Chapter 31

Jia Xia

My father has been acting weird the past couple of days.

After I returned home from the hospital he was always busy meeting people and he never once invited myself or my mother along.

We were busy having our afternoon tea when my father arrived.

He was with Mr Xiao whom I had met at Farnace logistics.

Behind he came his sone Xiao Fang Lei.

My father introduced us once again and we all went to the living room where my mother was serving tea.

"Jai Xia... I don't think you know Fang Lei, but he and his family are good people and her only recently returned from America. His father owns not only a few small logistics companies in Shanghai but also a major one in America."

Okay...

"The reason I invited them over today is to discuss something important with you..."

I was wondering if it had anything to do with the meeting we had last week.

"I want you to consider getting married to Fang Lei..."

"What?... Are you serious...?"

Everyone looks surprised.

But Fang Lei was smiling.

What, he thinks this is funny?

"And what are you smiling about?... You know I have two kids right...?"

He looked at me a smile still playing on his lips.

"Im well aware of your situation miss Ying, and I hope you can at least listen to the rest of the preposal before acting in such an interesting manner..."

This man was really something, maybe he was even more delusional than my father.

"Jia Xia, its because of the boys I think you should consider this marriage, Fang Lei wanted to marry you the same year as Xavier but because of my stupid belief in friendship I declined his preposal and gave you to Xavier... I still regret..."

I couldn't believe this.

Because he wanted me years ago and my father still feels responsible for what happened, he is actually trying to get me married.

" Father, before you continue... If I may... You have nothing to be regretful for, I made the final decision to marry Xavier and have his children, and it was me how left and filled for a divorce, so if you are asking for my opinion than I am gladly rejection this marriage... "

Fang Lei looked surprised.

" Tell me you aren't serious...?"

Came my father's reply.

I looked at him and bowed my head.

" Father, forgive my ignorance but yes... I am very serious... "

Fang Lei got up and walked out with out saying a word.

My father looked at me and apologized to mr Xiao.

They shook hands and than he also left.

My father came back and sat me down.

"Jia Xia... Please think this through... I dont know how much longer we can hide the truth from Xavier or his father, Fang Lei isn't a bad person, I checked his life from the moment he asked for your hand and till now everything he has done was nothing but good... He is willing to accept you and the boys, just give him a chance... At least get to know him better before you reject him... Please... "

He got up and walked away.

I knew my family had been spreading rumors that the father of the twins was an influential man from an influential family and it was done to help me keep them safe, but I never thought my father would actually want me to marry this so called father of my children.

I walked out into the garden and watched the boys play.

They were my everything.

What should I do...

I was in my own mind when my phone rang.

Unknown caller.

I was a bit hesitant but than answered.

"Hello..."

"I hooe we can meet in private this evening... I think we should talk about what happened earlier..."

Its was non other than Fang Lei

How did he have my number.

"Mr Xiao ... I have already told you what I think and.."

"Please Jia Xia, just meet me okay..."

He was speaking so informal, different from earlier.

I took a deep breath.

"Okay.. But I won't change my mind, just so you know..."

I disconnected the call.

This isn't what I was expecting.

Why is he so persistent.

Later around 6 I told my mother I am meeting a friend and than asked her to mind the boys.

She didn't asked and agreed.

I drove to a local coffee shop that Fang Lei sent me the location off.

I parked my car and than got of and entered the coffee shop.

Fang lei was waiting for me.

He was really very attractive.

Just like the first day I saw him he had this aurora radiating from him.

All the women in the coffee shop were looking and whispering.

Like I was sure he could easily have any if not all of them at his beck and call.

He saw me and waved me over.

The woman suddenly all looked at me and i could see their disappointment.

Like honestly.

I walked over and sat down.

"Two coffee's and a slice of lemon merang cake please.."

Fang lei told the waitress.

He already knew my favorite cake.

"Sorry i don't know if you still like that cake.."

Well well...

"I do, but how.."

Fang lei smiled.

"I have known you far longer that you know me..."

