A Walk in The Garden

2011 Words
Odessa's POV Odessa stepped into the mirror and within minutes she was stepping out of a mirror into Vlad’s former mansion and now the headquarters of the Blue Moon Pack. “DANTE!” Odessa shouted storming through the mansion determined to find her twin and make sure he was alright. “Excuse me you just can’t barge in here.” A slender dark-haired woman stepped in Odessa’s way her arms stretched out to try to stop her from moving forward. “Get out of my way.” Odessa growled. “DANTE!” She shouted looking over the woman’s shoulder. “You can’t just demand an audience with the alpha. Who do you think you are?” “I am his twin sister and if you don’t take me to my brother right now, I’ll be the last person you see.” Odessa growled her eyes no longer their normal colour but now completely black. “Oh, I am so sorry you must be Odessa please forgive me I didn’t know.” The woman bowed her head in submission. “Come with me he is right this way.” Turning on her heels the woman scurried down the hall. Following along Odessa took in a deep breath pushing her wolf back down regaining full control of herself. Within minutes they were standing outside two big double doors. “Alpha. Odessa is here.” The woman called before opening the doors to allow Odessa entrance to the room. Storming in Odessa stopped in her tracks seeing her brother laying bandaged in bed. Rushing to his side she collapsed onto her knees her hands frantically moving over him inspecting his wounds. “Dante what happened to you?” “I am fine Dess.” Dante grunted slowly lifting himself into a sitting position. “Dante what happened. Who did this to you?” “I was attacked, but it was by accident and as I said I am fine.” Dante reached out grasping her hand squeezing lightly to try to reassure her. “Who attacked you I’ll rip their head off?” Odessa said rising to her feet. “No!” Dante pulled her back down forcing her to stay beside his bed and him. “It wasn’t his fault, and he did try to heal me, but I refused.” “Who did it Dante?” “Vlad.” “Vlad? He is dead Dante.” Odessa scoffed reaching up to press the back of her free hand on his forehead. “He is back Dess, and he is like Lilith. He didn’t mean to hurt me he had just woken from being dead. He begged me to let him heal me, but I didn’t want to risk accidently being turned.” “Does Lilith know he is back?” “No, but I think he is headed her way.” “This is bad.” Odessa stood up. “I need to warn Lilith.” “WAIT!” Dante shouted his grip on her hand tightening as he tried pulling her back over. “I don’t think he wants to hurt her. I think he wants to thank her for saving him. He seemed very grateful.” Odessa looked down at her brother and could see that he truly believed that Vlad was not going to harm Lilith, but could she take that risk? “Dante.” Turning to look her brother in the eyes she knelt beside him. “I still have to warn her just in case. I love you and you better rest till you are fully healed. I had hoped to stay for a longer trip, but I must get back to tell Lilith.” Dante frowned nodding in agreement with Odessa. He knew she was right even though he also knew that Vlad would never hurt Lilith. Odessa had a duty to their Queen to notify her of a possible threat. “Fine go, but you better come back soon for a proper visit.” “Love you bro.” Odessa leaned forward giving him a quick peck on his forehead. “Love you too sis.” Dante pulled her hand to him pecking her knuckles. “Safe trip.” “Always.” Standing up she gave him a big goofy grin before turning on her heels heading quickly toward the double doors. “Oh, and Dess.” Dante called after his sister. “Yeah.” Odessa stopped at the doors glancing back at him. “Bring that boyfriend of yours next time.” “Of course.” Odessa nodded a big grin on her face. Turning back around she quickly exiting out of the bedroom rushing through the mansion back to the big mirror she had stepped through when she had first arrived. Standing in front of the mirror she clasped her moon pendant closing her eyes. “Tristan.” She whispered to herself. “I’m here.” Tristan’s voice echoed in her head. “I need to come back now.” “What’s wrong?” “I’ll explain once I am back. Bring me back now please I need to talk to Lilith right away.” Odessa said with more force than she had meant to. Sparks flicked around the mirror reaching out at her. “Step through my love.” Tristan’s voice echoed in her head again. Opening her eyes, she watched as the mirror shifted from solid back to liquid rippling around. Taking a deep breath, she slowly exhaled dropping her shoulder before she took a few steps toward the mirror. Stepping into the mirror she felt a chill consume her and just like that she was stepping back out of the mirror in Tristan and her bedroom. “Where is she?” Odessa rushed to Tristan’s side. “The garden. What is going on?” “Vlad is back.” Odessa said rushing around Tristan and out of the bedroom. Rushing through