. He kept on crying like a little boy whose candy was taken from him. The site of her son in such a state broke Penelope. She has never seen Xavier like this but what could she do, she was a mother after all and she wanted what was best for her son and on her perspective, getting a good wife for her son was the best she could do. She believed that this was just a phase that Xavier will eventually pass. “Xavier, please try to understand. I’m only a mother. I only want what is best for you and all I know is loving another man is a losing game. How will you be happy married to another man? How…” Penelope was cut off by a raging Xavier, “You want what is best for me you say.” Xavier let out a sarcastic chuckle as he said those words. “Mother what do you know about what’s best for me? Are you even thinking about me, how I feel while you and father are taking these decisions for me? You say you want what is best for me! What do you know about what is best for me! You don’t know anything! Ha, ha, how ironic. You claim you love me and you will do what is best for me! To you what is best for me is to see me cry every day. To you what is best for me is to see me suffer. You don’t do what is best for me! You don’t care how I feel! You only do what is best for yourself because you only care about what other’s think! You would rather have me die than be who I really am, a fa…” Xavier received a tight slap from his mother before he could finish his words. The burning fire inside of him was further ignited by the slap. He could not take it anymore. He no longer cared about his parents. The only thing they have done for his was give birth to him and provide shelter. Other than that there was nothing. People thought that he was loved and treated like an egg since he was the only child but he felt as if growing up, he was only taught to be an emotionless boy. He had to sit up straight, not play in the mud like other kids, and always be clean, not to interact with other kids. He was told celebrating his birthday was childish and he should not because it would make him weak. He was only a boy not a knight. “Xavier! I am still your mother! You cannot talk to me like that do you unders…” “You are still my mother. Help me mother. You cannot, right? You cannot help me just like how you cannot unbreak the broken heart. Just like how you cannot unsay all the hurtful words you and father said to me. Just like how you cannot undo the actions by father. I can only pray to God to help me now because clearly the parents he has given me don’t want to see me happy that is why they let me burn.” Xavier feel from his bed with a thud and went on his knees before his mother. “See I am down on my knees and I need you to be my savior, I know the chances of finding Alexander alive are very slim but I will take those odds. Please mother.” Xavier looked like a madman as he begged his mother to help him. Penelope stared at her son for a while and after some time of silence she pushed him away and walked out of the room without saying a word.
