::Adam's POV::
The next day, Trey and I headed to check out. The mischievous receptionist was on shift and sneered at us.
"Nothing happened!" I sassed.
"That's not what staff reported," she giggled.
Trey chimed in, "Well you were breathing heavily," he chuckled.
The receptionist's mouth gaped in amusement and I felt my body glow in embarrassment. I pushed Trey from behind right out the door!
I know we just got here, but I couldn't wait to leave this powerless human realm. Their lives must be so boring without having supernatural powers.
But we trudged on. Trey and I weaved through the city and obeyed traffic laws. You know... like good normal human citizens.
Then we came to a familiar point at the edge of an alley. I did not have my wolf, but I could sense the hairs in the back of his neck begin to stand.
Could it be?
"This is one of the entrances to the Vampire Realm," he paused.
"Well? What are we waiting for? Let's go and take care of this before it festers!" I tried to walk on, but was instantly pulled back.
A little too hard at that!
"Ow!" I squeaked, "What was that for?"
"One does not just waltz into the realm of vampires!" he forewarned, "Especially when you don't have full control of your powers yet."
"So what do we do?" I asked.
"We return back for now," he sighed, "I just wanted to make sure that this entrance existed."
"So there are others?" I wondered.
"There's many," he corrected, "I've sensed more further away."
"Do you have your powers here too?" I pouted.
He dully looked at me, "Not exactly, I guess you are used of relying on your wolf for these kinds of things. But..." he shrugged, "I've heard screams throughout the night."
"So it wasn't just me?" I shrimped.
"No," he tugged me to walk away from the dead end, "But, something is not right. It's best we stay in doors at night when here."
But why? I had so many unanswered questions!
But this was a vampire thing I guess. As much as he had patience for my wolf practices, I had to understand that it was okay not to understand his.
We arrived back at the entrance to the Werewolf Realm. Before we entered, Trey looked behind us. But there was no one there.
"Is something the matter?" I tugged at his shirt.
"It's nothing," he responded, and we both entered the portal with ease.
We arrived into my home realm where I felt my wolf Eric returning back to me.
Oh. How I missed you! He celebrated. How'd mating feel without me?
Oh yeah, that was my wolf alright.
"We didn't do anything... unfortunately," I hissed at myself.
"Your double personality is showing again," Trey sighed.
"Hey!" I pouted, "It's not something I can control!"
"I know," he bobbed his head from side to side, "But we have to head back to Sarah."
He was right. We didn't exactly find everything we needed, but he was relieved to know that there were entrances to the Vampire Realm. Eric was padding in the back of my mind, happily awaiting to meet Jen again!
We made it to Drake's mansion where Eric howled out to Jen.
Sarah came running and greeted me with open arms...
...and legs!
"Girl get off me!" I shoved her away, "I may be a girl, but still..." I shrugged and dusted my arm, "Have some respect!"
"Sorry!" she apologized, "How did everything go?"
Drake appeared behind her with curious eyes.
"I know," I humphed, "Even in a different gender I am still sexier than your mate."
Drake's eyes laughed at my comment, but it was probably Terry denying all of this truth!
"Adam," Sarah interrupted.
"Aidah!" I corrected.
"A-Aidah..." she dragged, "Why Aidah?"
Trey pressed his brows together, "Here we go..."
"Because!" I squealed, "Some god created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve..." I waited for the punchline, "In this case, Aidah and Eve!"
"I'm not a girl," Trey reminded me.
Oh. Right!
"It's not fair!" I cursed.
"Is it so bad being a girl?" I heard Sarah break a sweat.
"Girl!" I challenged her gaze, "I felt heartbeats in different areas!"
She said nothing, but the look in her eyes indicated she understood what I meant. Before I could do anything else, I felt a stab in my lower abdoment.
"ARRGHHHH!" I exclaimed.
"What's going on?" Trey tried to keep me upright.
"I don't know!" I panicked, "But it..." another jab, "OWWWW!"
I growled and wanted to rip my hair out. I writhed in pain and could barely stand. I felt nauseated by this sudden intense pain.
"Are you pregnant?" the voice of the audacious Drake sounded off.
"Not unless you consider me the next virgin Mary!" I hissed, "What the hell is happening?"
I could feel my lower abdomen taking jabs from something, and I felt a part of me starting to become bloated. But then, I saw the look on Sarah's face. She knew the answer!
"Uhhh," she reluctantly cooed, "You might be having your period."
MY WHAT?!
Sarah looked away uncomfortably, "Yeah, it seems like it."
Then I felt it, a different ooze that melted between my legs.
"HELP ME!" I panicked.
Sarah guided me back into the mansion where I held my abdomen like I was bleeding to death. It sure felt like it.
"Wait!" I huffed, "I don't think I can go any firther."
"Oh?" she taunted, "You're just being dramatic!" she laughed while pulling me with her.
"It's not funny!" I shrieked, "This s**t hurts!"
"Oh how the turn have tables," she giggled, "And besides," she winked, "That's not as bad as giving birth."
