An Alpha's Orders

2095 Words
For three days I kept myself in the bathroom. My legs ache from sleeping in the tub, but I was determined to not have to deal with the werewolf problem. Surprisingly he never asked for his watch back, so I was able to keep a mental schedule of when the door would open and close. Unfortunately I was growing more hungry. The bathroom’s water kept me from being thirsty, but the pain in my stomach was getting unbearable.  There was a knock at the door as per usual at this time. Alaric was signalling that it was my breakfast time. “Go away!” I called.  “I would, but you’re really hungry.” I hated that he knew how I was feeling. I hated that he knew everything about me, and I hated that I was about one day away from opening the door to eat.  “I’ll starve before I eat anything you give me.” A bold argument, but apparently it worked. The commotion died down quickly.  “Is there anything I could do to convince you to eat?”  “Let me go.”  “I can’t do that.” I knew that, but it was worth a shot.  “Is there any way I can go outside?” It was part of my plan to escape, but I knew he already was fully aware of my plan.  “After you eat I’ll take you outside.”  I opened the door a small crack and reached out my hand, “what’s for breakfast?” “Pancakes, and are you really going to eat them in the bathroom?” He didn’t pass any to me, but he was right, eating them in the bathroom wasn’t ideal.  I looked outside and saw that he had changed clothes and was far better rested, back to the party boy I first saw. “Leave the room, I’ll eat.” I wasn’t about to be in his presence when I was still pretty upset.  “How will I be able to take you outside if you won’t let me be around you?” He smiled holding up the plate, “Can’t you just come out?” I slammed the door again much to my stomach’s dismay. “Go away.”  I could hear him sigh and the door opened and closed. I peaked out and was disappointed to find all the food was gone as well. I ducked back into the bathroom and sat on the floor burying my head in my knees.  The door again opened and closed but this time I heard a scratch at the door. “If I didn’t want to see your face I meant as a wolf and a human!”  That wine pierced my ears and I rolled over opening the door. “What?”  Alaric’s massive head pushed forward against my hand.  “I really don’t like that.” I scooted backward as he entered the room crawling low to the floor. “What do you want?”  Judging by the silence I figured speaking as a wolf wasn’t possible. He rested his head on my feet. He was warmer than the tile floor, it was awkward but welcoming.  There was something about that touch, something comforting, like being touched by an old friend. Someone who understood you. I knew he was aware of my past, but I never told him. He just knew. I reached out my hand thinking to myself this was just a massive dog. Nothing to be worried about. My hand made contact with the top of his head and I worked my way around to behind his ears but stopped suddenly withdrawing. “No, please, just go.” I turned away from him crawling everything close to my chest.  He agreed and slinked away. I wasn’t happy, but he needed to remember why I was here. He kidnapped me.  =Alaric= She was sad, but at least I was able to sleep a bit more as long as I was in that room. The spells cast over the house were too powerful for me to feel her presence anywhere else in the pack’s territory. While the sleep returned for a few days, that growing hunger in her stomach was going to give me insomnia sooner rather than later.  “Still didn’t eat anything?” My mother was growing more worried than I was, but there was still hope in her voice, “She’ll come around. Have you thought about how you’re going to tell her you’re going to turn her?” While that was a concern for me I just kept getting the feeling I couldn’t be the one to do it. She hated me so much and anything I do would just cause her to slink away further. “Actually mom, I don’t think I’m going to.” My father’s fork dropped and my mother’s gasp brought silence to the room, “Excuse me?” My father growled, “You mean right now right? Because you’re turning her during the next full moon.” I looked up at him knowing this was not going to end well, “Actually,” I cleared my throat trying to think of a better way to phrase my reluctance, “No, I don’t think she needs to be turned.” “Dear-” “Ada.” My father barked, the first time he ordered her in a very long time, “Leave the room.” My mother nodded and dropped everything, turning off the stove. She shut the door quickly and I could hear her turn people away.  