Ignoring All Pleas For Mate! Jared's POV. My eyes snapped open, fixated on the ceiling as I absorbed the sounds of my surroundings. Everything was eerily quiet, with only the faint dripping of water from the tap in the bathroom breaking the silence. The room felt unusually cold, sending a shiver down my spine. I became increasingly anxious. Slowly, I sat up, allowing my eyes to roam the room, but there was no one present to offer an explanation. I pushed myself off the bed, rising to my feet with a wince of pain. My body felt strange, as if it weren't quite my own. "What the f**k happened?" I muttered, my head throbbing, and my throat feeling parched. I attempted to recollect the events leading up to this moment, but my attempts were futile. It was as if something had blocked my memories from resurfacing. "Damn it!" I muttered, frustration boiling within me as I took quick, shallow breaths. Frustrated by my inability to remember, I decided to stretch my body for a moment. Remaining cooped up in this room wouldn't yield any answers. I needed to find someone who could explain what had transpired from the beginning. As I went out of the room, my steps led me towards the kitchen. However, I was almost there when I crossed paths with Lucian. He appeared genuinely relieved to see me. "Alpha, how are you feeling?" he asked with a warm smile. Furrows etched across my forehead as I shot him a piercing glare, but I didn't respond to his question. The look in his eyes told me something had indeed transpired, but what that something was remained a mystery. "Bring me a glass of water," I ordered, brushing aside any small talk as soon as he laid eyes on me. "Yes, Alpha." Lucian's concern was evident, and I could sense his watchful gaze on me even as I headed back to my room. He genuinely cared about my well-being, and I couldn't deny I was equally concerned about myself. Once I was back in my room, I shut the door behind me and began pacing back and forth, desperately trying to piece together what had occurred. What was I missing? "Damn it!" I clutched my head, straining to recollect the events of the full moon. However, no matter how hard I strained, the memories remained frustratingly elusive. My attention was abruptly drawn to the doorknob, which was twisting as if someone was trying to open it. I watched intently, wondering who it could be, and soon enough, Lucian entered with a glass of water in hand. He approached me and handed me the glass, which I took without breaking eye contact with him. My mind was still grappling with the baffling absence of any memory from the previous night. "Lucian, tell me something," I began, my voice tinged with frustration. "What do you wish to know, Alpha?" Lucian inquired, his gaze locked on me, awaiting my question. But as I pondered, I found myself at a loss for words, my brows furrowing in confusion. I mustered the words, my voice carrying a mix of anxiety and impatience. Lucian's face remained unreadable, his gaze steady on me. "They are all fine," he replied with a calm and measured tone. I nodded, indicating he could leave. As he started to turn towards the door, a sudden realisation struck me, and I called out to him urgently. "Lucian!" I called, making him pause mid-stride. The atmosphere in the room felt charged, and I could sense the gravity of the situation, even if he seemed composed. He turned back to face me, his neutral expression unchanging. I couldn't discern what was going on in his mind, and the tension was noticeable. "What about my Mate... I mean... how is she?" I stammered out the question, my heart pounding loudly in my chest, despite my efforts to keep it in check. My eyes bore into his, and my body trembled with anticipation for his answer. Lucian's neutral expression finally broke, replaced by a look of confusion, and I felt a heavy lump forming in my throat. I repeated the question, my voice tinged with anxiety, "What about my mate?" He let out a sigh and stared at me for a moment before asking if I truly didn't remember what had happened last night. I shook my head in denial, and he proceeded to fill me in on the events I had missed. Lucian pressed his lips together, his gaze unfocused as he seemed to gather his thoughts. Then, he spoke the words that sent a shiver down my spine, "You slashed her last night, and she's currently in the hospital, fighting for her life!" His voice carried a tone of anger that sent a rumble of unease through me. For the first time, I felt a surge of fear and confusion, goosebumps prickling on my skin as I gulped in response to the shocking divulgence. I locked eyes with Lucian, searching for any sign that he might be lying, but his sincerity was painfully evident. Slowly, I made my way to the edge of the bed and sank down, as if the weight of his words had turned my limbs to lead. It felt like I had been struck by a thousand bricks because this couldn't be real. Why couldn't I remember anything from last night if something this terrible had occurred? "No! No!" my inner voice screamed, trying to drown out the voices in my head. "She's in the hospital, you attacked her, she's..." The words played over and over in my mind like a broken record. I clenched my fists, squeezing my eyes shut with gritted teeth. She was in the hospital, and it was all my fault. I jolted up from the bed, a surge of adrenaline coursing through me. I rushed to the door and stormed out of the building, ignoring Lucian's desperate pleas for me to stop. "Alpha! You aren't healed yet!" His voice rang in my ears, and I could almost visualise the veins popping out on his forehead and neck. "Alpha!" he yelled, but I didn't halt. My only focus at the moment was nothing else than my rejected Mate. I needed to see her, and nothing, not even Lucian's words, could stop me at this moment.