Oh hell no! My wolf could not comprehend the pressure of my bloodstream right now! He panicked and locked himself at the back of my thoughts. Leaving me to deal with this all alone.
"Get back here!" I commanded, "Coward!"
Eric did not respond.
"Don't worry," Jen replied, "We will take care of you."
Sarah took me into the women's bathroom. I felt so uneasy, but reminded myself that I, too, had a v****a. Still, it was uncomfortable knowing I was having internal bleeding!
"Here!" Sarah offered, "Tampons or pads."
I looked at her in disbelief, "So my choice is the cotton sword or a bandaid? I thought you'd know which one to choose?"
"Well," she paused, "I haven't had mine in a few months..."
"Well, I need to know, I..." I realized, "What do you mean you haven't had yours in months?"
She smiled sweetly, and admitted, "I'm pregnant."
"You're pregnant?!" I shrieked regretfully as a new pain emerged, "Oh, no it's the jellyfish!"
I wanted to hug her so badly. I remembered when Jen had lost her unborn pups. It was devastating news to Eric when he found out. It also ate me up knowing I couldn't do anything about it. I haven't been there when she truly needed me.
But here she was, keeping me alive!
"I-I am so happy for you," I stammered, "But please, I don't want to stain anything!"
"Well," she studied, "Maybe the tampons, since you know... you're used to penetration and all."
"Am I speaking to Sarah or Jen?" I gritted my teeth.
"Pads it is," she tossed me the feminine mini diaper.
I quickly ripped it out and positioned it onto my underwear, "This is a lot harder to install than rubber," I carefully wrapped the wings, "There!"
Finished!
But the pain was not done! I sank to the floor in agony.
"I hate being a girl!"
Sarah sat by me along the wall, "It's not all bad," she purred, "You just have to deal with that every month until you're 50."
I felt my soul leave my body. It might as well had!
Then I felt her warm embrace bring me in. She rested my head on her shoulder and rested hers on top of my hair.
"I'm so glad I got to tell my best friend face to face," she whimpered, "I've missed you."
Those words were so bitter-sweet. We may have been gone for quite some time, and I didn't know she was pregnant. But, I was glad she told me. One thing I missed was her hugs. Yes, legs and all. I missed how warm and welcoming she embraced me. Even when I was a guy. No matter what happens, I'm glad she hasn't changed.
"I've missed you," I sniffled, "And congratulations."
::Drake's POV::
By the sound of their sobbing I can guarantee that she told him. I mean her. Whatever.
I was still outside sitting with Trey. Come to think of it, I never really had the time to talk to the dude. He was pinching his nose, as if something stunk.
"You okay?" I offered.
"I can smell her blood," he grunted, "Such a weird definition of sweat, blood, and tears."
I had to refrain myself from bursting into laughter, "They will be fine, they're just catching up."
But then his tone got serious, "We need to protect her," he said.
"I know," I agreed, "I couldn't before, but I'd be damned if I didn't now."
"This is more than what you're used of," he cautioned, "This deals with my side of the stick."
I could tell that he hinted a bit of worry behind that husky voice of his, but I was content that he hid no lies that he wanted to protect Sarah.
"So what do we need to do?" I was ready to talk business.
"Nothing for now," he answered, "Adam and I still have to figure some things out."
"You don't have to do this alone," I stated, "Everyone is better traveling in packs after all."
He shook his head in denial, "I was never one to get involved with such trivial matters..." he then narrowed his eyes at me, "But you're right. We are going to need to protect that lycan."
"We will do our best," I promised. "Let us know how we can help."
Trey nodded and then looked away, indicating the conversation was over.
A man of few words.
Just like she described him.
I looked back at the mansion. Terry was already heated up, knowing that his mate was once again in danger. And it wasn't just Sarah and Jen's lives at stake. We had unborn pups coming soon.
The night I found out she was preggo I fell to my knees. How many moons have gone by where we experienced nothing but turmoil? I didn't know she was pregnant and that she lost them in the battle trying to save me. I cursed myself to my bones, blaming it all on me that it had happened.
She was never the same when everything settled down. Yes, we got married. But she didn't have anyone to walk her down the aisle. She wore that smile on her face every damn day. But, I knew she wished things were different. Her wolf longed for someone she loved to witness her happy ending, but Adam had left. And... Derrick...
...Derrick was a whole 'nother heartbreak.
"I suppose you'd like to remain here for a bit," I grunted.
"It's like you said, they needed to catch up," Trey nodded and accepted my offer.
We walked in where I guided him to an open room.
"I chose this specific room for obvious reasons," my smile straightened, "I hope you find it suitable to your liking."
Trey nodded and entered the room.
I left to find our girls. I knocked on the women's bathroom door but no answer. I slowly opened and entered it.
There they were, sitting against the wall with each other. Their hands interlocked with a glowing red handcuff.
Glowing red handcuffs!
I stooped down, but Terry growled at me not to interfere. I pulled my hand back and observed them.
They're hunting, he said, and the moon goddess is calling.