My father didn’t wait long after she left before standing up to tower over me. While I was an alpha he still was my alpha. His orders were absolute, “You better give me a good reason for why you don’t want to turn her.” He continued again before I could respond, “If you tell me it’s because you don’t want to hurt her. You don’t want to make her hate you. Whatever excuse you have I don’t want to hear it.” He slammed his fists down as the table jumped rattling the plates and silverware, “Your mate is in that room, she is a f*****g weak human who can be used as a bargaining chip against this pack.” He continued to walk behind me pacing back and forth, “If you think for one second that I will allow a human to compromise the pack.” throwing his hands over my shoulders he pressed down firmly, not in the loving way my mother always had, but in a dominating way. One that told me he was going make this order stick, “You will turn her. You will spend every second with her in that room if that’s what it takes. If I have to turn the damn girl myself you won’t be happy.” Leaning down to bark in my ear he finished, “Do I make myself clear?” the growl lingered sending a shiver down my spine.  “Father-” “I want the next word out of your mouth to be yes or no.” The growl grew daring me to disobey. “Yes.” I resigned, “I will make sure.” I pushed my chair out quickly gathering some biscuits. “I’ll go see her now.” “The next time I see you she will be turned.” My father growled. “That’s weeks away!” I shouted, “You’re banishing me-” “I’m giving you an order as your alpha.” He howled back. “Fine.” I growled my wolf hating that he was able to have such a strong presence. I tossed my chair back fully, sending it across the room. I made my way to the room. She was still in the bathroom, which didn’t bother me at all, but if I was going to follow my father’s orders I needed to get her out of there.  “Natasha,” I called banging on the door, “I have some food for you. Please eat.” “Go away!” She called.  “I really wish I could, honestly. I’m really sorry but I can’t. Please, open the door, I need to talk to you.” “We’re talking right now.” She grumbled, and she wasn’t wrong, but I was kind of hoping I could see her face. “Look, I need to explain something.” “Go ahead.” Banging my head against the wall I growled, “My father,” I began but backtracked thinking of another way to word the situation, “Listen, please.” I slid down pressing my head against the door, “It’s complicated, and I really don’t want you to have to worry about anything. My father, the current alpha. He’s given me an order.” She cracked open the door causing me to fall forward slightly. She withdrew before I fell completely into the room, “What order?” I figured the best way to do it was to just say it outloud. She could hate me all she wants to after that, but if I withheld any information it would only make things worse, “He’s ordered me to turn you into a werewolf during the next full moon.” “Why?” A valid question, she didn’t fully understand everything right now anyway.  “Because as a human you are able to be turned by anyone. If I turn you you’ll be part of the pack.” another concept that was clearly lost on her. “Why does it matter?” “It just does.” I barked. I saw her tense up and could feel that scared reserve growing in her eyes. I eased back hoping to salvage the situation, “Sorry. I-” “I’m not going to accept that apology.”  “Would you please accept this food?” I reached up holding the biscuit to her nose. “Please, you’re hungry.” She rolled her eyes taking it before shutting the door, “Why wait until the full moon?” The first thought was waiting? At least it wasn’t an outright rejection, “Well, my chances of turning you are a lot higher during the full moon.” “And what if I tell you I don’t want to be a werewolf?” Another valid question. “My father didn’t really give you that option.” As much as I hated to do this to her I couldn’t risk disobeying him. This was the first order he had given to me since he started to train me.  “And are you giving me that option?” I could hear what she was fishing for. She wanted to know if I was going to honor her wishes or turn into a monster that kidnapped her. “I want to give you the choice, but it’s complicated.” I banged my head again on the door and she opened it fully. Finally after days of isolation she was ready to reemerge.  “Should I be worried then?” She stood one hand on the door the other on her hip looking down at me as if I was being serious. “I never want you to be worried.” I raised up but made sure to not stand too much taller than her, trying to meet her eyes, “I’ll make it as painless as possible.” She nodded and then stepped back tapping her finger to her chin, “Right right, I just have one question for you.” I nodded ready to answer whatever she threw at me. “Are you f*****g crazy?!” She screamed slamming the door in my face.
