Chapter 5

1280 Words
Elvina My jaw clenched as the water ran down my body. I felt feverish, but I knelt firm so I wouldn't act weak before Alina. She must think doing all these will stop me from wanting to be loved again by my mate. If only I weren't who stood by him until he was healed from his beastly form, then I would have no reason to stay back. I heard her scoff as she grabbed the second bottle and unsealed it. “I'm gonna show you how it feels to see you with the Alpha King—how painful it was,” she growled while I dared not to lift my head a bit. She felt so satisfied as she wet her room and my body, knowing that she wouldn't be the one to clean up the mess. “I hate you, Elvina!” she spat, and then the door made a sound, pulling both our attentions. Before she could say a thing, the door opened, and Alpha Nikolai showed up in the room. His face was twisted, like one who was infuriated…..but then, the disgust dissipated suddenly, and he had a dirty smirk on. What was that for? Why did he show up here? To mock me for not leaving the palace when he ordered that? “Alpha!” Alina dropped the bottle on the floor, slowly making her way towards him. “Could you stop having this asshole around you? I just hate the sight of her around you because she's one rival I don't know how to get rid of.” Alpha Nikolai arched his brows like he was perplexed. “What has she done? You wanted her to be your servant after I ordered her out of the palace. Isn't it?” “It is!” she snapped and nibbled her bottom lip. “I did that because she must have a bad motive towards us. When I was in school, she spellbound you and Luna Dowager so she could take my place, and then kept sending over threatening messages for me not to show up again or she would have us killed. So, I feel having her around here will make her powerless.” Alina stated. Her voice sounded so shattered. We both know that's not what happened, that she's the rival here. Alpha Nikolai gave me an irritating look and turned to Alina. His lips curled seductively. “If that's the reason, then I can take care of her outside the palace. Having her around is more dangerous as she's your closest servant.” She shook her head. If only Alpha knew what was going on. I don't know why I feel like he's pretending not to know me or because I was his tool back then. “I don't want you to stress yourself on her instead of the Pack affairs, so let me deal with her while she's here.” Alina rested her palms on his chest. I hated that sight—the way she caressed his chest while they stared at each other like some lovey-dovey birds. That was my position. I was the one supposed to be doing that to the Alpha. My heart began thumping again. This time, so uncontrollably that I thought it would burst. “Now you made a mess here because of her. She will have to clean it up. Why not come to my room until she's done?” Alpha Nikolai said to her, casting me a side glance like he was doing all that on purpose. I felt a lump form in my throat and took a hard gulp, followed by a gasp while I widened my eyes to hold back the tears. If I ever appear weak before them, they will do more than this. I have to know if Alpha Nikolai truly has amnesia first before I conclude. But how do I do it? If he is truly sick, then I'll have to find a way to cure him faster. ‘I'll meet Evangeline so she can help me at this point…’ I told myself and tucked my hair to my ears. As I lifted my head, Alina was resting on his chest, her arms around him. The look in his eyes was different—like that time when he drew me into his room. He stared at me constantly, his lips curling into a smile. I couldn't tell if it was disdain or cheerfulness. Alina pulled out of him and ran her fingers on his beard. “Let's go to your room….” she said to him, and he grabbed her hand. “Make sure you clean it very well,” Alpha said to me before they exited the room. I felt my heart sink into my belly. The pain of seeing your mate who loved you dearly cherish another woman in your place…..this is something else. I'm only hanging on for the sake of my brother. If I ever get another alternative, I will deal with Alina and Luna Dowager. A few seconds after they had left, I regained my senses and began cleaning up the room. It was a total mess because of Alina. If I ever get back my position, I will torture her first. I just hope the Alpha King truly has amnesia, so I would have hope, at least. The moment I was done and was dressing her bed, I felt a tap on my back, which made me flinch and fall into the bed. I gnashed my teeth as I saw Evangeline standing before me. “What is it? You startled the heck outta me….” I was already panting, thinking that it must be a grim reaper. She scoffed and transfixed her palms on her waist, “Alpha ordered that you prepare his dinner. That's what his beta said.” her voice was almost a whisper. My brows furrowed. Was I a chef, too? It's the role of the royal chef, so why should I be making his dinner? “Don't think of rejecting it because he will have you punished, and you will miss whatever he had in mind to order it. My Luna!” Evangeline snapped me out of my thoughts. I gazed at her and sneered. “When will you stop using that….” “I won't!” she retorted. “You're still going to take back that seat no matter what.” I swallowed softly. “Fine, I will go get the dinner ready. I already know what he will have for dinner." I muttered, and she kissed my cheek before leaving the room. When I was done with the room, I headed to the kitchen, ready to face the mockeries from the servants there. As expected, all eyes fell on me as they all whispered to themselves. I grabbed the apron and then the knife. Got the chopping bud before turning to the royal chef. “Where's the vegetable?” She glanced at the others and let out a loud hiss. “Shouldn't you get it yourself since you are no longer Luna?” I couldn't help but chuckle. “That's true! I am now a servant like you…..” I said to her and began searching for the vegetable until I found it in a bowel. I had them washed and began chopping them carefully, but a slip of my hand gave me a dip cut that caused my blood to soak on the chopper before I could drop the knife. While I was glancing around, seeking what to use on the wound, I heard the voice of the kitchen guard, “The Alpha King is here…..”
