Her Triggering Memories.
Jared's POV.
A smirk curled on my lips when I realised that their brawl had come to an abrupt halt, and all eyes were now fixated on me.
This was exactly what I had been aiming for. My heart pounded with anticipation, every fibre of my being itching for them to come at me with everything they had.
I couldn't wait to face them, to hold them close and tear out their throats while their blood sprayed across the ground like a macabre metallic rain.
"Come here!" I growled, my voice dripping with challenge, and I watched as their faces contorted with anger and determination. Some of them immediately charged in my direction.
It was a full moon, and they believed this was their best chance to take me down, thinking I was at my weakest during this phase.
Little did they know, I had mastered the art of channelling my rage in the right moments at least, for now. I eagerly awaited their approach so I could begin tearing them apart.
Lucian and Sam positioned themselves in front of me, their faces determined, hands at the ready to defend against the charging rogues.
There was no trace of fear in their expressions; they were prepared to take on these rogues without hesitation.
Their eyes locked onto mine, and I smiled, silently conveying my thoughts.
"Just be sure to save some for me," I muttered under my breath, my fists clenched as I watched them intently.
"Of course, Alpha," they responded with grins, and as the rogues closed in, they launched their counterattack.
My eyes carefully observed them, keeping an eye on anyone within my line of sight. My face displayed anger, and as I seized one of the rogues, I allowed my elongated fingers to pierce his neck, causing his blood to spill.
"Ugh!" I flung the lifeless body to the ground, my gaze now fixed on the remaining rogues who had managed to elude the Beta and Gamma.
"Here, take that! And that!" I couldn't help but smirk as I watched the Beta and Gamma thoroughly enjoy their battle.
"Ahh!" I shouted, trying my best to restrain myself from going all out. The act of taking down these rogues gave my raging wolf a certain kind of satisfaction, pulling me deeper into the midst of the battle.
I couldn't help but smile as we brought these rogues down to their knees.
The contented smirk on my face brought me a sense of joy. It indicated that we could defeat these rogues without much effort.
Our determination surged as we engaged with them, slashing and tearing through their ranks, leaving them sprawled on the ground with pools of blood forming around them.
I maintained a strong defence, my claws sinking deep into one of the rogues as I brutally ripped out his heart.
These were the moments I despised, the times that revealed the merciless side of me.
I roared in satisfaction, relishing the scent of my enemies' blood permeating the air in the park.
This day marked a lesson for them, a warning not to encroach upon my territory. I had had enough of these rogues trying to challenge me. Today was the day I would make my stand.
The battle raged on, and I observed their movements with sidelong glances. I marvelled at how skillfully they dispatched the rogues.
Their hands moved in a seamless rhythm, taking down the rogues with such finesse that it almost seemed like magic.
My pack werewolves were dreadful, strong, yet they didn't possess the same level of ruthlessness that I did.
The fight dragged on, and the rogues kept coming, as if there were some hidden path leading them to this location.
"Alpha, how are you holding up?" Sam called out, veins bulging on his forehead as he sliced an enemy's throat.
"I just wish to kill more of them!" I replied with fervour, moving even faster than before, my claws tearing through their throats as I revelled in their agonised screams.
I had lost myself in the heat of battle, savouring the way I unleash my rage; it was utterly exhilarating!
The battle raged on, unforgiving and brutal. Yet, in the midst of the chaos, as I slashed through one of the rogues, a vivid image of Sarah, my mate, who I had left helpless at the hospital, flashed before my eyes.
My attack landed in the exact same spot, and the reaction from the rogue triggered the haunting memory once more.
Everything, including my own actions, came to a sudden halt. I shook my head vigorously, attempting to banish the painful recollection.
My heart began to pound loudly in my chest, and as the memory replayed relentlessly in my mind like a broken record, I felt an intense throbbing pain in my head.
"Ugh!" I shouted, the agony of recalling that moment hitting me like a tidal wave. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced before, and the pain was all too real.
It was so overwhelming that it completely diverted my attention from the battle at hand.
"No! No!" The rage was resurfacing, and the act of killing around me wasn't helping because I had seen what had triggered my anger again.
"No!" I yelled, but in that moment, a rogue crept up behind me. My attention was no longer focused on the battle around me, and no matter how loudly I screamed, the feeling of anger and pain wouldn't dissipate.
It was consuming me from within, and I continued to scream in an attempt to release the torment. Suddenly, I felt a sharp s***h on my back.
"Ugh!" I winced as blood trickled down my back, not just any blood, but my own. It was a gruesome reminder that I couldn't escape. The image of Sarah, lying in her own pool of blood, haunted me relentlessly.
My heart pounded fiercely within my chest, the world around me spinning into a chaotic blur, and disturbing voices filled my head.
I saw Lucian rush to my side, and then, in the blink of an eye, he was behind me, and all I could see was splatters of blood everywhere.
Sinking to my knees, I felt Lucian's strong presence holding me, but my vision grew hazy, and the weight of darkness began to descend.
My eyes surrendered to the pain and regrets I felt.
