Chapter 78

I woke up bothered by my heart, my head is not cooperating with me, as I cannot understand what I feel. I didn’t know that it will bother me like this and as long as everything remain unanswered this will continue for so long.

“I am not sure,” I whispered to myself as I get up from my bed and turned off my alarm that woke me up. I brushed my hair with my hand, and stood up to go to the bathroom.

This is the day where father will meet us all, to talk about the smuggled weapons that just recently arrived in our base, and unfortunately dad did not find any other GRX 9090, card so that means that I will hand my prized card to him.

This is not a problem for me anymore as I already prepared myself to deal with it, as a matter of fact, I already replaced the graphics card inside my system unit, and in the meeting as father tell us what are the weapons for and how important its role is gonna be inside our organization, I will hand this card to him.

He explained to me that this is the only card that can power up the simulation feature that the machine has, and unfortunate for its maker and also for me, they did not manage to get their hands on the card, that’s why they gave it dad.

I went straight to the bathroom to clean my face; I opened the faucet and the water came running out from the tap. I filled my hands with water from the tap and as soon it was filled, I splashed it towards my face and it made me feel more awake, as the coldness of the water rushed to my nerves.

I did it one more time and used the soap from the sink to clean my face.

After that, I went straight to the shower to clean myself, the whole time the only thing that is running on my mind, is to answer the mystery that my heart has given me and I know... I know... that I should not bother myself with this.

But I cannot avoid it, I am still here stuck with it, inside my mind. I need to get rid of it, so on the meeting later I can focus, dad also said that he will announce something during the meeting.

Moments later I am done with my shower and dried myself with a towel, and cleaned my teeth, then chose my wear for the day. Just a normal plain green shirt and a jean, I mean dad did not require us to wear formally during the meeting and it is up to us.

I am very much comfortable with these clothes than those hot formal wears.

I looked at myself in the mirror and I fixed my hair when I noticed that there is some slight off feeling to it.

“I am ready,” I told myself and I went straight to my table where the card is resting, and grabbed it and my other things that I will be needing. Now that all is prepared, all left for me to do right now is go to the meeting room.

I walked towards the hallway as our men, greeted me on the way, and it did not take me long to reach the meeting room, and this time I am early, as I saw John, Kuro, Kuro’s dad, Nab, and my father on the table and it seems like that the other VIP are not here yet.

“Good morning,” I greeted them.

“Top of the morning,” I am shocked when I heard a voice behind my back and to my surprise, I saw Enzo, behind me, with his long green hair, and mischievous smile, I remember him but not pretty well because of his absence on multiple meetings.

This is the only time that I saw him, and as the story goes, he is the weapons expert inside our organization, and rumor has it that Enzo, will not come out as long as it does not concern him, because they said that he devoted himself to his creations.

Tweaking current weapons, creating new ones, or studying them, that is what he does. I know pretty well, that he is the one that tweaked my rifle to avoid triggering my trauma.

Honestly, I did not think that he really exists, until right now.

He has accent in his voice and it seems like that he is foreign, Irish maybe. I am not sure, because everything about this person is unknown towards us, but as long as he does his job great, dad does not care about his decisions in life.

Maybe he showed up right now, because of the new advance weapons that arrived during the shipment. As for me, I didn’t saw a glimpse, even an inch to the weapons, even I am the one that defended it against the Smiths.

Speaking of the Smiths the chopper escaped, thanks to the crane that someone moved to block my vision to let them escape and I wonder who was it.

I did great that time, despite of us losing hundreds of men, because they are skilled, but what frustrates me when I think about it, is the fact that the berserker managed to avoid all the bullets that I fired at her. Can she sense danger or the lady of luck is just with her side? No matter, the next time we meet, I will be sure to land a bullet on her head.

Frantically speaking, I did not care enough towards her because every time we meet in the battlefield, John or Kuro fend her off away from me because my task is to assassinate or to provide cover fire for my allies.

Yet, every time she manages to find my hiding spot, even the place that I am sniping on is the most far and secluded part of the area.

Not until, she chased me and triggering my trauma, I did not expect that she can go that far. I mean, chasing a high-speed car with just her running. She has incredible stamina and speed, and that made me worried that not every time, John cannot defend me from that woman. That’s why I dedicated myself training under Nab’s guidance.

So far, I am learning so much moves, and training regime that destroys my body. But still, I am not ready for that part. The blood thing, overcoming my trauma.

I told Nab that I am not still ready and requested to strengthen my body first and expand my knowledge about fighting because this way I can manage to prepare my mind from the inevitable.

Why did I say that it was inevitable?

Because I am decided that I will overcome my trauma once and for all, and not forever in my life, I will hide and cower in fear from the past that still haunts me to this day.

After defending the shipment from the Smiths, the next day, I went straight to Nab’s gym to tell him that I will continue my training, with his other personalities. Despite the mission, is already done and there is no need for me to go on, I already thought about my future, and this is not the only time that I will be in the same battle field as the berserker.

Well, at first, I am hesitant but as time passes by and my body slowly adapts to the harsh training that Nab has put me through, I endured, because this is a steep mountain for me to climb and I plan to climb it until the I reach the very top and I don’t have any plans on stopping.

I will persevere.

Now the berserker has proved herself to me, to be called as my rival, I will match her and defeat her once and for all.

I am not certain if she is ordered to hunt me down until the very end of the world or it is her decision to chase me down with her partner. Either way, the next time we meet I will be prepared for her.

Between us, I can say that we are even right now, because of what I did to her friends and how injured she is that time.

I closed my eyes to calm myself from these thoughts and I clenched my fist and punched my palm to feel how strong I became and will be stronger than ever.

I will not be called “just a sniper” again, because I will become a warrior that will fight her in a fair fight.

I opened my eyes again and saw the other people enter the room one by one, dad is just patiently watching them taking their seats. He is observing all of us right now, dad is a great observant and even his eyes are not focused on you, don’t assume that you are safe from his gaze because there is no escape.

That is why I should try my best not to get his attention, and behave as much as I can. Moments later all of the people that will attend the meeting is already here, and dad stood up and greeted everyone.

“We shall start the meeting,” he said.
