Chapter Nine

I wasn’t usually a morning person but today was an exciting day for me and the others who were going to start their training with the Golden Moon pack. I was always training with my dad when I got home from school and I was proud that I was able to beat my dad a couple of times. He wouldn’t give up until I had perfected a certain move and would make me practice it over and over until I got it right. We mostly trained in our human forms and it was only a couple of times I got to train with me wolf since I got Paige. “Alex, you up yet?” my dad shouted at the other side of my bedroom door. “ I could easily get the cold water again if you’re not up.” “I’m up, I’m up dad jeez,” I shouted back and jumping out of my bed. I did not want to get a bucket of cold water thrown over me. I shivered when the memory of when I was being stubborn one morning and didn’t want to go to school that day. Both my mum and dad had been shouting for me to get up and get ready, but I was snuggled to nicely in my bed to get up. I had fallen back asleep when I suddenly felt a freezing sensation all over my body and my bed. I had tried to jump out of my bed but I got tangled in my sheets and ended up on the floor a soaking mess. I eventually looked as to where the coldness was coming from and I saw my dad standing at the end of my bed holding an empty bucket. He was laughing so hard and I just sat there shivering and soaked. I bolted to my bathroom as I did not want history to repeat itself again. I scrubbed my teeth after the usual things you do in the bathroom. I stripped off my jammies as I climbed into the shower to get washed and to wash my hair. After I had washed my hair I wrapped a towel around me as I went and into my closet and pulled out my black Lycra training shorts and my training bra and shoved them on. I was excited about the training and learning new things but then I was nervous as today was the first day at the new school as well. I ran down the stairs and into the kitchen and stopped dead. Ethan was sitting at my kitchen table with my mum and dad sitting across from him. I couldn’t believe it as he was laughing as my dad retold the bucket story to him. I hid my face in my face and felt the redness of my cheeks. Plus I hadn’t seen him since that morning after the party. They stopped talking or laughing in Ethan’s case when they finally noticed I was in the room. I heard a growl come from the Alpha as he looked at my outfit as I felt his eyes glance over my legs and at my bare stomach and finally getting to my face. “I’m sorry I’m late, but dad seriously the bucket story?” I groaned as I walked over to the fridge and grabbing the milk. I then walked over and got a bowl and the cereal and proceeded to pour myself a bowl. I kept my head down as I didn’t want to see Ethan staring at me and I was already embarrassed to the heavens. I turned around and leant against the counter as I ate my cereal and not making eye contact with anyone. “Alex. Alpha Ethan was just saying that they are going to start the training in 5 minutes at the training fields so you better hurry,” my dad said standing up and coming over to the sink. “OK, dad I’ll just finish this and get going,” I said quickly as I finished eating and putting my bowl in the sink and running out the door. I had to get out of the house and as I ran I suddenly remembered that I wasn’t sure where the training fields were. I stopped running and facepalmed my head as I realised that when I was exploring the land I hadn’t noticed any fields. I groaned when I suddenly realised I would have to go back home and ask the Alpha where they are. “He’s going to think your crazy,” Paige laughed. “Of course, what i***t runs out of the house and not realise they don’t know where they are going, just because they were embarrassed,” I mused back as I walked back towards to my house. As I got closer to my home I noticed my dad and the Alpha standing at the door with their arms crossed over their muscular chests. I stopped and started to shuffle my feet and twisted my hands and stole glances at them. My dad was a handsome guy and he had kept himself in shape. Ethan, on the other hand, had my stomach do backflips when I looked at him and saw what he was wearing. He was wearing a white v neck t-shirt which clung tightly to every inch of his torso showing off all those muscles underneath it. I then let my eyes wander to his bottom half and saw him wear baggy sweatpants that hung dangerously low. I gulped before looking straight at them. “ I’m sorry, Alpha and dad, but can you show me where the training fields please?” I grumble quietly but knew with their werewolf hearing they heard me. They both looked and me and both of them had a smug look on each of their faces. If I were closer I would’ve hit both of them no matter who they were. Ethan was the first to move down the stairs and head in my direction. My dad started walking behind him with the smug look still on his face. “Baby, you ran out without these,” my dad said holding my trainers out to me. I gulped as I looked down at my feet and I was only wearing my socks. I groaned and wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole. I grudgingly took my trainers and almost lost my balance putting them on. As I was certain that I was going to meet the ground I felt arms reach out and grab me around the waist. I instantly felt safe and when I looked to see who caught me my mouth went dry as I was once again the Alpha’s arms. He had a smirk on that gorgeous face of his and yet again I couldn’t stop staring at him. “Maybe you should sit down before you put your trainers on in the future,” Ethan joked as he kept a hold of me until I finished putting my trainers on. When I straightened up and slipped from his hold I swear I heard a whimper. What is going on with him? The way he is acting it’s like he sees me as important. The thought flashed through my mind as I quickly looked away and pushed the thought to the back of my mind. “Alex, I swear that he knows something about you and he doesn’t want to tell you,” Paige thoughtfully said. “Come on, he was just being nice and looking out for a member of his pack. Plus I swear I feel different Round him but I can’t put my finger on it,” I argued back. “He is gorgeous tho.” I bite my lower lip as I saw that Ethan followed my tongue as it glided over my lip before he looked back to my eyes and capturing them again. We hear a small cough and we both look towards my dad. He was standing there looking very uncomfortable. “I am sorry for being late Alpha and for falling into you just now,” I state as I look back at the Alpha and slightly bow to show my respect. “Don’t bow Alex, I am not my father but I accept your apology. I was over to see if I could show where the training grounds were,” Ethan said smiling. “Why