Chapter 2 Field

Atlas POV

I was smitten by her beauty. I can't take my eyes off of her. Wavy dark brown hair, fair complexion, small rounded face, doe eyes, a very innocent one, which I've never seen in my whole life. I want to see how she smiles. This will serve as a challenge to me.

I want to see her smile, right in front of me. Yeah, right that would be my goal this year. I was about to follow her when Miss Margaret called me "Atlas, akala ko ba may itatanong ka tungkol diyan sa form?" she said "Hmm that?" I thought of an excuse.

"Nevermind Miss Margaret, I already know the answer. I am sorry for disturbing you. I will return this form immediately right after I'm done answering" she just nod. I have no time, I better hurry. She might be gone with her mom if I'm slow. "Hey bro!" someone called me. But I ignored him, it's Miko, one of my teammates.

Where are you? I got tired of searching. I looked everywhere but can't find them. I suddenly thought of something. Why not? I returned to the commerce department to see if Miss Margaret was still there. Thank God she was there. I answered the form first and gave it to the assigned students who would verified that I am already enrolled.

I am in my third year of college this school year. One more year to go before I graduated from my course. I take up Business Ad and will take my masteral in the states right after I graduate. I have to be patient in everything that I do. Soon I will manage our company.

I am on a training now. I worked this vacation in one of our branch. Dad always told me that if I want our company to expand, I should learn first how to get along with our employees and start from the bottom. So there, I began to work as a messenger and earned money at a minimum wage.

But it's really a great feeling to earned money coming from my own sweat. It's worth it. "Miss Margaret" I went to her desk. "Yes? Sit down Mr. Almonte" "Thank you Miss" "What can I do for you?" she said. "Can I ask a favor Miss Margaret?" her brow raised.

"What about?" she asked "Ah, may I know some details of that beautiful lady earlier?" she looked at me as if I did a crime. "I'm sorry but I can't share some confidential details about our students"

"Yes miss I know. But I won't ask anything confidential. I just want to know if what course did she take?" she take a deep breath before she answer me. "Business Ad like you" she said seriously, eyes intently looking at me. "Okay, thank you miss. I think that would be enough. That's all I want to know"

I lied, I really want to know her address or her phone number. I guess I have to be patient to know more about her. I should not be at haste. And one more thing...she looks intimidating. I stood up and started to walked outside when she called me.

"I don't know her schedule yet. But she will be back this Friday for that" I turned around to face her "Thank you Miss Margaret, I trully appreciate it" she just nod and looked worried. I walked out at her office hurriedly.

When I left the building, I saw my teammate and a friend Miko coming towards me "Bro!" "Hey! How are you buddy?" we bump our fist. "I saw you earlier and you are in a hurry. I thought you already went home" "Ah, I'm just looking for someone but I didn't caught her" I told him.

"Oh, a girl? That's a good news...Atlas was already smitten" then he laugh aloud. A smile formed in my lips and I want to laugh with him too. He was right and I won't correct him. Let it be for now. He put his arms around my shoulder and pulled me.

"Come, let's go to the field. The whole team was there." We went to the field and he's right. The whole baseball team was there. Yes, I am a baseball player. And it's not to brag this things that I've become good at this game. I've been a player since high school until now that I am in college.

I became popular in the university because we were often champions. Sometimes we go to Manila to compete with other school. Suddenly, the image of that beautiful girl came across my mind. I admit, I had never encountered a girl like her. I am almost invisible on her eyes, can you believe that?

Is she blind? Mostly girls here at the campus who are often beautiful are the ones who approach me, specially that our team was popular. I can't do anything when girls keep on coming at me. I have to go with the flow. After all, it was just for the sake of our team and the popularity.

But I don't want to commit. I am not ready for commitment. There's been a lot of things that needs my attention and to focus on specially on our business. I am the next heir to our company in the future. And one more thing, my dad often included me on a meetings.

Mostly board meetings where he introduced me as the next CEO of the company...

I will return on Friday as Miss Margaret told me that she will return for her class schedule. I need to get her attention. I don't want to have any rival on her. I don't want others to get ahead of me. She was my goal. Today is Monday, four days to go.

That long? I can't wait to see her again. But for the sake of her, I will wait until Friday. "Hello lover boy" someone sat beside me, it's Maxine. She caressed my face, her hand crawled to my neck down to my shoulder and squeezed it. I let her do that. I'm used to her presence.

She tried several times to commit with me but I refused. She's from Engineering department and also a third year student like me. She came from a rich family, their family business involves in a construction firm. And like me, she want to stay low profile.

She grew up in the states, we have known each other for almost two years now. That's when she transfered here at San Nicolas University. "Hi, did you already enrolled today?" I asked her. "Yes, it's good to see you here. I miss you. Why didn't you visited me?" her voice sulking.

She come closer to me and leaned her head on my shoulder. I just let her do that. I'm used to her, she's always been this sweet to me. I looked at her friends who are on the other bench, talking. Max was the leader of their group.

I am thankful to her because since we met, no other woman had bothered me again. Yes, there's still but not as many as before. "Can you go with me at the canteen? I didn't eat breakfast because I woke up late this morning" she said after a while.

I looked at my team and whistled. I caught Miko's attention. Then I gestured him that I will eat. He nodded. We went to the commerce building since the canteen was there. I looked around to find an empty seats. I accidentally looked up at the mother and daughter laughing happily while eating.

They're here? At last I saw them. The bonus thing is that I saw her laughed. I began to walked towards them when someone pulled my arms "Sandwich and orange juice for me" I just nod. When I returned my gaze to Amaya, she was already looking at me. I removed Max's arms at me.

"Okay, just find a place for us to sit" fortunately she got a seat far away. While Amaya sits near the counter. I stepped closer to them. "Hello ma'm, you're still here" her mom looked at me, stared for a while "Oh, hi there" she replied but frowned "What's your name again hijo?" Whoa, this is not good. She can't remember my name.

"I'm Atlas po" looks like I will got embarass here. "Ah mama, siya po iyong nasa office ng commerce kanina" thank God she remember me. "Ah pasensya ka na nakalimutan ko. Nandito ka pa rin?" "Yes ma'm I went to the field" "Sa field? Naaalala ko noon, madalas ako doon. Nanonood ng baseball or football"

"I am a baseball player ma'm" I don't like beating around the bush so I revealed already that I was a player. "Talaga?" her eyes grew big then looked at her daughter "Did you hear that Amaya?" What a beautiful name... Amaya. I won't get tired of hearing her name.
