find his sister too. But Mr. Simon remained in the hall, to know what would happen next to Nelly and if she was going back home with them.

The music continued playing as Dan forced himself to dance with Nelly. He held her waist, his hand holding her firmly as he danced with her.

Dan wanted to disappear from the hall, but he couldn't do it. He knew that Elena was hurting because of him, but he had to secure the Alpha Kingship first.

What surprised Dan was that Nelly could dance, even as he tried to dance faster with her and humiliate her. She was quick to catch up with his steps, her hands holding his, but he was becoming more and more uncomfortable as his wolf surged to the surface to mark her and have a taste of her blood.

Finally, the music stopped playing, and Dan let go of Nelly. She lost her balance as she hadn't expected him to let go of her quickly. She fell off the ground, and he did not bother to pick her up or look back at her.

Dan angrily left the hall, and his father did not bother to call him back or to reprimand him.

Conrad quickly came forward and helped Nelly to stand back on her feet. As he offered her his hand to hold, she blushed in embarrassment.

"Thank you, everyone, for coming to Alpha Dan's 24th birthday. As Alpha Michael said, the royal wedding is coming up this Saturday, so you all are openly invited as well. Thank you. You can present your gifts and also receive your thanks for coming gift as well, before you all leave."

Conrad wrapped up his speech on stage, while the servants shared the cake with the guests, and they received the gifts on Dan's behalf.