What does he mean.

"I am not sure we ever met before..."

Again he smiled.

"I guess I can understand that, after all I wasn't really a Catcher back in high school.."

What...

He saw my surprise and confusion.

"I was a senior in the same school as you... and well Ha-bin was so close to you back then, I was one of many boys who had a crush on you but like I said.. Ha-bin.. Well lets just say he made sure no one had a chance..."

I searched my mind.

Xiao Fang Lei....

I can't remember him at all.

He was right about Ha-bin, but thats because I myself only had eyes for Ha - bin...

" Okay... Im flattered but actually I think it's me who didn't give anyone els a chance... Ha-bin was my crush back then... So..."

He laughed.

"ah yes that makes more sense now, I remember you would follow him around like a lost puppy..."

It was embarrassing but true.

I aslo started laughing.

"Yeah, i did..."

We started talking about what he did and why he left.

Surprising he was actually a nerd back in high school.

He told me after my family rejected his marriage preposal he decided to leave for America where he finally graduated from high school and university and took over his father's company.

"I heard about everything Xavier put you through and I was so angry I didn't fight harder back than, but you have to believe me... I never once stopped thinking about you... And I really hope you can just give me a chance... We can date first , but if you feel like it isn't working I will forget everything and move on.. Please... "

I felt this uneasiness in my heart.

Maybe it's time I move on.

I mean Xavier is married to Bella, they are a family and even though the twins was his I couldn't take a chance of him rejecting them for Bella and her daughter just like he rejected me.

"I can try but I can't promise anything... Maybe we work and maybe we don't... So I..."

He was so excited.

He got up and literally hugged me.

I couldn't believe this was the same man I saw last week.

He must have a deeper side as well.

"Sorry.. I.. Um.. Sorry.."

He went to sit back down.

We suddenly spoke like old friends.

I was feeling quite comfortable with him and that to me was strange because I mostly only felt this way around Ha-bin and well... Xavier...

Suddenly I heard my name.

His voice wasn't any different from what I remember.

"Jia Xia "

Xavier suddenly appeared in front of us.

I looked up at him.

He was wearing a black suit with a white shirt.

His hair the same as when we first met.

His eyes was different though.

I looked away.

Fang Lei got up.

"Mr Lee... Please know your manners, dont address my fiance so casually... Please.."

He said looking right into Xavier's eyes.

I was shocked.

Xavier was about to say something but Fang Lei walked to my side and took my hand.

"My love, the boys are waiting for us... Lets go.."

I got up and followed him.

As we walked out I looked back.

Xavier was watching us as we walked away.

He wasn't angry but he looked upset or sad, if I can put it that way.

We reached my car.

Fang Lei looked at me and than our hands.

He slowly let go.

"Sorry... I..."

I was really happy he was there, i wasn't ready to speak to Xavier...

"Thank you..."

I reached in and put my arms around his waist.

I just needed a hug.

He wrapped his arm around my shoulders.

"I will protect you and your boys at all cost.. I promise..."

My heart was racing in my mind was crowded.

Maybe this is a good idea.

Maybe he can take over the part of me than still loved Xavier.

We stood like that for a while than we got into our cars and said our goodbyes and drove our separate ways.

On the way home I couldn't help but wonder why Xavier seemed sad.

Was it just my imagination or was there some deeper meaning behind his look.

I reached home to find my kids asleep and my both parents still sitting in the living room.

I walked in and sat with them.

"So... Were have you been, it almost 10 pm.."

My father asked.

"I met with Fang lei..."

He smiled.

"And... Are you..."

I sigh than smiled

"No... But I will give him a chance, but father please let me make the final decision... I don't know what's in my future but zain and hayaan is the only thing I can truly live for and this is for me and them because if I am not happy they womt be either... "

My father understood.

He was just happy I was willing to move forward.

We spoke for a while than I turned in.

My mimd however was still stuck at Xavier.

Something wasn't right.

I just knew it deep down.

He wasn't happy.
