Jealousy

Lilith's POV Vlad and Lilith walked back to the castle in silence. It wasn’t an uncomfortable silence, it felt right to just walk together taking in their surroundings. Glancing up at Vlad Lilith couldn’t help but notice changes in his appearance. His hair was darker and seemed to be longer. She wasn’t sure if she was imagining it, but he also looked bigger. She had never noticed before just how attractive Vlad was, the last time she had spoken with him she was preoccupied with planning out an attack. Stop it! He isn’t our mate, Alex is dead. Lilith internally scolded herself for admiring the mountain of a man. Stepping into the castle Lilith looked up at Vlad their eyes meeting briefly before she looked away heat rising in her cheeks. “Vlad?” Lucien said standing on the staircase a book in his hand. “Lucien.” Vlad beamed. “It’s so good to see you, my son.” “Son?” Lilith choked looking from Lucien to Vlad. “Not in a biological way. I turned Lucien.” Vlad explained a big grin on his face. “I thought you died?” “I did, but Lilith saved me.” Vlad looked down at Lilith smiling. “How?” Lucien asked looking from Vlad to Lilith. “I turned him.” Lilith said a stern look on her face. “He’s like me now.” Lilith added looking away from Lucien. She understood his curiosity but talking about turning other into what she was made her uncomfortable. In the last six months she had sat on the throne she had constant requests from werewolves and vampires wanting her to turn them. “Oh.” Lucien looked away from Lilith he could see her discomfort in the subject. “I am glad you are alive. What brings you here?” “I am here for Lilith.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” Mic growled walking out of the living area toward them an annoyed look on his face. “Exactly what it means.” Vlad looked over at Mic. “I am here to make sure she is safe and unharmed. To thank her for saving me, and to get to know her. We never really got to know each other before my untimely death, and I would love if we could spend some time together.” Vlad turned his head looking at Lilith again. “She doesn’t need your protection she has me.” Mic spat his eyes glowing a dark crimson. “Don’t you think that is her choice? And if I recall you weren’t much help in saving her mate.” Lucien scoffed glaring at Mic. “Shut up Lucy no one cares what you think go be a good errand boy for your master.” All three men began bickering completely forgetting about Lilith. Each of them trying to push their opinion on what was good for her. No one even thinking to ask what she thought or even what she would want. Lilith could feel her patience dwindling and anger beginning rise. How could the three of them stand their bickering about what was best for her? She decided what was best for her not them. She isn’t some child unable to care for itself she is a powerful hybrid. “ENOUGH!” Lilith roared. “The only one decided what is best for me is ME!” Lilith growled glaring at each of them her eyes glowing magenta and yellow. “Lil.” “NO! You do not get to decide things for me I am not a child.” Lilith stormed over to Mic poking her finger in his chest. “None of you do.” She added glaring at Lucien then Vlad. Turning on her heels she stormed out of the room leaving the three men to star after her surprised and unsure of what to do. “Men.” Lilith growled to herself storming into her suite and over to her living room dropping down into a chair with a huff. Mic's POV “Look what you did.” Lucien exclaimed shooting his hands up in frustration. “What I did?” Mic scoffed. Why did Lucien have to come here? He was like a thorn in Mic's back. He served no purpose other then to be the Bain of Mic's existence. “We all did it.” Vlad shook his head a frown on his face. “We let our need to win consume us forgetting that Lilith is Queen and is more than capable of making her own choices.” “You don’t know her. She needs my help.” Mic growled defiantly. Vlad didn't know their history. He didn't know Lilith like Vlad did. How could he judge him when he knew nothing of their relationship? “She needs your comfort and support not for you to baby her.” Vlad said looking at Mic. “Maybe your right.” Mic said looking down at his feet. He had acted like a testosterone charged bull trying to claim her as his own out of his own insecurity and jealousy. He wanted her to choose him, for them to be together, but he knew that he could not make that choice for her. He needed to step back and give her the space she needed to figure out what she wanted and to heal. “Are you staying long?” Lucien asked. “I haven’t planned anything out, but I would like to stay for a while.” Vlad said looking at Lucien a small smile on his face. “Let me show you to a room then.” Mic waved his hand for Vlad to follow him. Turning he quickly closed the space between him and the staircase. They walked up to the second floor and down two different hallways before Mic came to a stop. “Here we are.” Mic said pushing the door open to reveal a spacious suite. Like Lucien’s walking into the suite was the main living area a couch and two chairs faced a fireplace with a bookcase on either side of it filled with books. The bedroom was a little bigger with a king-sized bed, a little sitting area in the one corner with another bookcase, a spacious walk-in closet, and a bathroom. “Well, I’ll leave you to get settled.” Mic turned to exit the room when Vlad grabbed his shoulder. “Mic.” Vlad said watching Mic glance back at him. “Thank you.” Vlad's POV Mic nodded at Vlad before exiting out of the room leaving Vlad to settle in his new room. He had hoped to be placed close to Lilith, but he understood Mic was just being protective. He could see the love Mic had for her, and how close they were. Vlad would be lying if he said he wasn’t jealous to see the connection Mic and Lilith clearly have. He knew though that Lilith was now bound to him through blood. The more he spent with her the more she would feel the bond growing, and over time she just might feel love for him. They had eternity; he was in no rush. He would let her grieve the loss of her mate. He would prove to her that he was the best choice for her. He could make her happy and safe. Mic's POV “Looks like Vlad has eyes for Lilith.” Lucien taunted Mic a devilish grin on his face. “You are like a cockroach you just keep coming back.” Mic glared at him. “Green is not your colour my friend.” “I am not your friend errand boy.” “No, you’re just someone in my way.” Lucien smiled widely. “Stay away from Lilith.” Mic growled shoving Lucien back. “You aren’t her father or her boyfriend. You have no say in what or who she does.” Lucien said before disappearing out of the room in a blur. “Prick.” Mic muttered