Chapter Ten

I couldn’t believe it, she walked away from me after I tried to tell her the truth. I mean I was going to wait till her birthday but after she came down in her training clothes and how I saw the male wolves react from seeing her, I knew I would have to tell her earlier than what I had planned. I got her dad to call her over and I knew that all of the pack were talking about her since I told them she was my mate. I could see that she was getting uncomfortable from all the whispering and glances she was getting, that’s why I suggested going somewhere else to let her train. When I grabbed her hand the sparks and tingles flew all the way through me. I hoped she would’ve felt something even if it was a little bit. When we got to a clearing in the woods and I stopped. She must’ve not realised that I had stopped as I felt her crash into the back of me. “You need to tell her,” Rowan growled as he was getting impatient not having his mate with him. “We will but it needs to be the right time, Rowan,” I grumbled back as Alex walked around to face me. She had asked why we were leaving the training grounds while we were walking. I have to admit when you meet your mate and she’s as hot as she is I got jealous of the unmated wolves looking at her. When she said that her mate could’ve been there I almost lost my control of Rowan as he wanted to tell her then and there that we were her mates. “TELL HER!” Rowan shouted in my head and was trying to take over. She must’ve noticed that my eyes had changed colour when she looked at me. “I can’t, I don’t want her to think that we would lie to her,” I said trying to regain my control. “You have to tell her before she decides that someone else is her mate,” Rowan said before he blocked me. I stood there and before I knew it, my mouth said the thing that got her angry. I watched her back stiffen when I said that her mate wasn’t any of them. She had heard the growl and stepped back before she said anything else. I wanted her to understand but I couldn’t find the right words except for “trust me.” I knew she was getting angrier but I was still struggling within myself and how to tell her. “Ethan? You can not say something like that to one of your pack members,” she had whispered with her hand on my arm. I don’t know when she placed her hand on my arm but it calmed me down, but I still couldn’t be man enough to tell her. I straightened and covered her hand with mine before I told her I was certain that her mate wasn’t there. I wanted to prove to her and get on my knees and tell her everything about us being mates. I couldn’t bring myself to do it as no Alpha kneeled to anyone. “But she’s our mate. Our mate!” Rowan said before blocking me again. She exploded at me and I got an insight into what she was feeling. She was saying she was feeling like she was an outcast, well not in that many words. She felt that everyone was keeping secrets about her. If only she knew. I had to do something and the only thing I could do was pull her into my arms and hold her and try to calm her down. I felt her calm down a little before she was trying to get out of my grasp. I tightened my grip as I didn’t want to let her go. I whimpered when she finally got free of my arms. I missed her already and her warmth. She started walking away and I had to tell her something. I grabbed her arm and had to tell her how important she was to me. I held her face with my hand and I had just noticed that she was crying and I knew that I had caused her tears. I don’t think she believed me tho as she just looked at me when I was telling her how she meant everything to me. She got out of my grasp again and asked me why I couldn’t tell her the truth? I just stood there with my mouth opening and closing. She took my silence as her answer before she started walking away from me again. “ALEX! WAIT,” I shouted starting to panic that I had lost her. She had heard me but kept walking and not looking back. “PLEASE WAIT.” I started to run after her but she kept walking faster till she was running. I sped up but she must’ve guessed that as she started to move faster. She ran out of the woods and past through the pack that was training. She didn’t stop. I came out of the woods and saw everyone watching her back as she kept running. “Well it looks like you were wrong about her being your mate but I forgive you,” Venus said coming up to me smiling and tried wrapping her arms around my waist. “Don’t touch me, Venus,” I growled throwing her arms off of me. “Baby, you know I’m much more suited for you than that,” Venus smirked before she walked away laughing to her friends. I saw Sebastian walking up to me looking extremely peeved about seeing his daughter run away like that. I started walking the way Alex had went when Sebastian stood in my way. I growled but he stood his ground with his arms folded over his chest. I did not need this I needed to go to my mate and make this right. “What did you do to my daughter, Alpha?” he asked me staring me down. “I couldn’t tell her the truth, she wanted to know why everyone was whispering and looking at her funny,” I shouted making sure everyone heard me. I looked around and saw everyone bow their heads in shame, except Venus who was smiling. “If you want to gossip about me or my mate then there will be a meeting here tonight and all of you will have your chance to say it there,” I shouted in my Alpha voice. I turned back to Sebastian and saw him still standing there with his arms folded. Most of the pack members that were there had started leaving quickly as they had to get ready for the school day or their jobs. I knew that I wouldn’t be going to school today and I mind linked the headmaster at my school, he was part of my pack, letting him know that I wouldn’t be there and neither would Alex. I was following Alex’s scent which led to her home. I burst through the front door and scared her mum who was in the kitchen. “Sir, I need to find your daughter and tell her the truth as I was a coward back there and I need her to be with me,” I whisper quietly enough that only he heard. “Alpha, she is confused and angry at the moment. But if anyone, including you, hurts my baby girl I will knock them out,” Sebastian said unfolding his arms and taking a step towards me. “I will never hurt her but I need to go and fix this,” I said again as I started walking away. Sebastian nodded his head and went back to what he was doing. “First, you better have a shower, my boy,” he shouted at my retreating back. I groaned as I needed to go to Alex. I started running towards my house and ignored everyone that tried talking to me. I ran up to my