Sol had been nervous before but as the clock moved from ten minutes to five, the more it kept moving, their heartbeat got worse and so did the pacing around in the parking lot. A few people that might have passed by probably thought Sol was insane, it damn right looked like it and Sol felt insane. Each second was nerve wrecking and this would all turnout for the worst than best, given the circumstances today — Sol felt extremely happy but that faded each time their mind made a snobby remark. Gosh, was asking people out, always been so difficult — and why? Liking them was hard enough. It turned out that a bit of what June said yesterday wasn’t a complete lie — getting her flowers — Sol did that in order to profess their undying love, crush, for June. Sol got to work, looking up beautiful flowers and meanings, all through out the day, yesterday — at work. Right after work, Sol visited about three flower shops near the area, asking for suggestions and seeing their bouquets — one stood out and Sol settled on them. Thinking long and hard on the suggestion and the research earlier — which would have been easier if, Sol had the slightest knowledge on flowers apart from roses and lilies — but regardless of the struggle, Sol went with roses. Which, when they look at the bouquet of a hundred roses — it looked very basic — and that had Sol stressed with endless possibilities. One, what if June didn’t like them, nor feel the same. Two, they already messed up today as it is, June was surely upset with Sol or hated Sol by now — which was double f**k. How did Sol f**k up? You ask. Well, Sol is a horrible liar, around June anyway and that meant this ‘surprise’ wouldn’t be a surprise if they opened their mouth, because Sol’s lies — according to June — where either to unbelievable to believe and their body always gave it out. Yep, completely f****d unless Sol avoided her — It sounded way better in Sol’s head than it had been implementing it. Which was only once as Sol’s f****d it up from the beginning. June abruptly showed up in the hallway, early in the morning, walking towards Sol who she had already seen going in the direction she was coming from. Sol would have played it cool and said they had work to do, walk away and left June not feeling as bad as she did when she saw Sol turn and runaway. On the way Sol might have tripped over and June kept calling their name but Sol’s legs were apparently on a sprint race. That was as early as eight in the morning, and the hammer on the nail, had to be answering an ‘important’ call when June came to their desk — leaving the woman confused. After that, Sol hadn’t known if they were avoiding June, or she took the hint and avoided Sol? — or gave Sol space — but one thing Sol knew, a lot of apologises had to be said before June could remotely let Sol take her out. Yeah, that was that — oh and Sol had been waiting right besides her car, with the bouquet — knowing she was about to walk out that building any minute now. Scratch that minute — it was going down now. Sol hide the bouquet, behind her car before walking to stand beside the drivers’ car door — just a precaution not letting June drive away. June frowned noticing the self invited guess, that managed to f**k over her day — twice. “Hello June.” Sol waved hand, a smile on their face — a bit nervous and excited, much more nervous each second as June just stood there. “I’m very sorry about today.” Sol added. A soft sigh left June’s lips, resting her bodyweight against the car. “What did I do wrong?” June asked, her tone tired — not angry — just tired. Sol frowned, disappointed in June but them. “June you did nothing.” Sol quickly replied. “Why were you avoiding me?” “I—” “Don’t say you had work. I saw you run away from me Sol.” her voice cracked a bit, blinking away a few tears, she proceeded. “I thought we were okay. This was going somewhere.” her hand moved between them, for clarity. “June, we are okay—” “Clearly not.” she hissed, cutting Sol off. Another sigh, June quickly wiped away a few tears with the palm. “And if you want to apologize, save it for Monday — I’m exhausted.” “June—” “You know, yesterday I brought you there for a reason but I was afraid, I chickened out.” she spoke again, right before Sol, not giving room to Sol. “What reason?” asked Sol, taking a step towards June, who remained unmoved. “Does it matter?” Sol firmly nodded. “Yes.” she pursed her lips, considering it but shook her head against it, what good would it do anyway. “Forget about it.” Sol, had pulled her closer, pulling her in an embrace she desperately wanted to reciprocate but her arms just fell to her sides — letting Sol hug her. “I like you too, June.” Her eyes flew opened and tried pulling away just that Sol wouldn’t let her, holding onto her tightly. “As a friend. For me it’s more.” June sighed, Sol still embracing her. “—Much more.” she whispered. “I don’t remember saying I only like you as a friendly.” Sol pulled back, walking to the back of the car — they picked the flowers up turning to June again. “Sol—” “I avoided you all day, because I can’t keep a secret and I’m bad at telling lies.” Sol explained, standing closer to June, the bouquet Inbetween them. “I didn’t mean to make you upset, or make you feel like s**t. I’m sorry June.” “I—” How the tables turn. Sol held a finger over June’s lips, “Listen. I like you, a lot — Damn, I’m bad at this.” Sol chuckled, pulling their finger away. Sol stared into June’s eyes, not breaking eye contact. “Would you like to go on a date with me and if I don’t f**k it up — we could go on more, together.” Sol hadn’t missed the tears rolling down her face, as she hid her face in her palms. Sol was bad at consoling crying people and very awkward at it, June could tell as she felt Sol tap her shoulder trying to grab her attention. “Flowers?” Sol offered with a smile, both hands holding it out to her. June chuckled taking them. “What?” Sol asked, wiping away June’s tears with their right palm. “I’m so sorry.” Sol mumbled, feeling extremely horrible — all this was their fault. June shook her head. “I’d love to go on a date with you.” slipping her arms around Sol’s frame. “So, you happened to pass by a flower shop?” “Yes, I tripped my way in.” June laughed, holding onto Sol tighter — and that couldn’t make more happy.
