Just An Innocent Run

Leila's P.O.V

I woke up early to get a quick run in, I only woke once last night which is a record but for some reason I felt like someone was in my room, I sensed that there was someone watching me, I should have felt scared but I didn't because I felt like I was being protected. I have relived that dreadful night that took everything from me, my family, my pack, my land and worse of all my dad. I shook my head to shake the memories and started to put my running clothes on. I opened my door and started to slowly walk pass mum's room when I heard her from downstairs, "If you think your running by yourself, you must have rocks in your head" she giggled from the door, smiled as i jogged downstairs, I should of known she'd be up waiting. She stood at the door with her long blonde hair tied in a high pony tail wearing a peach adidas jacket and pants, "Come on, Veluca reserve is only 10 minutes away." Mum held the door open as i put my ear phones in and pushed shuffle. We crossed the street and I still couldn't shake the feeling of someone watching us but I didn't care I felt safe. We continued through the forest, we didn't keep to the normal tracks or running paths, we preferred being in the actual forest surrounded by nature. It was hard to see mum running like this having to hold back, she was a warrior, a luna but due to the herbal remedies that Chief Red Hawk and his elders prepare for us, it makes our wolves more docile, we can only allow our wolves out when the power of the crescent moon allows us, which unfortunately only happens every four months for one night, everytime its time we go home to our lands to let our wolves be free. We still have our instincts that allow us to always be aware of our surroundings, which is why we weren't surprised to feel them following us. Mum gave a quick look and veered off in a different direction and I continued in my direction, I felt him before he even knew he lunged, before he could get my jacket, I ran a few steps up a tree before spinning to him and punching his face I smiled as i heard a crack and blood pouring out of his mouth, he yelped as I landed behind him ready to attack but suddenly I was surrounded by four more rogues WOW, do they really think they can take us Lei. Come on let me free, I'll take care of them. My wolf demanded even though she knew the remedies stopped me from shifting in other territories but she was strong and was able to take over my body long enough to protect me. I closed my eyes for a few seconds allowing her to come through when I opened them I knew my eye colour changed to a darker Emerald green, I looked at the rogues, I felt them confused and somewhat wary as to whether they should attack. I reached behind me and pulled a small baton, I held it in front of me, I shot a rogue a death stare as I felt her snigger at me, I pushed the button and the baton extended from both ends, with swords "Who wants to go first?" I asked in my defence stance, as they all lunged at me at once, I zoned out, my wolf took over and It felt good to feel her free. I flipped over all of them landing a few feet away watching them lunged into each other, I giggled which pissed off one who got his balance and ran towards me as he jumped i leant down and pushed him up with all my might and using my sword cut him from neck to stomach, I didn't even turn to see he was dead. I turned to the rest of the rogues and ran using one rogue as a step I jumped off him and stabbed one wolf getting my sword stuck in the tree, I pulled my sword out realising i had three in front and one behind as I attacked the three infront the one behind lunged towards me but another wolf a beautiful black and grey wolf appeared and landed on him tearing chunks of him, I ran up a tree and jumped but one of the wolves jumped and knocked me towards the tree I felt this excruciating pain in my head and wetness coming from the spot where it hurt What happened?? I asked as I heard familiar voices Got our asses kicked was the answer i got before i heard mum screaming out my name. I felt warmth and calming arms around me, the heat of his breath on me as it went black....

