Wake up

A few days later.
In the room where the only sound audible is the beeping of the heart monitor, the door slowly gets open and a nurse walks in with a tray, carrying all the necessary equipment and medicine. The nurse stops near the bed and places the tray on the side table before picking up the machine to check the vitals of the patient. Everything seems normal as she checks and she makes her move to go back after checking. However, before she could even take a step, a loud sound beeps in the room and she hurriedly turns around to see Xavier moving his hand a little and his eyes stirring occasionally.
Seeing this, the nurse hurriedly runs out and opens the door of doctor Jack's room.
"Doctor, patient Xavier is waking up."The nurse says making doctor Jack stop his work immediately and look up at her.
"Let's go." He states and hurriedly leaves his room as he makes his way to Xavier's room.
When he reaches there, he enters the room and his eyes go wide as he looks at the scene in front of him.
"Xavier." He calls Xavier's name a few seconds later and then starts walking toward him whose eyes are open and scanning the room all around.
Doctor Jack reaches the bed and lowers his head to have a close look at Xavier. Xavier is wide awake and turns his head towards the doctor when he hears footsteps. After seeing the doctor checking him, he goes to open his mouth but no word comes out... His mouth is dry because he didn't speak for three days so now when he wants to talk it's becoming hard for him. However, realizing this, doctor Jack immediately fills a cup with warm water and helps me drink it by lifting his a little.
Xavier takes a mouthful of water and gulps it down and groans a little as the warm water passes through his throat making him feel like it's some foreign feeling. He shakes his head, signaling the doctor to stop feeding as he feels it's enough. Doctor Jack does as Xavier requested and places the glass back on the side table.

"Xavier, how are you feeling?" Doctor Jack queries him with concern.
"Bella? I want to see Bella." Xavier replies with his voice hoarse.
Instead of telling the doctor about his condition, Xavier's first intention is to see Bella. Doctor Jack isn't that surprised by that because he somewhat expected Xavier's reaction. Knowing about Xavier and his love for Bella, his Wife, and doctor know this would happen. Xavier always puts Bella first, even before him.
"Why don't you say anything? Bella is fine, right?" Xavier asks worriedly when doctor Jack stays silent with thoughts going through his mind.
"Yes, she's fine." Doctor Jack's words bring relief to him." but she's in the emergency room and still hasn't woken up."
"Take me to her," Xavier says and tries to get up but doctor Jack stops him immediately.
"You shouldn't get up, Xavier. You're badly injured and you still need to rest." Doctor states as he makes him sleep again.
"But I want to see her now." Xavier voices out, his tone filled with worry and nervousness.
Seeing how desperate Xavier is to meet Bella, doctor Jack decides to bring Xavier to Elena who's going to be Bella from now on.
"I'll make the arrangements. Just wait for a few minutes." Doctor Jack tells Xavier who nods at him eagerly, "also, I'll call your parents and inform them that you woke up."
Doctor Jack has sent the parents home yesterday as there's no reason for them to stay in the hospital. Both Xavier and Elena were still unconscious and the baby is under care. They were sitting in the chairs without having to do anything and adding to that Mrs. Selena collapsed, becoming a little weak. So, the doctor thought it's good to send them home until they woke up. They were recently to go but doctor Jack promised them that he would inform them immediately if the two woke up.

Doctor Jack leaves the room and goes out. He calls two helpers and arranges a stretcher with the help of which Xavier will be taken to see Bella. Xavier waits until the doctor makes the arrangements and a few minutes later, doctor Jack walks in with the helpers and the stretcher. Those helpers help Xavier by lifting him from the bed and putting him on the stretcher. While one of them moves the stretcher and the other holds the pole to which the injunctions are connected as doctor Jack leads them to the room where Bella is resting.
Xavier holds his breath and fists his palm tightly as they near the room with each passing second. Some unknown feeling is taking over him. It's like he's going to see Bella for the first time. His heart is beating crazily anticipating how Bella is and whether she's fine or not. He just wants to see Bella as soon as possible, until he sees Bella's well-being with his own eyes he can't be at ease.
As he thinks all these thoughts, they reach the emergency room and the door gets open. The helpers take him inside before stopping it, he turns his head, and his eyes well up with tears as he sees his Wife. The helper quietly leaves the room and doctor Jack stands at one side as Xavier watches Bella.
Bella is lying on the bed with many wires attached, one to her mouth, a few on her chest, and another to her hand. Her face is a relaxed expression as her eyes are closed. Xavier watches her without blinking and his tears fall out of his eyes before sinking into the pillow as his head is laid sideways. There are many emotions he's feeling right now, seeing his Bella, sad, confused, remorseful, but at least happy that Bella is well. He so wants to touch Bella and caress her face but the distance between them is not allowing him as they're in two different beds. but His heart feels at ease after finally seeing Bella and knowing she's well. A smile makes up on his face as he watches Bella lovingly. However, it vanishes as soon as his eyes land on Bella's tummy. Panic arises in his heart and he turns around in search of a doctor to find him standing at the corner. Seeing Xavier's worried face, doctor Jack immediately walks to him.
"What is it, Xavier? Is something wrong? Do you feel any pain?" Doctor Jack questions Xavier as he thinks he's in pain.
"Baby, where is our baby?" Xavier calls out hurriedly.
Doctor Jack looks confused for a second before he sees Xavier's eyes focused on Bella's tummy. He releases a sigh of relief realizing nothing is wrong with Xavier, it's just that he's worried about the baby.
"Because of the accident, we had to operate on her and take out the baby. As it was unplanned and because of the impact of the accident, the baby needed to be put in an incubator. But don't worry, with proper care the baby would be fine in no time." Doctor Jack assures Xavier that he won't be worried and put his health in danger.
"The baby is fine for real, right? Can I see the baby?" Xavier asks for confirmation.
"Yes, Xavier, your baby is really fine. I'm not lying." The doctor confirms, "but I can't take you to see the baby. You're still recovering, Xavier, you shouldn't be moving so much. Have enough rest so that you'll recover quickly."
To the doctor's suggestion, Xavier nods in agreement and decides he would see his baby later.
"Is Bella unconscious all this time? she didn't wake up even once?" Xavier queries but his attention is on Bella.

"No, she hasn't woken up until now. No need to worry, because of the injuries and surgery, the medication is keeping her asleep. She'll wake up soon." Doctor Jack replies,
"if that's all, I'll have to back to your room."
"Let's go to your room Xavier" Doctor said to Xavier.
"No, I want to be here with Bella." Xavier rejects when doctor Jack says he'll take Xavier to his room.
"But Xavier--" The doctor was about to say something when Xavier pleads with him. "Please, doctor." Seeing how much Xavier wants to stay with Bella, doctor Jack agrees with him.
"Okay, I'll call nurses to arrange the required monitoring machines for you. They'll come here at regular intervals to check on you both. If you need me for anything, press this bell and I'll be here." The doctor tells me and with a nod from him, he leaves the room.
Soon after, the nurses set up everything for Xavier and he slowly falls asleep while watching Bella. He wakes up to the loud beeping and opens his eyes to see Bella stirring and her eyeballs moving beneath her eyelids. Xavier hurriedly presses the bell and a minute later doctor Jack walks into the room along with their parents. Xavier doesn't know when their parents came here but that's not the main question now.
Doctor Jack walks to Bella's side and starts checking him to see Bella's movement. A few seconds later, Bella opens her eyes and looks at the doctor. She turns her head and sees Xavier and their parents.
"Bella," Xavier calls out her name but Bella's reply makes Xavier's heart stop beating.
"Who are you?"
