Asher's Love

CHAPTER FOUR (Asher's Love) Aria's POV. I realised how deeply Asher desired me. He was bent on choosing me as his mate. Amongst my sisters, he always found me out. Unfortunately, I began to hear that our relationship had been cast around. Many people began to gossip about us being together. I wondered if I wasn't meant to be with Asher, but my mind kept giving me hope anyway. I was alone in the room, then I walked out to check if Kaid would be around, or he had left, as usual. "Kaid, are you there?" I called out, but got no response. Suddenly, I saw Lyca speaking with a frend. I thought of going to meet them, but I didn't want to disturb their privacy. After all, I didn't know the person with her. "Lyca!" I called her. "Are you calling me to come over there?" She responded, surprising me. I didn't expect her to respond. She was used to shunning people. "Yes, or shall I come?" I returned, as I climbed up to meet her. "I'm busy, Aria!" Lyca exclaimed. "Not now, please!" Very quickly, my mind went to Asher. He had gone out with Kaid and I recalled that he told me to be careful before he would arrive. I decided to hear what Lyca was saying. I began to sense a negative idea about her discussion with the person, as the person continued to gesticulate the same way Lyca was, as she held her hands up for me to stay behind. "I'll see you later." Lyca said, not knowing I was already close to her and was waiting to decipher the message of their discussion. I was not someone who liked to pokenose in people's conversation, but Lyca's got me attracted. Soon, I heard Lyca clearly and her discussion mate, who was seated beside her. "Huh!" I exclaimed. "Aria isn't the only one..." Lyca continued. I never knew she was an expert at gossip. She kept mentioning my name, as though there was no one or anything else she could talk about. Lyca turned back. I was sure she was trying to confirm if there was nobody close to her. "Why has Asher decided to choose her when there are so many of us?" Lyca's friend added. Then, I was able to find out Lyca was speaking to a lady like hers. Whether it was Zarra, I didn't know yet, but I didn't take Zarra for such a kind of person. "Look at how beautiful I am!" Lyca exclaimed, grumbling as she frowned. I was studying her gestures and hearing her statements very clearly, and I was feeling bad. I wondered if she couldn't find any other person. "Asher could even pick me..." Lyca's friend said, but was not interrupted. I knew it would get Lyca angry. "Pick you?" Lyca asked back. She stood up and held her hands to her ears, sneering at her friend. "Huh?" Lyca's friend sighed and explained, "I mean Asher could have just chosen both of us as his mates. We are both fit for him, and I am more compatible..." "More compatible, my foot!" Lyca retorted, not leaving words out. "What do you mean by that?!" "I have a pretty face like Aria's," Lyca's friend explained, adoring herself as she stood up and turned round Lyca. "But, Asher keeps a blind eye to me." "Why won't he..." Lyca asked her friend, almost turning her anger down. "Why won't he, when you don't have all it takes. Well, Asher's eyes remain fixed on Aria, and it makes me wonder." "All it takes?" Lyca's friend reverted, shocked to hear such from Lyca. "Why do you keep tossing my words aside? As a matter of fact, you shouldn't be worried about Asher. He loves Aria and isn't ready for you.." As soon as I heard Lyca's friend say that, I turned to the other side. My mood was a bit calm, but I still felt bothered if they wouldn't cause anything between Asher and me. I rubbed my face and smirked, but then I covered my mouth. I wouldn't let any of them hear me, especially Lyca. I still gave that respect to her, since she was the elder sister to me. I flinched, and I noticed an unannounced silence. "Well, Aria is beautiful actually but..." Lyca said, breaking the silence. I turned towards her side immediately again. "I don't know what he needs in me." "He has a choice, Lyca!" Lyca's friend responded, with a loud voice. "Whether you or I, he is not ready for us. But, let us keep hoping he..." "I want him." Lyca revealed, dragging her friend to her side. It seemed her anger had reduced, and she was resorting to her unending desire for Asher. She couldn't force him to herself, but she still remained ready for him. "I also do, but he's not ready." Lyca's friend responded, as she suddenly looked around. She almost saw my face. "I hope we are safe saying this outside?" "Why not?" Lyca reverted, as she blinked her eyes at her friend and also looked around them. She also watched out if anyone was close. "But, hold on..." "What is it?" Lyca's friend questioned. "I think Aria is here," Lyca suggested. "No, is she?" Lyca's friend replied, speaking in wonder. "Why do you think so?" "Aria!" Lyca called me, but I didn't respond. I had to walk back slowly to the house. Then, I waited for her to call me again. I was hopefully waiting to see Asher, and didn't want to harbour Lyca's gossip about me. A minute later, I discovered they were still there. Lyca called me again, and so I answered her from my room. "Have you been calling me?" "Aria, yes...!"
