Chapter 27
Lara Stella and Graeme made it down several flights of stairs and crossed through another chemical supply room. This one was protected by two thick silver doors with yellow and black stripes across them and a sign that read NUTRIZEEN SUPPLY AREA: AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY.
“Uncle Choco said to go through here,” Graeme said.
Lara Stella looked through the window cautiously. The room was large, and she couldn’t see every area. It opened into another, even bigger room lost in the shadows.
“I don’t know,” she said. She cradled Mint in her arms and looked down the hallway. The lights flickered, and she smelled gas. They had tried all of the doors, and they either led to nowhere or were sealed by rubble. This was their last chance.
