Chapter 4

Alpha Nikolai. I felt a heavy headache strike my head the moment I screamed at her. A flash like a scene throbbed in my head, and then I felt my forehead covered with sweat. As I opened my eyes that I had been shutting, she was standing before me. I didn't know what was wrong with me, but there was something about this lady which made me think that she was my mate. My wolf growls each time I set eyes on her. “Alpha!” she rubbed her thumb on my lips, “are you okay? Why did you bring me in here?” Her voice was so polite that one would barely believe that I had been harsh on her since I woke up. My mother had told me that she was the one who turned me down before I became a beast and was back to me after I was healed by my mate, Alina. But, I don't feel a connection with that lady, Alina. As my Luna that my mother claimed that she was, and I was supposed to see her first. “I think I am not supposed to be here….” My forehead wrinkled. “Why are you still lingering around the palace? You should leave by now. I hate setting my eyes on you…..” I tried to scream at her this time, but couldn't. She looked so pretty. Her blue eyes dazzled. She stepped backwards, and I held her back. I couldn't just tell what was wrong with me. I wanted her out, but I can't find myself seeing that take place. Who was she truly to me before I went into a coma? “Uhmm,” she pulled herself out of my grip. “I'm sorry. We might be running into each other from now on, but you don't have to be worried since that won't bring us together again. I will be serving your Luna from now henceforth.” “My Luna!?” I wanted to whisper, but it came out loud. “How long has she been, my Luna?” She forced a smile on her face, wanting to speak, but swallowed back her words. Something wasn't right. The so-called Luna should be beside me and not parading around the palace. “Did you say you would be her servant?” I asked her, and she nodded. Looking at her, she didn't look sad, but I felt there was a hidden bitterness to those smiles. My mother forced her to sign the divorce paper after telling me stories of how she forced herself on me. If she truly did that, wasn't she supposed to be jealous of Alina? She bowed to me, unable to say something again, and then she opened the door. “Luna!!” came her voice from the doorpost. When I turned, I saw my mum and Alina standing at the doorpost. “The Alpha King had called me to know more about his Luna before I left the palace, but I already explained to him that I would serve his Luna.” She lifted her face. With her voice, one could tell that she was scared. Was she threatened? Why was she lying? The truth was that I didn't even know the exact reason I drew her in here. I had just been troubled since she signed that paper and left the hospital. I wanted to talk with her, but her telling me that she was now Alina's servant made me swallow all I had in mind. “Is that so?” came Alina's voice with her chin raised. “Then get out of here and make sure to stay away from him.” Huh? Wasn't I the Alpha King? Will my people have to avoid me because I have amnesia? My mother brushed shoulders with her and came forward to me. She patted my shoulder, faking a smile. “Don't mind her. She's such a b***h!” “b***h?” I shrugged my shoulders. “What's her name?” My mother stared at me for some time. I knew she was stunned that I asked her name when I shouldn't be doing that. “Elvina!” she responded and held my hand. “You should be taking a rest now…..” I slowly took my hand from hers. “But,” I began, drawing her attention, “how come I recalled everyone except her? Even if she was a golddigger, shouldn't I know that too? It's so weird that she's the only one I couldn't remember." I turned to the bed, walked closer to it, and then sat down. Alina slammed the door and walked forward to us. She got seated beside me and placed her arm on my shoulder. It felt like a thorn in my flesh. My wolf was snarling at her sitting position. I didn't want to have bodily contact with her. Was she truly my Luna back then or the gold digger? There's no way I got married to a woman I hate feeling her touch and one that makes my wolf sneer at me. A glance at her…it felt like the woman beside me was Elvina—because that was the face I saw at that moment. After some time, I felt a heavy hit on my head which brought back my senses only to see Alina beside me again. ‘With this image, it meant that I once sat lovely like this with Elvina. If she was a gold digger, I wouldn't allow that right?’ while contemplating, my mother tapped my thigh, pulling my attention towards her. “Mum, who has been taking care of Pack affairs since I was comatose?” She glanced at Alina first and then back at me. “Who else? It's Alina right here. That's why I insisted that she would take back her position as your Luna.” ‘Was that true? How will I know if it's true or not?’ I narrowed my gaze. “Alpha, I just don't like that you are overstressing your brain right now. You should be resting…..” I shifted away from her to take a good look at her body. Why was she being a w***e all of a sudden? I just don't like how I felt having her around. Elvina gave me comfort even though I had yet to know her so well. “I'm sorry for shifting. I only wanted to ask you to take me to my office and hand over the political and pack affairs to me." I said to her, gazing back at her. She looked disappointed. I guess she wasn't expecting that. “I won't let you do it until you are fully better….” she responded to me and licked her lips. “Yes, Nikolai. You should rest very well for now while I arrange a ceremony for you that will take place two days later. It's a welcome back ceremony that would be full of merriment and the whole pack would be here. So, take a good rest…..Alina will be crowned on that same day too.” my mother added, rubbing her palms against each other. With the way they insisted that I take a rest, I gave a reassuring nod. “If you two insist….” “I'll be back to spend more time with you, okay….” Alina kissed my cheek and hurried out of the room. I wiped my cheek with a frown covering my face. When I turned to my mother, she was scowling at me. “What's the meaning of that?” she asked, her voice husky. I scoffed. “Nothing! I think I'm allergic to kisses…..” “Allergic? How? When did that start…..?” her eyes grew wide as she shrieked at me. I turned to the door the moment I heard a masculine voice there. “The Alpha King's Beta!!!” My mother stood up instantly. “I'll leave you two to chat a bit. I'm sure you could recall your childhood friend.” she snapped at me and headed to the door. I rested my palms on my cheek while the young man walked in and bowed to me. Indeed, I recalled him, Ramsey, my childhood friend. He tried to hold my hand, but I stood instantly and pulled him into a hug. “Dude!” I whispered to his ear. “Why can I recall everyone except that lady, Elvina? I feel a strong bond towards her, but….” he instantly pulled away from me. “What are you insinuating? That you don't know who your mate is any longer?” My lips dropped agape. I heard him well—I could attest to that. “Elvina is your mate and was your Luna before you got into the accident…” he gestured, looking angry. I glanced at him, and then at the door. “Excuse me!” I quaked him at the side and stormed out of the room. As I entered the passageway, I could hear Alina's voice echoing along the hallway even though she was in her room, and I knew she was shouting at Elvina. I held the doorknob and pushed it open, only to see Alina emptying a bottle of water on Elvina's body.
