chapter 5

Angela-

I wake up from a horrible nightmare. In it my whole family lying in front of me dead. I try to wake them up but it doesn't work. instead they all rise. After that, they come for me; ready to tear me apart.

I take a look around and I find a pen and paper.

I going to see if my mom alive. I'll be back as soon as possible. -Angela

I put the note on my pillow and head to the door. I look over to see if Junior asleep, but Mckenzie not there.

"Where are you going?" Mckenzie asks coming from behind me.

"Out." I tell her dryly. She was always stuck up. One minute she wants nothing to do with me. than the next she acting sweet and like she my best friend.

"Where are you going?" She says sternly while crossing her arms.

"To see if my family alive." I say annoyed. Hopefully now she let's me leave.

She looks down for a bit and sighs. "I'm going with you." I was shocked; why would she do that?

"Why?" I just needed to know. I wanted to know.

"Because I want to see if my family alive too." She says looking down. She was fighting her own thoughts. Despite how happy she seemed, she was always negative. She expected the worst to happen.

"Ok leave a note. I left one on my bed." She walks to my room and is in there for a minute.

When she comes out she opens the door. "Let's go." She says.

The walk there was quiet. I tried speaking twice but she shushed me. telling me that we didn't know what was out here and needed to be quiet.

When we get there the place looks torn up,and I head inside. I turn around and make a follow me motion. She shakes her head no and makes a disgusted look.

I look around and see my uncle and stepdad dead. I wide a tear from my eye and focus on my mom. I go to her room and scream. My mom and aunt were zombies and roaming. My aunt had her guts coming out of her stomach. I pulled a knife that I took from the kitchen. My aunt lunges at me first and I barely dodge. Next my mom comes for me and I stab her the way Jace did to that one zombie. I turn to face my aunt and I watch as her head fall from her body. I look to see my cousin Brandon looking in horror at her body.

"Brandon!" I squeal. I run up and hug him. His hands stay limp at his side. As he looks from his mom to his dad. Emily runs in and fall next to her mom crying.

"I'm sorry for your lose." I say quietly.

She looks at me raging. "It wouldn't be a lose if your mom didn't eat her." She says through gritted teeth.

Brandon puts his hand on her shoulder. "Don't take your anger out on her." He says delicately.

"Why not. Her and her family ruin everything. Why can't I point my finger at the person who deserves it. They are a disaster and I have to suffer for even being related to them." Each word she said was a stab to my heart. All the time we hung out together. Did she always feel this way about me and my mom?

"their our family." Brandon says barely a whisper.

She stands up. "not anymore." Than she walks out.

Brandon-

I follow my sister out and see Mckenzie. I smile at her and my sister and I walk up and give her a group hug. I used to have a crush on her. I would imagine us together as I hold her and kiss her.

We pull away from the hug."There a white house down that way." Mckenzie says, "That's a safe place for you guys." She looks back at us and smiles.

"Who all there?" Emily asks.

"Jace, Junior, and Anthony." Mckenzie states. Jace and Anthony were friends of mine. We hung out every once in a while. We would act stupid and have a blast. They weren't my main friend group though.

"I'll see you when you get there Mckenzie." I say as I walk away with Emily by my side.

Angela hurries out with tears flooding out of her eyes. She runs up to me and hugs me tightly. "I'm sorry my mom ate yours up. Please don't hate me for it." I hug her back and pull away.

I knew deep down Emily didn't hate her too. It just my mom always worried about her and her mom alot more than her own health. When her mom got sick, my dad repeatedly told my mom not to go over there and risk getting herself sick. My mom loved her sister to much though. She couldn't let her deal with it on her own.

Angela looks at Emily, "I'm sorry you mom died because of mine. Please don't be mad at me" Angela says sobbing.

"I just need time." Emily says quietly.

I wave bye to Angela and walk with Emily to the white house Mckenzie talked about.

