Kai’s POV:
My knees buckle as they give way and I let myself fall onto the cement. My mind is racing in many different directions as I try to catch my breath. Tyler and Ryker ask me if I’m okay, but it sounds like I’m in a wind tunnel and my vision is distorted.
“Kai. Kai. Take a deep breath,” Ryker says as he kneels in front of me.
The pain is immense… I can’t take it. Heartbreak…worry…concern. I feel the sweat dripping from my forehead as I struggle to maintain a regular breathing pattern. Through the commotion, I see Amber standing there and concern laces her beautiful face. What have I done? How could I do this to her? To our daughter?
