Prologue
Ashley Lizbrook had never been one to be afraid of the dark but for some reasons as she drove her rickety old car down the lonely road of Devil's Creek she could not help but shudder in fear. The tall trees and shrubs bordering either side of the road did nothing to calm her down. It was a bright night as the moon was shipped overhead from her view she could see the road was not paved. It was a chilly night and in the distance she heard the hooting of an owl. For a split second she considered turning around to pass the express way but soon decided against it. She slammed her foot on the accelerator as the car shot forward. She had an important appointment to meet up with Texas renowned editor. It had taken her long enough for her appointment with Karen to get through and she couldn't miss it for anything, who knew this could finally be her big break in her career. Ashley was a graduate from the literary department but with no job she had taken to writing. It was hard enough taking care of herself and her twelve years old daughter JoJo. She had gotten pregnant when she was just about to finish college and her parents the down to earth Christianity parents had disowned her.
Her boyfriend had also flown to Paris when Jojo was just two. She was jolted from her thoughts when suddenly her car screeched to a halt climbing out of the car she muttered a string of curse words. She was sure it wasn't gas because she had ensured she had a full tank before embarking on the journey. It was then she realized she had a busted tyre. How on Earth she was going to fix the tyre she didn't know.
She was utterly helpless as she couldn't call anyone to come get her from Devil's Creek. Suddenly in the distance ahead she saw the headlights of an incoming be vehicle a shimmer of hope bubbled through her as she managed to flag down the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle came down to help her but she was caught unawares until she felt a hard metal knocking her unconscious. Though she struggled to get a glimpse at her abductor she couldn't as she drifted into the darkness all she could think of was her daughter Jojo and the fact she had lost the chance of getting her big break.

Ashley Lizbrook woke up to the sound of rattling chains. As she blinked her eyes open the sudden realization that she had been kidnapped hit her. As she looked around where she was held captive she saw two women who looked beaten up as blood seeped through the thin layer of clothing they wore.
It was then she realized she was held captive in a dungeon and her hands chained to the wall, looking around she found out that there was no window so she couldn't tell if it was day or night. The jingling of keys broke her train of thoughts as she waited to see the face of her abductor. He was holding a torchlight as the light illuminated his path he was dangerously handsome with his grey eyes and as he advanced towards where she was held captive she grew cold not because of the whip he was wielding but because of the fact he was her ex boyfriend who left for Paris, Jojo's father Matthew Greg
We meet again he boomed.