is he explaining to me?” I asked either my dad or Paige. My dad didn’t reply but started walking with Ethan away from where we were all standing. “I don’t know but now I’m certain there’s something going on,” Paige said determinedly. “We will keep our eyes and ears open and see what we can find out,” I mutter and ran to catch up with them. When we got to the training grounds I was impressed as they were huge. I spotted a lot of the pack already started their training. There were people fighting in their human forms and the rest were fighting in their wolf forms. I looked at Ethan and my dad and I couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear. I saw that Ethan was looking at me with a look of admiration and I felt my cheeks heating up. We stared at each other for a little while until I heard someone calling my name. “Alex, over here,” Faith was shouting and waving at me. I smiled at my dad and Ethan before running over to where she was standing with another girl. “Geez Faith, don’t need to shout so loud,” I moaned as I nudged her with my shoulder. I turned to the girl that was standing beside Faith. “Hi. I’m Alexandra but everyone calls me Alex.” The girl was looking at me shyly before her eyes went wide as she realised that I was talking to her. I took the time to study the girl that was staring at me. She had short red hair which looked like it was on fire. She had blue eyes and pale skin. She was on the small side and looked like she was 12. She quickly gathered her thoughts and reached her hand to shake my hand. “Hi sorry about that my name is Czarina Lynn. It’s so nice to meet you. Faith has said a lot about you,” she smiled which brightened up her whole face. “I hope it’s all good things,” I laugh as I shoot Faith a look. “Of course, why would any of it be bad? Plus I let Czarina know how much of a klutz you are,” Faith said throwing her arms around my neck. We were talking between the 3 of us when I heard my name getting mentioned. I turned to see where who was shouting on me and saw my dad looking my way. I quickly say bye to Faith and my new friend Czarina and jogged over to where my dad was standing. He was watching two young wolves fight and shouting out orders to them. I was standing watching my dad when I didn’t notice Ethan come and stand beside me. I tried to stop myself from glancing at him after what happened at my house. I was watching the two wolves my dad was training and saw people looking our way and talking amongst themselves. I was suddenly feeling very uncomfortable standing where I was. Ethan must’ve seen how uncomfortable I was because he grabbed my hand and started walking towards the forest behind the training fields. “Alpha, where are we going?” I asked as I kept looking back to where everyone was. “We’re going to train away from there as I saw that you were getting uncomfortable plus I didn’t like the way some of the unmated wolves were looking at you,” Ethan answered as he stopped, which made me go into his back. “Thanks but one of them could’ve been my mate for all we know. I won’t know till my birthday,” I whisper suddenly aware how close I was to him. “I will tell you this, Alex, none of them is your mate,” Ethan growled making me back up a little bit. I felt his body tense when he said that none of them was my mate. I was speechless as who was he to tell me who my mate was or wasn’t. I started to angry as he had no right to tell me that. I tried getting him to turn and face me by grabbing his arm. He just stood there and didn’t move so I walked around and glared into his face. I looked into his eyes and they were not his usual green colour. I realised that I was looking into his wolve’s eyes. I gasped and took a step back. “Ethan? You can not say something like that to one of your pack members,” I whisper as I look towards the ground. I was angry but I didn’t want to make him angrier than what he was. I could see he was trying to get his anger under control. I didn’t know what to do and my hand reached out and touched his arm. It seemed to calm him down which was something that confused me. “Alex, I know for a fact that none of them is your mate,” Ethan started saying covering her hand on his arm. “I know because…” “Seriously, if you know something that I don’t then it is your duty to tell me or am I that am unlucky and he doesn’t want me or want to wait till I’m 18?” I said yanking my hand away from him. I was shaking and trying to keep the tears that threatened to fall at bay. “Alex, it’s not that easy to tell you something that basically will change your life,” Ethan said trying to get my hand again. “I am asking you to trust me.” “I can’t trust people who keep things hidden from me, especially if it concerns my wellbeing. I mean since I’ve got here all I’ve done is…” I didn’t get to finish before I found myself pressed against his chest. “Alex, you are more important than what you think you are especially to me,” Ethan said as he kissed me hair. I tried to get out of his embrace. I finally managed to get some space between us and saw him fidget where he stood. He looked torn as he wanted to say something but something was stopping him. I stood staring taking deep breaths as I watched him. Ethan started pacing the ground as he talked to his wolf by the way he stopped and glanced at me before continuing. “Ethan I don’t want to be a worry for you, I am going home since you can’t let me know the secret. I feel that the whole pack knows something and I don’t,” I felt a tear roll down my cheek as I walk past him and head back the way we had come from. As I walked past Ethan he grabbed my arm and brought his other hand to cup my face. I couldn’t move as he pinned me to him. I looked up into his eyes and saw the conflict in his gorgeous green eyes. I know not a good time to be lost in those eyes. As I stared at him, he brushed my cheek that was wet from my tears with his thumb. “Alex?” Ethan whispered taking every inch of my face in with his look. “I’m sorry for not saying anything but you have changed everything since that day I met you. I should’ve been man enough to tell you the truth.” “Ethan why is it too hard to tell someone the truth? You asked me to trust you but even now you can’t me to share anything.” I said pushing myself away from him. I felt my wolf whimper when I pushed away. I felt left out and it hurt which was the worst part of everything. I couldn’t say anything else as I slowly started walking home again. I felt him watch me as I was walking away from him and heard him groan out of frustration. “ALEX! WAIT,” I kept walking even tho I wanted to hear what he was going to say. “PLEASE WAIT,” Ethan called after me. I kept walking feeling totally deflated. I started to walk faster eventually I started to run. I felt him run after me which made me run faster.