Lucian's P.O.V

I tossed in bed being frustrated, I couldn't sleep I kept thinking about her, her smell, her body, her lips and those eyes Emerald green. When Paul interrupted her, her eyes went a lighter green but sparkled. I wanted to take her in my arms there and then and if she was a werewolf I could of but she's human so I had to do it differently, more gentle. I got tired of being restless I decided to get up and get a water. Mum was sitting at the table when i went into the kitchen "Couldn't sleep son?" she asked not even looking at me, I smiled as i got my water "Nah, too much on my mind" I said as i sat down next to her "Yes, well, meeting your mate can sometimes make you think too much." she smiled and i could feel her warmth "Was it hard for dad?" I asked, see my dad is three years older than mum, when he turned 18 he knew as soon as he saw her but couldn't do anything because she was 15, in our pack if your mate is under the age you couldn't tell them or do anything romantic towards them so I am in the same dilemma Leila is not yet 18 but she is also human and even though she knows and understands werewolves, I can not make her mine, she must fall in love with me and choose to be with me before I can make her mine. Mum's eyes giggled "It was so hard for him, and I was quite difficult, your dad tried being my friend and I threw it back in his face, He kept trying to be near me, I didn't want a bar of the Alpha's son, I was only 15-" she was interrupted by the man himself, "Yes, she definately made me work for her love, then she turned 18 and I made sure I was there in front of her, then she realised She was mine and I was hers!!!" I watched as both my parents' eyes sparkled as they looked in each others' eyes, "Yes, but i still make you work for it, my love" I turned away as they kissed, mum handed me a file as her and dad left.

I opened the file and see a photo of Leila, damn she's gorgeus even though her photo doesn't represent her true beauty. I flicked through the file until I found her address, Maybe if i go and see her, I won't be restless I thought before closing the file and running up stairs to get changed. I quickly grab my blue and white trackpants and grey t shirt throwing them on before putting my running shoes on and rushing downstairs to find Paul standing there "Where are you going?" he asked blocking my way "I'm just going to see where she lives." I explain to him, I see he's battling an inward conflict to which he steps to the side and opens the door "Just don't do anything stupid Lucian, she may be your mate but she is also human, don't go scaring her with your wolfy self" he started laughing to himself as i shoved him and ran out the door, jumping in my S.U.V I started to feel warm and fuzzy knowing i would smell her. I finally pull down her street, there's no other houses down the street just hers at the end, I stop my car at the end of the street deciding to walk from here. There were no lights on so i go around to the back, the yard was quite big and had another building close to  the tree line, I climbed over the fence and landed on the grass. I looked around making sure no one was there before looking up at the balcony, I could smell her sweet enticing scent coming from the balcony, being a wolf getting up was easy so i giggled to myself as i quietly landed. I placed my hand on the sliding door She wouldn't be silly enough to leave this unlocked I thought as i slowly pulled it open, I was disappointed so was my wolf When she knows shes mine she will be us at home where I can keep her safe I agreed with him. I walked in disappointed to see she didn't have much realising her stuff arrives tomorrow, but I though her scent would be stronger than what i get, I'm not engulfed with her scent but I can see her lying there I sigh as instead of seeing my mate sleeping peacefully she's tossing and turning, I kneel down to wipe her hair away from her face but she was drenched in sweat and tears. I feel she's in pain i feel helpless i can't help her I want to take the pain away but i can't, I she's clutching a photo and as i pull it out of her hands, Her eyes open and I see her emerald green eyes before i could say anything she starts screaming. I fell over and heard her mum running down the hall way i quickly run out the door and jump the balcony, once i feel safe i stop and sit down leaning up against the other building under the covers of the trees. I can hear my mate sobbing Why do I have to re live it mum...I heard through her sobs We have to find out and protect her I heard my wolf and I nodded in agreement. I listened as her sobbing started to stop and her breathing became normal, I realised i had the photo in my hand so i pulled up for me to see, there was her my beautiful mate she was with 5 other girls who all shared similar features, half had Jet black hair the other half blonde, some had green eyes some had blue, their features were undeniable they were sisters. I kept staring that i didn't realise i had fallen asleep.....

