Chapter 73

“Hey Rei!” John called to me as I am busy looking at my phone waiting for someone to reply. I need to be honest with myself and I feel embarrassed towards her right now. Lyn, the one that I went against the tournament in the battle for the card, and the one that I became close with virtually in just a short time.

The weird good feeling that she is giving me, that I cannot understand but I like it for some reason. I like it to feel that way, but I don’t know what this feeling is called.

Once she goes online, I don’t know what to say to her anymore, she might think that I am weird but it’s been weeks since I did not get any reply from her. She said, that she will be gone for only a week, but it’s almost three weeks right now.

It might be that she ignored me because she thinks that I am weird, I feel dejected right now, and feel down, so down because, I want her to respond with my messages.

I was shocked and jumped slightly when a hand just touched my shoulder, I almost punched... John’s... face...

“What do you want?” I asked him and he looks more surprised than I am.

“I am calling to you for so many times now, I am astonished that you cannot hear me despite of me being so near to you,” he told me, and I feel slightly surprised when I heard that. “What are you looking at your phone by the way?” he asked me.

“Nothing,” I said, and I regret that I said that to him as he immediately looks doubtful towards me.

“Really?” he asked suspiciously. “It’s very rare for you to look at your phone like that... waiting for something,” he added and I felt so very nervous right now, as he is saying that.

“Is it bad if I look at my phone sometimes?” I asked him trying to escape this corner that he pushed me through and it seems like that he does not intend to let me go. “Besides I am a tech guy, is it really a big of a deal?” I asked him again.

“Nothing...” he said with a very suspicious tone. “Maybe you are waiting for a message of someone?” he guessed, and for a first time, he guessed that right and I am starting to feel my sweat.

“Oh,” I said.

“My boy, Rei, interested to someone right now,” he said and he wrap his arm around my shoulder and I pushed him away.

“No, I am not interested to someone,” I denied.

“Playing defensive now huh?” he asked. “You are really ignorant about the world that we walk on right now,” he said. “There are still so many things that you cannot fathom,” he added and I am now puzzled with his words.

“What are you saying?” I asked him.

“Playing ignorant this time?” he asked me. “You know Rei,” he said with a smirk on his voice. “Just admit it, we are ready to help you. Especially Kuro, he knows a lot of things about girls,” he added.

I gave him a very confused look.

“What?! There are no girls that I am interested to right now,” I defended myself.

“Kuro!” he shouted.

“What?!” and like magic Kuro responded almost as immediately and I can hear him running towards us right now. 

“There is something that Rei wants to tell us,” he said and in just a blink of an eye, I saw Kuro besides John right now. I shook my head as I cannot believe that these guys in front of me are wizards when it comes to my personal life. They beat the paparazzies that are following celebrities, trying to ruin their lives by stalking them, breaking their privacy.

“Ohhh... seems intriguing,” he said and now he is wearing the same suspicious smirk that John is wearing.

I face palmed and shakes my head again, as I don’t want this to go on for forever.

“Our little boy Rei here, is interested to a girl,” John said it as sassy as he can. I really can’t understand John’s personality because there are times that I cannot imagine that he is like this sometimes too.

“HUWAAT!?” Kuro overreacted to what John said, and I want to be buried under the ground right now because of the amount of embarrassment that I am feeling right now. “Am I hearing that right?” he said with his famous childish tone when it comes to teasing me.

“Yes,” then John mimicked him, if I can see my face right now, I will be dying because of so much cringe. This is why, I always look at my phone inside my room, so I can avoid this embarrassing situation.

“You must be shitting on me right now,” he exclaimed as if he is very surprised to hear that. “Our boi Rei, have a girlfriend, we must tell the boss he will throw another party, tomorrow,” he said. Oh, dad wanted to celebrate our victory over the Smiths.

And it just happened now because of some business that we need to attend to and to store that weapons that they failed to destroy. My GRX 9090 stays with me for a couple of weeks because the machine that needs it is under maintenance because of the explosion that man caused.

The death of their two greatest men is a victory to us despite of how many men that died that day, they are famous for being so powerful and bringing them down is worth celebrating and also there is something that we can use against, the Smiths.

They shall know, how the dragon’s claw, is ruthless towards their enemies. This trick up our sleeves will surely bring us victory towards our next war and it is up to them whether they bite the bait or not.

“Boss!” I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Kuro’s loud voice and I saw them both running away from me. I wanted to stop them but deep inside I am very thankful that they are gone now, because I can be at peace now.

*DING!*

I put up my phone almost as immediately I unlocked it to check the notification that I just received and inside my mind I am hoping that this notification came from her.

My eyes widened and my heart was filled with joy when I saw a message from Lyn, and I typed a reply from her as quick as I can. This helped me to reduce my anxiety as I learn from her that they are delayed because something bad happens to them while they are on their trip.

I am thankful to learn that she is not weirded out by me, and thought of something weird about me. Like I act different, like that. But I am wondering where did they go, that she cannot use internet on her phone to not open her social media accounts.

Well, people like me that can live without our phones for even a year still exists. Maybe she is like that too, and she wanted to spend most of her quality time with her parents and I respect that. Then I put my shame aside and told her that I wanted to play with her, now I will leave it to god.

Please...

Then a notification bell just sounded and I checked it immediately... when I read it... I wanted to celebrate in joy right now... jumping happily for no reason. WHOOO! I told her to wait for me as I need to celebrate this for a moment and told her to wait for me.

She then said that she will wait for me so we can play and I put my phone inside my pocket and I started to run towards the party and just even for a brief moment, I can celebrate this big victory that I have achieved in my life. This is really worth celebrating.

“Young master,” the others greeted me and I happily greeted them back.

I grabbed glasses of wine and grabbed sushis to celebrate on my own. I shoved it all inside my mouth and drinks the glass of wine as fast as I can and once as I am done, I left the party running as I am rushing towards my room to open my computer.

“Son!” I heard father called to me, and my world froze as I realize that those two idiots ran away to tell dad some lies. I turned around slowly, and when I saw the two beside him smiling like crazy my world slightly fell apart, if not for her reply, my world will completely fall apart right now.

“Dad, hehe,” I answered him back awkwardly, not now dad, I need to attend something fast right now. “What’s up!?” I asked him, and it became awkward the most when I saw him smiling.

“Are they telling the truth?” he asked me.

“What truth dad?” I asked him nervously. Don’t tell me that they really told dad those lies.

Life, giving me good times and bad times at the very same moment, what a classic.

“You have a girlfriend, they say,” he mentioned. What did I expect? Obviously, they will tell dad that nonsense. I need to go to my room right now.

“No dad,” I answered him immediately. “That’s not true they are just drunk, now if you may excuse me, I need to attend something,” I told him and I dashed towards my room right now, leaving them behind.