the castle Odessa felt adrenaline coursing through her making her heart thump loudly in her ears. Impatient she broke out into a sprint running right out of the castle and toward the garden. Skidding to a stop at the garden she looked out to find Lilith sitting on the bench in the middle of the garden humming to herself as she reached down brushing a rose peddle. “LILITH!” Lilith's POV Reaching down Lilith gently brushed her fingertips along a rose peddle. She still loved it out here, it was the one place she could go to let the stress of life go. Something about this garden completely calmed her and quieted her chaotic mind. Humming to herself a small smile on her face she was just about to pull a flower from the ground when Odessa came barreling into the garden shouting her name. “Dess? Aren’t you supposed to be with Dante?” Lilith asked her eyebrows pinched together in confusion. “Vlad.” Odessa skidded to a stop in front of her out of breath and panting. “Vlad…he’s…alive.” She said between deep inhales as she tried to slow down her heart rate. “Vlad’s alive?” “Yes.” Odessa leaned over taking in several deeper breaths. “He attacked Dante and is now headed your way.” Odessa stood back up no longer panting and out of breath. “He attacked Dante?” Lilith looked over at Odessa. “Is he okay?” “Yes, he claims that Vlad didn’t mean to hurt him and did try to heal him, but Dante said no. He thinks Vlad is coming here to thank you for saving his life, but I still think we should be cautious we don’t know what state of mind he’s in.” “Agreed.” “Lilith?” “Yes?” Lilith looked back over at Odessa she could see the internal struggle Odessa was having. “Why did you do it?” “Vlad had taken us in and joined our fight no questions asked. He was kind when no one else was. I felt…I owed him.” “I hope he really is friendly and not coming here to attack us.” Odessa said a frown on her face. “Me too. Get Tristan to put a barrier up just in case and I’ll get Mic to get the soldiers ready for any surprise attacks.” Odessa nodded in agreement before turning and darting back toward the castle. Standing up from her seat Lilith was about to head back inside to find Mic when she felt him. “Vlad.” Lilith whispered looking all around the garden. How could she feel that he was here? Was it because she had turned him into a hybrid? Where they now linked? “Lilith it’s good to see you again.” Vlad stepped out from the shadow of a tree a grin on his face. “It’s good to see you too. I wasn’t sure that giving you my blood would save you, but I guess it has.” Lilith said smiling back at him. “I thought being a vampire was extraordinary but this.” Vlad spun around. “This is extraordinary. I see things even more clearly now than I ever had thank to you.” “I am glad you are happy. I knew it was a risk turning you. I didn’t want to take that choice from you, but I didn’t know what else to do to save you.” Lilith said dropping her gaze to the ground. “I am forever grateful for what you have done Lilith. You saved me and gave me a second chance.” Within a blink of an eye Vlad stood before her. Grabbing her hands in his he looked down at her a smile spread across his face. Looking up into his eyes she knew in that moment that he was friendly. He wasn’t going to hurt her or anyone here. He was grateful for what she had done to save him. “Do you feel that?” She whispered. “Yes, it’s like we are one.” Vlad said an eagerness in his voice. “What is it?” Lilith asked tilting her head at him. “We are bonded forever Lilith. You will always know where I am and if I am in trouble or not.” “Bonded. Like how Mic was bound to Leonidas?” “Yes and no. I don’t think you can force me to do anything, but we are bonded.” Vlad gentle squeezed her hands. “How do you know?” “I don’t know I just feel it in my bones.” “So, you’re not here to hurt me then.” Lilith couldn’t help but smile at him. “I would never hurt you.” Vlad said a slight frown on his face. “You saved me, I am forever in your debt, and will never let anyone hurt you.” Lilith dropped her head backing slightly away from him at the thought of being hurt. She had already been hurt beyond any repair. Did he know what had happened? Did he know that she killed Leonidas, that Alexander had also died? “I’m sorry about Alexander.” Vlad let go of her hand his fingers now resting under her chin as he gently lifted her face to meet his. “Thank you.” Lilith said looking up at him tears threatening to spill. “I’m here now nothing and no one will ever hurt you again.” Lilith looked into his eyes and knew he was telling the truth; she could feel it in her bones. It was like he was an open book that only she could read. He didn’t have to say a word and yet she knew exactly what he was feeling. She had never been bound to another before other than Alexander. It was different with Alexander they had been bound by the mate bond whereas Vlad was bound to her by her blood.