I woke up when i heard a light came on, I looked up and saw Leila's light on Why is she up? I looked at my watch 05:00, I watched eagerly as i saw her silhouette move around then her light turned off. I quickly jumped her fence and walked around to see her and her mum jogging off down the street heading towards the reserve, I mind - linked Paul and Lucas asking them to try and cut them off, we know that the last few weeks there have been rogue sightings on the edge of our boundary, i quickly ran to my car and drove as fast as i could to the parking area of the reserve. I shifted as soon as i got out of my car and ran as fast as i could until i met up with both Paul and Lucas, using mind-link I was able to hear that they both went through the walking and running tracks couldn't find them Her scent is faint, but i can still track her, they have gone further in the forest. Come on. Paul and Lucas shifted and followed me through the brush still connected to Mind-link I could hear them saying they were stupid for going this way, why would they? did they not know it's dangerous then we get interrupted by someone else in our mind-link Hey boys, while you were talking did any of you notice the smell of rogues, who by the way seem to zeroing on Leila and her mum  I was too focussed that i didn't even sense others in the vacinty, I let out a growl of anger as i started running faster when I heard Isabel again s**t Leila's mum ran off towards the lake, f**k she has 4 rogues chasing her but damn she's fast, Leila is still running up towards Dumar Cliff with 5 rogues chasing her. I felt nothing but worry and anger Paul, Lucas go for Leila's Mum, Isabel stay with Leila, I'll be there soon I saw my Beta and Gamma shoot off to my left heading to safe Jana while i continued through the forest, I kept thinking about Leila being attacked by rogues if they hurt her i'll fucken kill them. I could hear snippets from Isabel wait did i hear right, did she just say that's awesome, woah cool. What the hell Isabel. I could smell her my beautiful mate, I could also smell blood a mixture of hers and the rogues, as i jumped through some trees, Isabel was already on top of one, there was another on the ground in human form cut open from his stomach to his neck, I could see Leila being thrown in the air, I heard her head hit the ground, I saw red and roared a growl as i let my wolf fully take over and attack. Once the last rogue was dead, I saw Isabel run from around a tree throwing a pair of shorts at me, she went to Leila who was lying on the ground unconscious, her mum was kneeling down next to her, i ran to her as Jana placed her t-shirt over Leila's head, I picked her up in my arms as she dropped something i saw her quickly grab it and put it in my back pocket as i continued "Paul go get the car, Isabel let Mum know to get the pack doctor and meet us at the pack house" I ordered as I looked down at Leila, I felt a ting of pain in my heart I have you now my love, I'll never let anyone hurt you, I'll kill them first I could feel eyes burning a hole in my head when i turned i saw Jana glaring at me with a worried look, I didn't care though I was just worried about Leila. We got to the car, Jana jumped in the back I kept a hold of Leila as I climbed in "Isabel you drive, Paul, you and Lucas get rid of the bodies and come back to the pack house" Paul nodded as he and Lucas ran back to where the bodies were. I turned to Jana "Why the f**k would you not stay on the paths, I'm sure dad would have told you!" I yelled at her she flinched, she looked at me "Leila and I like running amongst trees and nature I'm sorry I didn't think." She lowered her head towards Leila's head and kissed her "If any thing seriously happens to her, I'll fucken kill everyone" i growled as i stared at my mate, I looked up to Jana she had a surprised look in her eyes. Isabel pulled up to the pack house Mum, Dad and the doctor was standing waiting, as i got out I heard mum first "Front room son," she looked just as worried as me as she wrapped her arm around mum, Zachariah our head of patrols was standing next to dad "Lucian, I'm sorry, I'm not sure why we didn't have a team patrolling the area-" I stopped and looked at him, my eyes darkened "I'll deal with you later" my dad looked at him as i walked inside all i could think of was Leila. I got to the room and placed her gently on the bed "Young Alpha, I need you to step outside so I can check her" the doctor said I bent down and kissed her forehead, "I'll see you soon, My love"i stood up and left leaving mum with them, as i shut the door I looked around "Where's Jana?" Isabel looked around and shrugged dad gave me the same look, I started walking towards the back door when i heard her on the phone to someone "You don't understand if he is her Mate