to himself his eyes glowing crimson. There was no way he was going to let Lucien try to weasel his way into Lilith’s pants. She was out of his league. Lucien wasn’t good enough for her, he was just some playboy trying to make her another notch on his bed post. Then there was Vlad. Mic had known Vlad back in the day when he was close with Leonidas. He was as brutal and merciless as the stories had depicted him. Yet he had sided with Lilith and died because of it. Though death had clearly not stuck, it was clear to Mic that Lilith had something to do with that. Why she would gift Vlad with her blood and being turned into a hybrid he could not understand. Though he doubted she knew the real Vlad, she had only seen the side Vlad had portrayed. Mic wasn’t convinced by his acting; he knew the real Vlad. He was just like Leonidas; the only real difference was that Vlad was skilled at hiding his murderous side whereas Leonidas didn’t hide it. Leonidas didn’t hide himself he showed everyone who he really was. Well for the most part, the women he had mated with didn’t get to meet the real him until it was too late. The thought of Vlad and Lilith together boiled Mic’s blood. He just wanted her to be happy but allowing her to be with Vlad was unthinkable. He couldn’t allow that to happen, Vlad would destroy her. She was the only pure thing in Mic’s life, and he wasn’t going to let Vlad destroy that. He knew that she wasn’t the same woman he had met when he was chasing her through the forest to bring her back to Leonidas. She had changed so much since then. Everything that has happened to her has made her hard on the outside to those around her. He was one of only a few she let her guard down with. Mic didn’t think she would ever let her guard down with him after what happened to Alexander. Yes, somehow, he in the past six months she found a way to let him back in. He knew that she hadn’t completely forgiven him, and he knew that she may never fully forgive him, but he had at least gotten this amount back. “Mic?” Lilith’s voice rang in his ears breaking him from his thoughts and back to the present. Looking up he realized he was now standing outside her room. Had he knocked on her door? When did he head to her room? “Mic, are you okay?” Lilith said reaching out at him a look of concern on her face. “Y-yes. I am sorry I didn’t mean to bother you.” Mic dropped his head running his fingers through his hair. Mic these last six months had given up shaving his head allowing his hair on his head to grow. He now had a mess of black hair on the top of his head. It had been a century since his hair was long, he had begun shaving his head giving himself a more menacing look with his orange eyes. He always thought that growing his hair would make him look less menacing and more approachable. He couldn’t afford to appear that way when he was Leonidas’s muscle. He needed to strike fear into Leonidas’s enemies with just his appearance. “You’re not bothering me.” Lilith said. “Come in.” Stepping back, she held the door open allowing him to enter her room. Walking into the room Mic headed straight into the living room. Lilith's POV Lilith closed the door following silently behind Mic. She was in her living room laying on the floor by the fireplace reading. She had always loved laying on her belly on the ground with a good book cracked open just ahead of her. After the testosterone trio bickering over what was best for her, she had stormed off deciding to go hunting to let out the frustration. After tracking and killing a bear she made her ways back to her room to clean up. It didn’t take her long stalking the bear before she lunged at it ripping her fangs through its neck draining it of it blood and life. Animal’s blood wasn’t the most ideal thing for her, but she couldn’t risk hurting a human. She had control over her hunger but lately a darkness seemed to loom over her. She could feel the darkness hiding within her waiting to be freed. Since killing and drinking her father dry, she had felt something stirring within her. It was as if his blood had awoken a monster within her. She had always battled a darkness within her, but this seemed stronger and more dangerous. No one knew of this internal battle she was fighting. Lilith knew that they already walked on eggshells around her worried she may lose it at any moment. What would they think if they knew just how close she was to losing it, and that it could cost them their lives if she did? After her hunt she snuck back into the castle and up to her room showering off the blood of her kill and dressing in a black silk night down. Turning her fireplace on she found a good book and retired on the floor. “Why are you here Mic?” Lilith kept her back to him standing in front of the fireplace. “I’m sorry.” Mic began. “I was acting like a child down there, and none of us have a right to try to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do.” “Thank you.” Lilith turned to see Mic slumped over on the couch a look of defeat written all over his face. Lilith had tried to keep Mic at a distance since the death of Alexander. She still hadn’t forgiven him for everything, but she could see he was trying. Stepping towards him she moved in a flash appearing in front of Mic. Kneeling in front of him her fingers went under his chin gently moving his head up so their eyes could meet. “It’s okay.” “No, it’s not. You are amazing and more then capable of making your own decisions. I just. I...” “I know.” Lilith said her hand pressed to his mouth stopping him from talking. “I know Mic.” Dropping her hand from his mouth she could see the confusion in his eyes. He had no clue that she knew of his feelings. She could see the way he looked at her. He was always by her side ready to help her with anything and everything. Tristan had told him multiple times to back off and let him do his job, and yet Mic continued to shadow her. Lilith couldn’t come right out and say it, but she knew he liked her. Part of her like him too, but she could never pursue it. How could she move on? She had lost the love of her life, her destined mate. How do you move on from that? “It’s okay. Water under the bridge, I know you were just trying to protect me, but Vlad would never harm me.” “You don’t know him Lilith not really.” “I know enough to know that he means me no harm.” “But.” “No more Mic. I understand you just want to protect me, but I am done discussing this. Vlad is welcome here, and so is Lucien. We cannot do things like Leonidas did, I want this place to be open to all.” “Fine.” Mice sighed in defeat he knew there was no way he was going to win this one. She had made up her mind and when she made up her mind there was no way to change it.
