I dont know How long I lay by the lake until I fall asleep. All I know is I wake up to the most beautiful view I have ever seen. The sunrise over the lake just takes my breath away, I just lay my head on my paws and watch it. It isnt maybe 15 minutes later that I hear footsteps walking through the woods, I know who it is instantly. once his scent hits me and I sign. Im not quite ready to speak to him but I guess now is as good of a time as any. “Jackson You can leave now, my mate and I need to speak.” Ryland says to Jackson but before he leaves he looks to me. I nod and he bows his head then trots off. “Here I brought you some clothes.” He holds out the clothes and I grab them in my mouth then go into the woods to change. “Thanks.” I say as im walking back out into the clearing. “Youre welcome. Look I want to say im sorry. But you shouldnt have acted how you did, or said what you said…” He trails off and I can feel my temper rise at his words. “ I shouldnt have said what I said?! Ryland, since I got here ive had to KILL one of your little flings, and how you get home from a...from a….oh whatever the hell you was doing, and I had to watch ANOTHER girl run to greet you and welcome you home!” I half yell at him, all hopes of keeping my temper down going out the window. “You cant just assume everything! And im your alpha, you have no right to question me!” He replies to me and I see his wolf flash in his eyes and mine instantly rises to the challenge. “My alpha? I think not!” I start laughing. “WE..” I say waving my hand between the two of us. “Are equals. You are my mate but even if we wasnt im a alpha also, a alpha who gave you a run for your money I might add. If you wont treat me with the respect I deserve I will not be sticking around for the ashit show you call a pack!” I shoot back at him and I instantly see the fight leave his eyes and I know ive hit a nerve. “Lilly listen I didnt mean it like that.” “I know how you meant it Ryland, Ive learned a lot about you since youve been gone.” I say and see a long to sit on and walk over to sit on it. “Goddess Lilly this isnt how I wanted this talk to go.” he says and runs a hand through his hair. “Look I get you have a past but this past shouldnt interfere with our future, and twice now it has. I ran your pack I did my duties and you know what im greeted with? Another women greeting you home and you know what else?! You greeting her back! Im not stupid Ryland, she wasnt just a fling whatever you had with her, I could see it in her eyes and yours.” As im saying this my heart hurts. Not for the amount of women Rylands been with but for the lack of feeling im feeling for him. Am I hurt? Yes but not like I feel I should be. I always thought the mate bond was suppose to be strong and i just dont feel much but a slight pull towards him. I watch as he runs his hands through his hair which im realizing now is a nervous trait of his. “Lil, I know I should have explained things to you more but I didnt and thats my fault, so let me explain. Her and her mate left the pack and moved to one in the east, the lakewood pack. When Ambers mate died she requested a transfer back to my pack and I granted it. We didnt have a relationship once she came back because i know how hard it can be to lose a mate ive seen other wolves die because of it, but I did give her attention. She must have heard about you and wanted to cause problems but I promise you ive gotten it taken care of. Lil Im loyal to you and I always will be.” I just sit and listen to him and try and figure out if I believe all he has to say. “Ryland I just feel ive lost your trust, and that will take some time to earn back..” I start to say but he cuts me off. “Ill do whatever I have to do LIlly, we WILL make this work.” Before I can even reply he is over grabbing my hands and kissing them. “Come on lets go home.” He says then starts dragging me back to the pack house.