he'll never let her leave. Yes I know he can protect her but they're getting close. NO! Jeremiah listen, we can't stay here, she'll be danger no matter where we go-" Jana must have sensed some one listening because she changed the subject and her tone "Yes Beta Jeremiah we will see you tomorrow morning, Thank you, Bye." I walked outside to meet her "The doctor is tending to her now, My father and I would like to talk to you in his study" I started to show her to dad's study but i Mind-linked dad asking to give me 5 mins with her, I opened his door and closed it behind us. "You want to tell me about your phone call?" I asked as i walked around dad's desk, Jana stayed composed she sat in the chair, "I called Beta Jeremiah to inform him of our attack and to let him know of Leila's injury" she leant back in the chair as i walked back to the front and sat down on the chair to face her, "Ms Black, I can help if you tell me the truth-" before i could finish she sat forward with eyes so sharp I thought i glimpsed something inside, "Young Alpha Lucian, If there is anything to tell you I will, as for my phone call I had to let Beta Jeremiah know as he is quite protective of myself and Leila, my husband was a very good friend to him and the pack, since his death he has kept a protective eye over us-" I saw pain and heartache in her eyes she quickly stood up "I'm not sure what you heard but believe me, there isn't anything for you to be worried about" before i could push more the door opened and both my parents were standing there, I gave my dad a look of what the hell but he ignored me and came in, he smiled at Jana "Please have a seat-" he motioned her as he and mum went behind the desk "now from what i hear Ms Black, you and your daughter were running outside of our boundaries when the attack happened and lucky for you both that my son, daughter and their friends intervened although i heard,both of you were handling yourselves like true warriors" he gave a stern look, I looked slightly confused as i looked at them both "Can you explain how and who taught you to fight our kind? and What weapons you possess?" he held his hand out to Jana, I saw defeat in her face as she sighed and pulled out two batons and handed them to dad, "The alpha of the pack we lived near taught us to fight only to protect us if we are attacked, after my husband died, they continued to teach us, Leila has been taught since she was four.-" she held her hand as she watched my dad playing with them he handed them back "These are not just batons-" she stood and pushed the chair back "Leila has a double sided sword-" she pushed the button and i was shocked to see two swords pop out both ends "She can separate it to create 2 swords, Mine is a sith but can turn into a swinging hook and stick" she connected Leila's weapon together as dad who was bewildered by the whole thing just laughed and stood. "Well, I can see you can take care of yourselves but you are in my territory and if my pack are protecting you we need to know that you are taking precautions to not cause problems-" dad then looked at me "Son, can i please have a word with you outside please while your mum updates Ms Black on Leila's condition" My heart raced as i heard Leila's name, then i started to worry more, turned to follow my dad, he continued to walk towards the kitchen the silence started to annoy me, "Dad, I need to check on Leila" I turned and started to walk away "Stop!" my dad said in his authoritative voice I came to a complete stop "Son, I need you to not go digging when it comes to the Blacks" I went to say something when he held his hand up "Listen son, Jana hasn't been completely honest with us about them, after speaking to Paul, Lucas and your sister both of these woman fight like warriors, like our sort of warriors no amount of training can happen for them to move and defend like us and the doc found traces of wolfsbane and other plants and herbs in her system" dad sat down on a stool "Please keep your distance, I know it will be hard being Leila is your mate but i need to watch them and do my own digging, I need to get to the bottom of this" . Why would she have wolfsbane in her system I thought to myself, I knew he didn't want to give me an order so i nodded to let him know i agree. Isabel mind-linked me to let me know Leila was awake I felt relief to know she will be o.k but now i yearned to be near her. I started walking towards the door, dad had put guards on the door i felt a little bit better knowing we were protecting her. I heard her giggle then call in pain, I rushed to the door and opened it. There she was my beautiful queen, her hair all disheveled, her sparkling eyes looking at me as she parted her kissable lips to smile. It is taking all of my self control to not run and claim her now....

