Having Friends

Loredana's POV

I woke up in a different room than mine. I glanced around noting that I was in the room that the Queen and King had. I shot up only to touch my head groaning. Squeezing my eyes closed a minute when I came to Maya and Amber both were standing next to the bed.

"How are you feeling?" Maya asked, looking a little worried.

"I am good," I gave them my best weak smile and tried to get off the bed. Both my legs crumpled to the floor but Amber and Maya caught me sitting me back on the bed.

"Amber go have one of the guys go get some food for her." Maya directed her.

"Thank you, I am sure I just need to rest, let me go to my room so I am not troubling you." I again tried to stand. This time I felt a hand push me back to the bed.

"Sorry, sweetcheeks, but your gonna stay here a bit," I noted Athens had appeared.

I said no more, just dropped my gaze to the floor. "I didn't mean to be so much trouble," I whispered.

"Oh, honey you are not any trouble. We come to the packs looking to check how they are run and by who. You should not be treated like this." Maya sat down next to me wrapping her arms around me in a hug.

"Food will be back up shortly," Amber came back into the room. "It's taking everything in my power to not go back to that stupid Alpha and punch him again." Amber snorted.

"Easy there, you get hurt and your man will slaughter this whole pack." Athens gave A heady giggle.

My own eyes got wide, "how could a shifter do that?" I looked at them all.

All of them started laughing to the point they were holding their sides. I started to shrink down, thinking they thought I was stupid. I felt tears prick my eyes as Maya hugged me again. "Oh honey, we are not laughing at you. You have no idea who Hawk truly is." Maya turned my face to look at her. Her face becoming serious and mirth drinking from it. "Amber's mate, Hawk has another name." She paused looking behind me I guess at Athens. "His other name is Cacodemon," her grey eyes watched me closely as she seen my recognition, suddenly replaced by fear.

"C.. Cacodemon," I stuttered wide-eyed and afraid. They all nodded their heads. "H.. how?"

"The Goddess Leto blessed it." Maya smiled it was one filled with pleasure and so much love as she looked at everyone.

"I was told he takes souls, anyone can be taken." fear etched deeply in my words.

Amber came forward sitting on my other side, "at one point in his life yes, but now he uses his heart to decide." She too hugged me.

A knock at the door, had Athens go open it. Mike bringing a tray of food and setting it on the small table in the sitting area. "I didn't want one of them in here," he shrugged and glanced my way. My heart did a pitter-patter leap in my chest as his brown eyes met mine. He turned on his heel and walked back out of the room closing the door quietly.

"Let's have you eat. Tomorrow we will be training and you too." Maya smiled helping me up to the table.

"B.But.. the Alpha." I stuttered. Looking wide-eyed at Maya.

"It's good you happen to know the Queen," she giggled as she settled me into the chair in front of a big bowl of soup and bread. A hot cup of tea sat beside it. I began to eat, noting that Amber, Maya, and Athens were having a mini that off near the bed.

Maya's POV

"Did you feel that?" I look at Athens and Amber.

"I heard their hearts about leap out of both their chests," Athens grinned.

"Yeah, something there for sure. Mike cannot scent, lost it when he got that scar." Amber mentioned.

"So they could be mates and would not know it." I tapped my chin. Thoughts and ideas crossing my mind. "You heard him growl when someone offered to take her up. They maybe mates," I looked back at Loredana eating. "Let's keep an eye on them shall we."

"Agreed," Amber and Athens said in unison breaking out into grins.

Mike's POV

I was still trying to calm my heart after dropping off the food. Setting eyes on Loredana, sent such a wave of protectiveness through me I had to stamp it down quickly. I wanted to hold her, never letting her go. I wanted to lay hands on the Alpha for making her cry. Why was I in such a state? I needed my calm and focus. This was not something I had to deal with before. Females had never done this to me.

I shook my head and shoulders working to shake out whatever this was. Put my head in the game and watch out for danger. Images of her crying and punching that old training dummy flew through my head uncontrolled. Pinching the bridge of my nose I sighed. How could such a tiny yet adorable woman take up my thoughts so fast?

"Mike, you seen Amber?" I heard Hawk's voice snapping me back to attention.

"Yes, sir she is in with Maya and Athens, I knocked for him as he went in the door. I heard A gasp and a utensil fall with a clank. inside the room. I peered inside to see Loredana's eyes full of fear.

"I see you told her who I was," Hawk groaned a little. "I will not hurt you," Hawk added his body language loose and slow trying to not scare her. Amber flew into his arms kissing him as if she hadn't seen him in months.

"She was worried the Alpha may try to hurt me since I punched him." Amber shrugged snuggling into his chest.

"You punched the Alpha," Hawk glanced back at me. I nodded that she had. "Crazy girl," he chuckled kissing her to the top of her head.

Maya I noticed walked over to hug Loredana. "He will not harm you, he is here as added protection and is family."

"Fa... Family?" Loredana looked wide-eyed at all of us now.

"Yes, Maya is my baby sister." Hawk had walked closer, hugging Maya too. I felt a growl trying to escape me as he got closer to Loredana. Why was that? I didn't want him to touch her. I closed the door quickly not wanting to cause any undo crazy with whatever crazy I had going on in me.