room and stripped as I jumped into the shower. I scrubbed myself quickly. I wrapped a towel around my waist as I ran into my closet and grab a pair of light blue jeans and a black hooded top that showed off my muscles. I ran my hands through my wet hair and ran out of my room and the house and kept running till I got to Alex’s house. I burst through the door and scared her mother who was in the kitchen. “Alpha, you scared me there,” She gasped holding her hand over her heart trying to calm down. “What do we owe the pleasure? Alex is upstairs getting ready for school.” “I need to speak to Alex, Mrs Bates,” I said standing there not knowing what my next move would be. “I’m sorry if I gave you a scare.” “Oh, that’s alright, what happened at training? She came in and ran right upstairs,” Linda mused as she stood staring at me. “By the way call me Linda.” I smiled then I heard a door shut upstairs and saw Alex coming down the stairs. She looked broken and lost in her thoughts. I breathed in her scent as it surrounded me. I saw that she had showered and she was wearing a pair of black skinny jeans with a hoodie on hiding that beautiful body of hers. I held my breath as she got to the bottom of the stairs and was currently making sure she had everything in her backpack. “Mum, that’s me ready to go. Can I borrow the car please?” She said still not looking up. “Honey, of course, you can,” her mum came out of the kitchen and dangling her keys. “Honey, it looks like you have a visitor.” Alex finally looked up and stiffened when she saw me standing there. “What do you want?” she asked looking right at me. “Are you here to tell me more rubbish? If you are I’m not interested. Now, excuse me I’m going to be late for school.” She walked towards her mum and smiled before she took the keys her mother was still holding up. “Thanks, mum. Love you, see you afterwards.” “Bye, baby. Have a good day. Love you more,” Linda shouted after her as Alex went out the front door. “Alpha, if you’re going to make my baby happy, now would be a good time before she gets even more mad at you,” Linda said guiding me out of the house. “She needs to know that she’s not just special with us, she needs to know it from you as well.” I stood there processing this information and walked towards to where Alex was trying to get the key into the door. “Alex?” I say knowing that she was hurting. “We need to talk.” “Do we really? Didn’t we talk enough earlier?” she said spinning around to face me. “I’m done with talking. Actions speak louder than words anyway.” “Tell mate we need her and she’s special and that we love her,” Rowan said encouraging me in my head. “If you won’t I will.” “We need to be careful as she’s peeved at us this now,” I snap back. Alex dropped her keys and I noticed that her hands were shaking when she bent down to pick them up I noticed that she tried to wipe the tears away. I walked up to her and picked the keys up for her and handed them to her. She was looking down and playing with the keys before she looks up at me. I saw that she was trying to work out why I was there. “What do you want? Alpha,” she whispered. “Why are you here?” “I’m here to make this right, Alex,” I whisper getting closer to her. She catches her breath as she noticed me getting closer. She looks up at me with fresh tears in her eyes and I couldn’t take it anymore. I grabbed her face, gently I may add, and crashed my lips onto hers. I don’t know why I did that as I was sure she would push me off of her. I felt her stiffen but then she relaxed and slowly brought her arms up to my arms. She kept them on my arms so I ran my tongue along her bottom lip and she was refusing me entry. I gently bit her lip making her gasp and I shoved my tongue into her mouth. I fought with her tongue for dominance and of course, I won. I grinned as I moved my hands and wound them around her waist. We broke apart needing air and I rested my head on her head. I felt Rowan celebrating in my head and I smiled. It was short-lived tho as she realised what had happened and pushed me away from her. “Why did you do that? You have a mate here and she will know that you kissed me,” She said before she brought her hand up and slapped me. “My mate will understand when she realises that we are mates,” I quietly say holding my cheek. It stung I have to admit to myself. “By the way, I came over here to tell you everything.” “Then tell me then, or so help me I will never give you the time of day again,” she yelled before she opened her car door. “I will tell you as long as you don’t slap me again,” I said calmly. “By the way, we’re excused from school for today so I can tell you.” “How dare you! You can’t decide if I am having a day off or not,” She looked so cute when she was angry. She slammed the door and crossed her arms across her chest. I smiled and with my speed I had he pinned to the car with my body. She was screaming to let her go but I held her tight. I was getting annoyed so I put my face into the side of her neck and breathed in her scent calming me and my wolf down. She stiffened again but let me do it. “Ethan, I need to know why you aren’t worried about your mate? I want to know why you kissed me? Please tell me,” she whispered. “The truth baby is that I’m not worried about my mate knowing that I kissed you is that she’s right here,” I whisper into her ear. “I kissed you because I have wanted to kiss you since I saw you get out of the car when you moved here.” “What do you mean?” she asked me pulling her head away. “It’s you, Alexandra, always has been and always will be,” I said looking at her. “I have known since we first met but I wanted to wait till you found out on your birthday but after what happened earlier I needed to tell you before then. You’re my mate.” I moved in to kiss her again but she put her hand over my mouth and looked confused. I moved her away from the car but still held her in my arms. “What?” she asked as she moved away from me and trying to understand what she just heard. “We are mates Alex,” before I could say anything else my Beta mind linked me. “What is it? Now is not a good time,” I demanded. “Alpha we have intruders on the north boundary,” Zack reported. “OK, get some of the warriors and go and deal with the problem, I will meet you there,” I closed the link before turning around to Alex. “ We haven’t finished, but rogues have been spotted. I need to go but this isn’t over, baby.” I kiss her head before I turn and start running towards the northern border. I wasn’t finished with Alex as she still needs to know everything. I howl letting my Beta know I was getting closer to their location.