We don't get far before a white mustang pulls up. Logan gets out and gives us a hug. He was another one of our cousins and my trouble maker buddy. He had short, straight, and black hair. He had a light tan and brown eyes.

"I thought I was the only one alive." He smiles warmly at us.

"Nope we survived. We're going to others if you want to join." Emily says. She tries to hide it but sadness is hinted in her voice.

"Ya of course I'll join." Logan says cheerfully. "hop in."

We hop in the car and we drive to the house. When we pull up we walk to the door and try the doorknob. It's locked."Hey losers let me in." Logan says banging the door.

Anthony throws open the door smiling. "I can't believe you here." He pulls logan into a hug. "A troublemaker never dies."

Logan laughs and pushes his way into the house. "I could say the same about you." He looks at Jace and Junior.

Junior comes up and also gives him a hug. "It's good to see you." He pulls away.

"Same to you." Logan gives him a playful punch to the arm. "So I this everyone?"

Jace walks over and studies him. "Where have you been this whole time?"

"Home, I was waiting for one of my brothers or at least a family member to get home." Logan says casually.

"Sawyer hanging with a different crowd now." Jace says. Logan was Sawyer older brother. they was inseparable and they hung out alot together.

"Is he ok?" Logan asks.

"Physically yes, mentally no." Junior says in a huff.

"What do you mean by that?" Logan asks.

"It's nothing important. Just as long as we don't have anymore issues with him." Says Jace crossing his arms.

Emily locks the front door turning eyes to us. "Mckenzie said we could join." Emily says.

"Where is she?" Junior says walking to us. "I've been worried about her. the only thing I have is a note from her and Angela. I don't like knowing that she out there." Junior eyes are full of worry.

"She's fine. They will be back soon." I tell Junior.

"I hope so." He says walking to the couch. He sits down and puts his head in his hands.

Anthony sits next Junior and puts his hand on Junior shoulder. "She's ok, she a surviver like us." Junior nods and wipes a tear that fell from his eye.

"I just lost R.J, I can't lose her too." He says in a shaky voice.

"R.J dead?" Emily cries. She covers her mouth and starts to cry.

Jace comes up and hugs her. "I'm sorry you have to find out this way." She hugs him back and they stay in a embrace for a bit as she cries.

Junior stands up. "I'm going to go to a room for some alone time." He heads off to a back room. For the rest of the time we stay in silence.

Mckenzie-

"So you ready to go back." Angela had watched her cousins walk away. She had cried the whole time to the point her eyes were puffy and red.

"I wanna go to my house." My hope was slim that they was alive but I wanted to know. Just to be sure.

"ok." With that we start walking to my house.

When we get there I run inside. I look around their room and notice alot of their stuff was packed. The pictures on the wall was also gone and I brought my hopes up. They might've got out.

"Their stuff packed along with pictures." I say excitedly. "They must've got out."

Angela looks at me and she starts to cry again. "I'm happy for you." She says through the sobs.

I walk to my room feeling guilty. With what she just saw at her house has to be eating her up. I look through my clothes and and settle for a black crop top and dark blue jeans. They had slits at the knee and pockets. I loved these jeans because they were so cute and comfortable too. When I get dress, I grab my black hoodie, that has kitty ears. I grab a red Nike hoodie and take it out to Angela.

"It's going to get cold why don't you take this." I toss the hoodie at her and she catches it. I go to walk out when I notice a note on the ground.

Your parents said yes to me. You should too.

I look at Angela. "We need to leave."

Mr. B-

I got done with a meeting when I was informed that Sawyer wanted to discuss with me. I walk in to him pacing back and forth in my office.

"Logan with them now." Sawyer says with worry in his voice. "I'm not gonna hurt them while my brother with them."

I laugh, "Give him the option to join us than."

"What if he says no?" He says pleading at me.

"Than it doesn't matter if he your family or not. He either joins or suffers." I give a wave of my hand to dismiss him. My most trusted person; questioning me over his brother was going to be a problem. Even if Logan said yes I was going to have to get rid of him.
