We Have A Threat! (Save Her!!)

Jared, 's POV. "She's mine!" I growled fiercely, dropping Sarah on the ground for a second, my gaze turned and locked on Lucian. It infuriated me that he wanted to take Sarah away from my arms. A part of me almost urged me to strike him, but I managed to restrain myself. "I'm sorry, Alpha," Lucian offered a sincere apology, his eyes unwavering, as if my anger didn't faze him. I shoved him aside, my attention refocusing on the woman who was supposedly my mate. She lay unconscious, blood seeping from her wounds and forming a chilling pool around her. My jaw clenched, my chest rising and falling with my erratic heartbeat as I knelt beside her, determined to do whatever was necessary. My heart pounded in my chest, not out of fear, but out of concern for this weak omega. The amount of blood she was losing was just so much, and I couldn't afford to lose her too, not yet. With an internal growl of frustration, I carefully cradled her, supporting her weight against me. Her blood had stained my chest, but that was the least of my concerns. My face displayed a fierce determination, an expression that I doubted anyone present truly understood, including myself. My forehead felt like it might burst with the veins that had risen to the surface, and my grip around her waist tightened. If she had been conscious, she might have screamed due to the sheer force of my hold. "You're not going to slip away, you won't die yet, not when I still have use for you!" I was an Alpha of unwavering strength, and ordinarily, her fate wouldn't have mattered to me in the least. However, in this particular situation, I couldn't allow her to die, for she was the only key to breaking this darned curse that bound me from a young age. I hurriedly placed her in the back seat of my car after finding my way out of the thick woods and without hesitation, I jumped into the driver's seat. The engine's roar signalled my readiness to leave, and I firmly pressed the gas pedal, propelling the car forward. The drive seemed endless, despite my breakneck pace. Sweat trickled down my forehead, and my eyes darted anxiously between the road and the rearview mirror. In my heightened state of panic, it wouldn't have been surprising if I'd caused an accident. I sighed heavily, my fingers gripping the steering wheel so tightly it felt as if I might wrench it from its mountings. Finally arriving at the hospital, I quickly exited the car, urgently roaring, "Nurse! Nurse!" while rushing to the back seat to retrieve her. She felt incredibly fragile in my arms, her complexion turned ghostly pale, most likely due to the significant loss of blood. Once a nurse finally noticed us, she swiftly instructed her colleagues to bring a stretcher, emphasising the urgency of getting her into the emergency room. However, when they arrived with the stretcher, I adamantly refused to let them touch her, insisting on seeing Doctor Albert. "Where's Doctor Albert?!" I demanded, cutting off the nurse as she tried to explain. "But, sir, we…" She began, but I didn't let her finish, repeating the doctor's name once more. "I asked… Where is Doctor Albert!!?" I growled furiously and impatiently. As if he had sensed my urgent summons, Doctor Albert hurriedly appeared from his office, hastily adjusting his coat and methodically arranging his stethoscope. He took a moment to catch his breath, clearly aware of the seriousness of the situation. "I'm sorry it took me this long to be here, Alpha Jared I was just…" He was going to keep explaining but who needed explanations when his mate was dying? So, I cut in. "Listen to me Albert…" I took closer steps to him, "Make sure you take care of my mate. She must not die no matter what!!" I implored, my voice carrying the weight of my desperation although I was fully aware Sarah might not survive. The doctor swallowed hard, attempting to ease the lump in his throat, and adjusted his collar. Then, he signalled to a group of nurses to bring forth a stretcher. When they did, I carefully laid Sarah on it, and followed closely behind the doctor, my mind filled with a whirlwind of thoughts. This was a serious situation, one where losing something so crucial could spell the end of my own life. Suddenly, two nurses abruptly halted, blocking the path I intended to take, their expressions gravely serious, their eyes locked onto mine. "We're sorry, Alpha, but we can't allow you to go through. You'll have to wait out here," one of them informed me. Though taken aback, I didn't argue the point. My immediate concern was that Sarah had to survive, no matter what. Her life hung in the balance, and I knew that if she didn't make it, there might be no other way to break this relentless curse. My chest continued to pound, and I paced back and forth in front of the emergency ward. The situation was immensely challenging, and all I could do was keep exhaling through pursed lips, my thoughts a turbulent storm. My eyes widened with terror as a piercing sound, audible only to the pack's guards, filled the air. "Rogues!" I snarled through my gritted teeth, the same fury from earlier surging forth once more. It was becoming increasingly difficult to contain my emotions. So, I shut my eyes tightly, letting my fingers dig into the flesh of my palms. All I could imagine in that moment was a gruesome scene of bloodshed, causing thick veins to bulge on my forehead. "Ugh!" I cried out, clutching my head as I collapsed to my knees. I took deep, rapid breaths while my hands clenched my hair so fiercely it felt like I might rip it out. The only sounds that registered were the hurried footsteps and hushed voices of some nurses in the hospital. Some of them approached, asking me questions, while others wisely kept their distance. "Ahhh, ugh!" I couldn't help but emit guttural sounds, feeling an overwhelming surge of rage that made me want to tear anything in my path to shreds. A sensation of heat coursed through me, and my throat clenched as the lump that had been lodged there finally dissipated. "Alpha, are you…" one of the nurses began to inquire. "Move!" I snapped, cutting her off, my attention suddenly drawn by two familiar voices that broke through the chaos. It was Gamma Sam and Beta Lucian, making their way through the commotion to reach me. I lifted my eyes to meet their gazes, finding their faces etched with lines of concern amidst their evident confusion. It struck me as odd that they were here. Instead of overseeing the safety of the pack, they stood there, staring at me with worry. "Alpha, what is the…" one of them started to ask, but I cut them off, sensing that my own well-being was not the prior concern right now. "What are you doing here?! You should be protecting the f*****g pack!" They fell silent for a moment, and when they realised I was waiting for an explanation, they spoke in unison, their voices tense. "We have a threat tonight, Alpha!"
