Chapter sixteen - She deserves better

Jay's POV:

Kally and I might not be that different. She had a similar story to mine. Sadly, she has consequences. I can't believe he left her pregnant. Betrayed is not enough to describe how she felt back then. The problem is that he is back. I have no idea what he wants from her. I'm sure she won't give in. As I see it, there are still some wounds in her. It looks like she moved on, but I can't be sure. The whole story terrifies her. As if she expects him to do something to her. I'm here. It's not like I can do anything. That is between them. If I mess with this, it might be worse for her. I believe he has stalked her. I don't see another way that he got her phone number. I asked my mom. She doesn't have it. I was mad at Stacy, but it doesn't mean I'll go after her for revenge. I'm tired of people comparing me to my mom. We are different people. I have my ways of dealing with people, and so does she. I don't understand why they think we are identical. I can gladly sneak out of the house. Sadly, I have nowhere else to go. There was a knock on the door, but I didn't open it. I'm not in the mood to talk with anyone. It was my dad. I decided to watch a movie. It was already 11 pm, but I didn't care. It's summer. I can do whatever I want. Mom was in the kitchen when I went there. Great. I don't want to talk with her. I'll take what I need and leave. Mission failed. Let's see what she wants from me. Hopefully, she is quick.

I have a lot more to tell her, but I won't. The bomb will fall another day. I don't have the nerve to deal with her today. Mom is history. Dad might get mad at me for this, but I don't care. He didn't do anything for me, either. Growing up, I was the odd one. Now, I'll be their worst nightmare. Maybe I would've cared more if they had done the same. Sadly, it's too late. I won't go back there. That is part of the past. I'm a new person, a better one. I care only for myself and my brothers. They are the only thing that has left me. Kally is a temporary occupation.
