Chapter 74

After I escaped that grim fate that I went through because of my friends and my dad joined in too, I finally reached my room and went straight to my pc to turn it on. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and unlocked it to message her that to wait just for a couple of seconds more.

“Hey I am sorry about the wait,” I told her once I connected with her in a call after my pc opened.

“Don’t worry, I have something to pass the time so I won’t get bored,” Lyn replied to me.

“So, Lyn,” I uttered.

“Hmm?” she responded.

“About the bombardment of my messages to your inbox,” I mentioned about the issue that I am worried about early on since she went online. “I apologize f- for that,” I stuttered because I am very nervous right now opening up this issue. “It’s just, uhmmm, just w-,” I cut off my voice fearing that I might say the wrong word that will lead to her getting the wrong idea. “Just wanted to play with someone hehe,” I told her my excuse.

“Oh, that,” she exclaimed and laughs. “Don’t worry about it,” she assures me. “But the great Anonymous?” she declared. “Running out of someone to play with? Impossible,” she yelled and I wonder if she is disturbing someone in her room right now. I laughed awkwardly with what she said.

“It’s not that simple,” I told her. “My friends here do not have the same hobby as I do,” I added.

“Oh, is that so? Don’t you have any online friends to play with?” she asked.

“Well, I don’t play with strangers that often, I enjoy playing with people that I knew,” I answered.

“Then I am one of those lucky strangers that get to play with you?” she asked again, and then my heart drops on the floor as I realized that I had the poorest choice of words that I told her. Oh sheesh!

“Y- you c- can say it that way,” I responded but I stuttered more often because of the nervousness that I felt.

“Are you anxious?” she asked me and she might notice about my stuttering.

“OH NO!” I exclaimed then followed it up with a laugh. “Uhm I am just... choked on the food that I am eating right now,” I excused hiding the fact that I am really anxious.

“That’s why you don’t talk while there is food inside your mouth,” she told me.

“Yes, I will not forget that,” I replied back.

“Finish your food first before we play,” she demanded.

“Okay, will be a back in a bit,” I replied back. I put down my headphones and I rushed towards our bathroom, as I am very anxious about our whole interaction right now, maybe I just need to awaken myself a little bit. I went straight to the sink and opened the faucet. Almost immediately that water came out rushing. I used both of my hands to catch some water and I lowered my head and splashed it onto my face.

The coldness of the water awakened me, and I feel a bit refreshed, I did it two more times to make sure that my spirit is totally awake. After that I looked into the mirror, only facing myself in the mirror. I looked to myself and observed myself.

Okay, Rei... you are dubbed as the Shinigami in the syndicate world yet here you are afraid of one girl. Be brave, there is no harm in trying to talk to her, right? I am not sure, but I will.

After talking to myself, I gathered my composure and went straight to the towel to dry my face drenched in water. I wiped it on my face, and after that I went back to my computer and put my headphones on.

“Hey,” I called to Lyn. “Done eating,” I informed her.

“That’s great, what’s the ruckus that I heard earlier, you alright?” she asked, then my world fell apart once again, when I saw that my noise cancellation is not properly turned on. The composure that I gathered fell apart once again, and here I am extremely anxious towards her again.

“It’s nothing, just my dog running around,” I told her lies. This time I turned on my noise cancellation feature to make sure that she will only hear the voice that comes us to my mouth, I don’t want her hearing strange things inside my room.

“So umm, you ready to play?” I asked her trying to shift away the topic of our conversation.

“Yeah, let’s go,” she answered me.

“Great,” I replied back. “So, what game you want to play?” I asked her and for a while she became quiet, maybe thinking of game she wants to play right now. I gave her the privilege to choose the game.

“I think I want to play a chill game,” she spoke. “Oh, I know maybe an open world rpg (role-playing game) game,” she stated, oh that’s a chill game, no heavy competition between the player’s community, but there are too many open world rpg games that exists right now and most of them are great.

“What game to be exact?” I asked her again.

“Oh, Oasis Metanoia,” she stated, oh that’s a great game, also there is something that I want to try in that game for a long time but I can’t find myself any time for it because if not distracted by any games that I like more, there is some important gathering inside the organization.

“Great choice,” I told her. “I have that game installed in my pc too,” I stated and double clicked the game to open and it quickly pops up the launcher and I pressed the play button and waited for the game to completely load.

“Let’s go!” she exclaimed and I am glad that she sounded happy with her choice. That calmed me a bit because I know that she will forget it for a moment while wile we play.

The game loaded and I am surprised on how high my level is in this game and I chose the assassin class and had the most expensive skin that can be bought in game and a powerful weapon. The only flaw in this game, is the fact that it is a pay to win game, there is no denying that, people that are only playing the game for free are at a great disadvantage when it comes to PVP (Player vs Player) arena, but the developers managed to cover that flaw by putting the adventure aspect in the game. That’s why there are so many players that’s been hooked in this game despite the fact they need to pay to access the premium stuffs offered.

The game opened completely.

“What’s your ign (in game name)?” I asked her, so I can add her in the game to my friends list and to locate her more quickly when we are inside the game. Unlike the other games, we are spawned in the place where we left it off, and if I am unfortunate enough. I will need to travel great distance to reach her.

“It’s pixieZ #4032,” she told me her ign and player tag and almost immediately I searched for her player profile. When I found it, I clicked the add button immediately.

“Done.” I announced to her. 

“I see it,” she told me and I saw in my notification that pixieZ accepted my friend request, my ign in this game is Blood Hunter, well befitting my class as an assassin that consists of killings, also I saw her in her profile that her class is a mage.

I remembered that during in the competition, she also used a mage class hero, and she is pretty skilled with its skill set and the mana conservation.

I clicked the “enter world” button and immediately I spawned in shadow island where the main tavern of the assassins is built.

I double clicked her profile once again, so her avatar can be highlighted in my map and unfortunately for me. I saw that she is way back in the main island in the town of La Luna, a town in the middle of a blue magical lake.

“Hey, let’s meet half way,” I told her.

“Yeah, I saw that you are very far from me too,” she told me. “Let’s meet in the town of Sol,” she said and I recognize that town as it is the town that exists in the middle of a desert.

“Okay, let’s meet there,” I told her and I started running but before I did that, I opened my mini map and double clicked the town in my map, so I know where direction I will go. When all is well, I started rushing towards the town that we agreed to meet up again, but I need to cross these dangerous waters to reach the main island of this game.

I have no choice but to jump right into the ocean, and there the Crab sharks, attacked me immediately as they are prevalent in this area. They are shark like creatures like in real life but the twist is they have crab claws in their side that they use to grab on their prey.

I drew out my daggers which is the weapon required for the assassins and started attacking the sharks in the water, unlike in land my movement are slowed but my damage stats, made it easy for me to eradicate them all, and I started swimming towards the shore and when I reached that I started running towards the town of Sol again.