Leila's P.O.V

My eyes started to open, it wasn't too bright so I knew I wasn't outside, I got hit with this piercing pain on my head, I placed my hand on where the pain was and felt stitches "Ow, what the f**k happened?" I asked myself when i heard a little giggle. I looked in the direction when I saw her, Isabel Veluca she smiled at me "Yay, Lucian will be happy your awake-" I knew she was mind-linking "And to answer your question, you were thrown about 20 feet in the air and cracked your head on a tree, then my brother and I finished off the left over's but, I do have one question, Who taught you to fight? because guurrl you are amazing, if you were a werewolf you would be a warrior head" I couldn't listen to her babble as it was adding more pain to my headache, I looked at her squinting in pain "Please don't yell. My head is killing me." we both giggled when the door swung open and I saw him, this amazing structure of a human being, he was so sexy, tall, tanned very muscular, amazing definition on his ab area don't get me started on his face his lips were luscious and inviting, his dimples are sexy and then his eyes they were grey/green. I smiled at him as he stood there in front of me, he rubbed his hand through his black hair before smiling at me. I went to sit up but got a wee bit dizzy and slipped, I felt his strong arms around me and my head landed on his chest. Perfect fit i thought "Hey, I got you" his breathe fanned my face, OMG I think I'm in love s**t where did that come from, I looked up at him and smiled "I'll always protect you" I knew he was telling me the truth and I was happy to hear the words, for some reason I snuggled into him as he lifted me up and sat down still holding me, I felt truly safe and it was something I haven't since my dad. "I'm Lucian" he said my heart rate raced and I know he knew that, I saw him smile "Leila" I said while blushing. Isabel kept watching us, then she scrunched her face "How is your headache?" she asked folding her arms, then i realised I'm suppose to be human and yet touching him even for these small moments has taken the pain away, so I had to put on an act "Huh, yeah. Still hurts like a b***h" I don't think Lucian liked my attention was on someone else. Mum and Mrs Veluca walked in "Leila, sweetie are you o.k?" she asked as she hugged me then i got her mind-link "Baby, they know something's up. We have to go!" I sat up and hugged her "I'm o.k mum, can we go home now?" I asked looking at Mrs Veluca, she looked at Lucian who still had his arms around me "I think you should stay here and rest. At least I - i mean we can keep an eye on you, until you get better" You can keep more than your eyes on me! Your hands, Your Lips, damn your whole damn body I smiled shyly at him "I really want to go home besides mum will keep an eye on me" I realised as the words came out that I was actually asking permission, Lucian looked like he was having his own inner conflict when he looked at me he nodded but he didn't look happy. I turned mum and smiled as another man walked in "Hello Leila, My name is Jackson and I'm the pack doctor." he stopped and looked at everyone motioning them to leave, all except mum and Lucian left, he had not left my side nor had he let me go. The pack doctor sat on a chair "You are a very lucky girl, your scans came back clear so there's no swelling for us to worry about, You do have stitches which should dissolve over the next 3 days, you will have a cracker of a headache but here is a script for pain killers. Apart from that keep your fluids up, and keep an eye on her, if you are feeling nausea or headaches are getting worse please contact Alpha Edward straight away" my mum nodded as she stood, Lucian helped me up "Ms Black maybe you could stay the night, we have plenty of room?" Lucian asked politely, mum turned to me then looked at him sternly "Thank you Young Alpha but I think home is the best place for her. Come on Sweet heart." Mum seemed like she was hiding something and I couldn't quite figure it out, I stumbled and almost hit the door but there he was swooping me up in his arms, my emotions started to calm down as he walked towards the car. Mr Veluca and Paul was outside "Paul will take you home and please Jana keep us updated on her progress" Mum nodded and shook his hand as Lucian put me in the car "I'll come see you soon" he said as he kissed my forehead I couldn't help but blush "I'll always protect you and I am always going to stay close to you Leila" although I don't think that last part was for me as he was looking at mum. Paul drove off and as I looked out the back window I saw Lucian standing there it looked like he was sad, "You have to stay away from him, Leila, We live a dangerous life, We can't afford for him or his family to be involved"  I turned back around and slouched being upset I finally find someone that could be my someone and I can't have him, I saw Paul looking at us in the rear view, he was definately trying to read us I sat back thinking about him.....
